My mom and my brother had an appointment in downtown Canandaigua when I was home visiting a couple weeks ago. My mom said "walk around downtown and take some pics" I did that. as I was doing that I came across this little bakery. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE local bakeries vs buying the processed crap at the stores or buying things at Wegmans, Albertsons, etc bakeries where they no longer bake at the actual stores anymore. Thats just sad. Anyway, I walked in here. The lady was nice. She seemed a little sketched out though for some reason, but super kick back at the same time if that makes sense? lol Anyway, told her I was just checking things out and I would let her know if I needed anything. She came back out from the front and asked again if I needed anything. So, I got a blueberry muffin. I LOVE blueberry muffins, but I never buy them anymore bc I no longer eat most things like that. It's a sad, lonely choice I made....to cut out all the tasty treats in the world lol NOT THIS DAY THO!! haha! I could not resist. The looked incredible and for $2 a piece being as big as they were...I had to. UNBELIEVABLY delicious. I was so happy I got it. Was so tempted to get a few other things, but Ive been so good with my diet...I had to refrain from doing so and just accept my boring, no sugar treats, kind of life lol I absolutely recommend this place. Prices are decent, the lady is nice, but she should realize that not all of us are bad :) The place itself is super cute, very homey, lots to look at and HEY! its a local bakery! I am a cake connoisseur. I test cakes from many bakeries and compare the taste and texture. I am not as concerned with decoration or presentation, although an attractive cake is nice to have. It is very unfortunate that the old ethnic bakeries have gone away and replaced primarily by grocery stores. It appears that the children of the old ethnic bakeries saw how hard their parents worked and decided to become doctors and lawyers and such. The delicious cakes of our long ago memories are gone. I visit a lot of new bakeries trying to relive my past memories. It appears that most of these new bakeries utilize standard cake mixes available from a variety of sources. They may add an ingredient of two to try to make it taste more homemade, but they all fail my taste and texture tests. Most are light and fluffy cake with average icing. They do look good however, but that is not what I look for. I look for taste and texture. I was very pleasantly surprised with our recent visit to Sweet Solutions on Main Street in Canandaigua. I ordered two large cakes for a corporate event. One was Vanilla/Vanilla and the other was Triple Chocolate. WOW ! Both cakes were exceptional in both taste and texture. They looked great too. Both cakes were devoured by the 45 people in attendance. Sweet Solutions mentioned that each cake would serve about 40 people. They must serve small slices. Our guests had two and three helpings apiece. Everyone raved on how great the cakes were. I personally had three pieces (large by the way) and would have had more the next day if any were available. The visit to Sweet Solutions took me back to the 60's and 70's when Shreck's and Vecchi's bakeries in Canandaigua when I was a child. Both were exceptional bakeries that were local institutions. There are a few bakeries in Rochester, NY who make some nice cakes but they are not as good as Sweet Solutions in Canandaigua, NY. My wife is ordering another today ! I am overjoyed to finally find a bakery that can meet my high standards. I can honestly say that Sweet Solutions is the best in the greater Rochester area. Thanks for reading. I have been buying gluten free products here for years and this week had a gluten free cherry pie. over the top and best ever. All my guests loved it and didn't even know it was gluten free We also had apple pie - simply amazing I had crumb crust, which was delicious. read more

Cute shop with lots of items. I had macarons and 3 different pastries and they were all wonderful. There were also breads, cupcakes, chocolates and more. The employee was friendly. Would definitely stop in again on my next visit to town. read more

They recently moved a few doors down from their previous location. As their name would suggest they specialize is sweet baked goods (danish, cookies, cupcakes, baklava, etc.) and they have a nice selection. Never had a pastry here that wasn't delicious! During the panademic, my quest was too always try out bakeries in different areas either local, or if I went to visit somewhere. I happened to spot this bakery well checking out the few other shops on Main St and dediced to give it a try. Ordered an orange creamsicle cupcake, and a large raspberry muffin that were shared with my mom. Both were astouding in taste and overall quality worth it for the money. I was having a rough week so I looked forward to trying the big cinnamon roll they have here. Right after my appointment this morning I happily hurried to this bakery to taste this mouth watering cinnamon roll. Now I'm not someone who runs but once I parked on Main Street I ran faster than someone's fat uncle when he hears seconds being called. My first impression of this bakery while walking into it was "if I had a grandma I'm sure this is what it would smell like." The door had a cute little bell to alert the bakers of a customers arrival and it seemed almost movie like. The lights were dimmed but the delicious treats were lit up just enough to show each and every detail. That's when I see it, the mouth watering cinnamon roll that I heard so much about only it was bigger in real life. I was the only customer in the store so I had a chance to carefully decide what other baked goodies I'd buy and eat in the car by myself with my eyes closed so the calories wouldn't count. A few minutes go by and nobody comes from behind the wall to greet me yet so I'm just in the waiting area with the yummy treats alone. I know people get busy so I patiently waited but then another couple minutes goes by without anyone coming out. I could hear someone talking a few feet away behind the wall and I was unsure if they heard the bell or not so i quietly and nervously said "excuse me.." and an older women walked around the corner. Now here's where it goes south. She didn't seem friendly at all. I thought maybe I was being too sensitive. I asked the women if I could buy the last cinnamon roll and as she was boxing it up she had asked if I wanted anything else in a rude and unsettling tone. I brushed it off because people have bad days and I said I'd like one of the chocolate pastries. She bags it up and asked again but this time a little more frustrated if I'd want anything else. I asked what flavor one of the cupcakes were since it didn't have a sign in front of it and she just looked at me like I was stupid. After a few seconds of awkward silence went by she explained what it was but broke it down like I couldn't comprehend it. By this point I could read the room so i said I was ready to check out. At the register I asked you take cash right as a joke and she replied with "we take cash, card, check or whatever you want to pay with." I paid and left. I'm not a Karen I don't complain to managers or treat workers like crap because I know they're people who have bad days. I wasn't even going to write a bad review until I was talking about it to a family member and she said she has had the same experience with her. I just want people to have a heads up in case they're having a bad day and don't want the extra unnecessary attitude. Anyways, the food was amazing and not bitter like the worker. Plus the cinnamon bun was bigger than my baby's head. That's why I gave it a 2 star rating. read more

Sweet Solutions is a charming and creative bakery on Main Street in Canandaigua. The owner has a knack for being on trend with the latest customer expectations. During Halloween, the pastry case was filled with cleaver or eye-ball topped cupcakes with swirled to the sky frosting and colorful orange and green pastry wrappers. I hit this place on the regular for their giant cinnamon rolls, that are somehow still fresh and warm hours after I pick them up. They feed an entire office and are only $5. Never have been pleased with one baked good from this shop. Pastries, cakes, cookies, and cupcakes are all so bad and always seem very stale being left in open cases. Have bought cakes for my daughters birthday last 3 years in a row and they are beautiful but taste much too sweet and nobody ever enjoys them. Not to mention the owner is always extremely rude to customers I have witnessed and was made very uncomfortable every time in her shop. After witnessing how rude this woman was to a kind woman last time in her shop I decided I will give no more chances. This is NOT a local shop that deserves the support. After a very disappointing birthday cake for myself and my niece, the customer service, or lack thereof, was the cherry on top of this garbage cake. My Mother ordered an Italian lemon cake. It was most certainly NOT what we asked for. The cake itself was dry, which is very surprising for what's supposed to be a moist cake. The frosting was supposed to be butter cream, however the only flavor it had was crisco, or lard. Instead of asking questions and listening to my Mom, she immediately became defensive and argued with her that it was. As someone who bakes, and many pastry chef friends, the consensus was "this is so wrong." It took away from the lemon flavor. Imagine eating a dry box yellow cake with barely any lemon flavor, frosted with cheap, whipped crayons with a hint of crunchy sugar. What's beyond disappointing was the way the owner reacted when my Mother tried to let her know we weren't happy with the cake. There was zero accountability right from the start. She told my Mother that she has used this recipe for 45 years (why this was important to share other than to justify her excuse is a mystery to me.) She claims to never had a complaint from anything out of her shop. Statistically, that doesn't even make sense, but I can assure you, her attitude sounds like a very common occurrence. She said if we brought what was left of the cake she would give part of a refund. What person is going to hang on to a gross cake no one will eat? Why would we bring it to her? She going to taste test it? A ridiculous request as way for her to justify not helping a disappointed customer. She felt the need to tell my Mom about how wonderful of a reputation she has in this city. (There's a reason why she lost Canandaigua National Bank as customers, when they used to give lots of business.) Very very disappointed. Luckily for us, terrible business owners do not last long in Canandaigua. It's a matter of time before her poor attitude toward customers catches up with her. 12/10 would never buy anything from this rude owner again. read more

I rely on Sweet Solutions for holiday cakes that are sure to impress. They are always of an excellent, showstopper quality, look as good as they taste, and are fantastically priced - people usually guess I've paid twice as much as I actually did. While the reviewers commenting on the customer service experience aren't incorrect, I take it with a grain of salt. The owner is a wizard in the kitchen and her prices are unbeatable, but her strength is not centered in customer interaction - and that's ok! I've always found her to be accommodating to our needs, even if the high polish of customer interfacing is lacking. I went in to pick up my order, and the woman working proclaimed, "Vegan? Well, I have them, but I can't guarantee they will taste good." I asked her if she had ever tasted the baked goods she was about to sell me, and she said they were odd and that she didn't like them. We ordered our wedding cake from Sweet Solutions and it was absolutely beautiful. We're not really fans of cake in general to be honest, but Pam made the most perfect cake for us.
