I can see the lake off in the distance. The sound of the carousel. The sign from the Penny Arcade and wondering how cool it must be to play asteroids for only a penny :) The bottom line is that Abbot's is a Rochester institution. The creamy chocolate custard with the salty almonds might be one of the world's greatest treats. The prices keep going up but people keep paying because it is that good. I have gotten sundaes and shakes. They have branched out and added new flavors but in the end the plain vanilla or chocolate speak for themselves. Add the almonds and you are on cloud nine. I moved away from home long ago but an Abbot's cone brings me back to that feeling of Rochester in the summer and childhood innocence. Isn't it amazing how food can do that?
