My first time since the ownership has changed. Definitely no sense of urgency but worth it. I ordered a coffee and bagel at 12:30. No one else was waiting for food or drink. Forgot my bagel. The 3 staff were talking about Thanksgiving week and scheduling. I had to go up and ask for my bagel to be prepared that I had ordered. They are certainly nice. The coffee was good so I'll be back for that. There isn't a large amount of individual seating. Mostly large tables for parties of 4+. Cute ambiance though. read more

Big fan of the seasonal drink menu options here. They always have a fun and exciting matcha drink to choose from. This visit the option was a Strawberry Shortcake Matcha (strawberry puree, maple pancake syrup, strawberry cold foam, and Ceylon cinnamon) this drink was so delicious and unique. My drink was made quickly and the barista was pleasant as always. I enjoyed the cozy ambiance and plant filled seating area. I noticed a lovely "karma board" where patrons can leave kind and encouraging messages. As I have noted before the prices here are high. My total for one drink was $9.14. Despite the pricing I will always want grab a delicious drink when in the area. read more

Even after adding salt, pepper and sauce it tasted wet and not great. The lox was good. I do not recommend it thanks to the unfriendly towards us service. My favorite coffee shop in Canandaigua. Drinks and food are always on point. Just tried a smoothie for the first time. I got the blueberry pomegranate. Really liked it and it's vegan but you can add yogurt. Also they have really good sugar cookies there for the holidays right now. Service is also always quick and good. read more

My team and I order here regularly when we are working at a dental office nearby. Their smoothies are every bit as good as they look/sound, don't miss out, but their coffee and breakfast sandwiches are hands down simply the best! So grateful to have them conveniently located and within walking distance when we need a reliable and delicious pick me up. read more

We found this little shop driving home one day from Penn Yan and already found a way to make it back. Very large, relaxed space with tables in the front that can accommodate large and small groups as well as couches and comfy seating toward the back. There are some local things for sale as well as their own roasted beans for sale toward the front. Our first stop in we only stayed a few minutes as we got there shortly before closing, but out second visit we had some time to sit and enjoy our coffees. Definitely a comfortable setting if you want to stay a while, the WiFi was good, as was the coffee. Looking forward to bringing some beans home next time as they roast them in house. read more

Cute local coffee shop serving food and drinks. We got iced coffee and smoothies here all were delicious. I am disappointed that they don't use fresh fruit in their smoothies. They use a concentrate instead but you could add a banana to the smoothie for extra fee. I asked them to make the smoothies less sweet and it ended up being pretty delicious for a hot summer day. The staff were friendly and the service was timely. There is a big wall of bagged coffee beans to go. For the area it's pretty good cafe! read more

This was a pretty nice coffee shop we stopped at while on our way to the DMV. Compared to Geneva, where you basically have just a Dunkin, this was a really nice way to start the day. Unfortunately, the staff wasn't the friendliest and the small shop was quite loud. Despite those hang ups, the coffee my wife and I had, along with our sandwiches, were really tasty. I would definitely say this is more of a grab and go spot than a nice place to sit down. It's kind of cramped and uncomfortable inside, but don't let that hold you back from good coffee. This place is definitely worth checking out. They're a little slow, but good things come to those who wait! read more

Good service ran by folks who clearly love and have passion for their food. I ordered Jax, a bagel with egg, spinach, tomato and a balsamic glaze. I also got their iced blueberry lavender? tea. Jax exceeded my expectations. I was looking for something lighter without heavy ingredients including onions, bacon, greasy cheeses, smoldering flavors and thus Jax seemed the way to go. I was hesitant at first because balsamic vinegar on a bagel seemed a little ambitious to me. When it came out hot, it was excellent. The egg was perfect cook to where still runny in the middle but the texture and flavor paired nicely with the otherwise tangy vinegrette. It's not too sharp of a vinegar which is nice since that would have overpowered this combo- some spinach and that juicy tomato slab on top really softened the vinegar on the bagel. While this was delicious hot, unfortunately it didn't hold it's flavor later on when I went to eat the other half. it's a large portion btw, it's 2 halves with 2 eggs - could have been one each for a friend. The bagel was now too sweet which then brought out the balsamic's after sweet taste that I had been wary about earlier. this made this dish a little harder to eat. Still good, but now the sweetness from the bagel overpowered what the tomato had rescued earlier. The blueberry tea was also a good quencher on this hot day- highly recommend. Overall a wonderful place, but I made the mistake of not eating both portions immediately. I will be back in the future however, as the vibes were good here and there is good potential for their other dishes. read more

This coffee shop is a gem on Main Street in Canandaigua, NY. The employees have GREAT personalities! Friendly, happy, and engaging! That set the tone immediately. The atmosphere is chill and very relaxed. The vanilla latte was smooth and delicious- not syrupy sweet, well balanced. The food options are limited unfortunately. Went in here with my dad to grab a cup of joe on our way home. The ambiance is great, very chill and relaxed feel, with an assortment of local art/crafts/food sold inside. Had an excellent pot roast grilled cheese sandwich, the bread on the sandwich was absolutely delicious. I ordered a hot apple cider with whipped cream. It tasted just like apple flavored water:/ I also Bought some Bali blue moon coffee beans and a loaf of bread. The bread was ok, but got stale after one day. The coffee was super bitter and gross once I ground it and prepared a pot of it at home. The ambiance and food was good, but the products sold and the bland/emotionless service leaves something to be desired. read more

It took 40 minutes to get an avocado toast and an oatmeal. Pleasant staff and decent tasting food, however a simple breakfast should not take this long!!! I got to watch them cook while waiting for our food... the cook was washing a bowl to make an oatmeal and then washing a spatula to cook an egg. Extremely inefficient kitchen and understaffed. Although the employees apologized for the wait, it's unacceptable to make customers wait that long! Expect to wait a long time for your food. read more

If you want fresh, healthy, huge meals at an extremely reasonable price, complete with coffee in the mug of your choice, plan to spend your lunch hours (11am-2pm) at the Dalai Java. This place is awesome! Stopped by yesterday before we left Canandaigua and so happy we did! There are so many drinks to choose from and me being as indecisive as I usually am took forever to decide. The barista was really friendly and patient and I didn't feel rushed at all. I ended up ordered a cold Almond Joy latte. It was pretty tasty! Love Dalai Java, it's usually a special treat for me because it can be a little pricey and finding parking on main street for a coffee is a little more of a hassle than going to Starbucks or Dunkin. The drinks are really good, I usually get a chocolate chip muffin too because they are delicious. It's a really cool space, it feels and looks like something you'd find in San Francisco. The employees are super cool and friendly. It's a great place to chill or study and the volume in Dalai Java is very quiet which makes for a relaxing space.
