So I finally made it to this bookstore/café and met up with a friend. The first floor is the café, while the upstairs is the bookstore. There are plenty of places to sit whether you're alone with a book or meeting up with friends. They sell used books along with a small, nicely curated selection of new titles. The coffee and breakfast sandwiches were tasty, and the staff was friendly. My only gripe is that parking in this area is a complete pain. read more

Bookeater is such a cute place to hangout and get a good book! I love the atmosphere and the people here and enjoy spending time with a good book and some coffee. However, the last time i was in there I wasn't too thrilled with my coffee. Maybe it was just the flavor I got... but it wasn't good at all. It was very sour and the aftertaste was something between strong chemicals and mildew. It was my choice to visit a different coffee shop since I don't live in rochester anymore and want to explore the other cafes rochester has to offer. Maybe some day I will be able to re-visit bookeater and try their coffee again. But until that day, I have a lot of other coffee shops to visit. However, I want to give it 3 stars because the bookstore portion really is amazing. read more

This coffee shop is a new find. It was a house renovated into a coffee shop. The lady at the counter told me their syrups are home made and mochas are the best. I got a coconut mocha which I thought was great! They also have other options like raspberry or cherry mocha. However, the price point is a bit steep. They have a second floor which I believe have books. I didn't venture into yet. I'll be back to explore more. read more

I love a good coffee shop bookstore combo! There's WiFi, food, and drinks. I ordered the seasonal chaider which tasted more like cider than chai, but I find that's typical for most chaiders. Very cute cafe with great drinks and nice study areas! The first floor is the cafe level, which is a nice place to meet a friend for a coffee. The second floor houses the books. The staircase leading to the second floor is somewhat narrow and not very accessible since this is located in a house. Wheelchair users would need to request books from staff. There are a few separate rooms that are perfect for studying, as well as some comfy chairs in reading areas. The second floor is much quieter than the first floor as well. Bookshelves are arranged by genre and located in the different rooms, and there is a selection of bargain books. My first- time visit will not be my last! I really enjoyed my visit to Bookeaters Cafe. I had a pastry which was delicately flavored and not too sweet. The cappuccino was flavorful, smoky and strong but not bitter and was easy on the stomach. It came in a colorful cup and saucer set, which I prefer to paper cup fast coffee culture. The early Saturday afternoon atmosphere was relaxed. The service was friendly and welcoming. Sitting on the front porch with our dog, we were offered a pup cup, so we all had a good time. Amazing new cafe and bookshop. The downstairs is a restaurant that serves delicious breakfast and lunch. The upstairs is an absolute haven for book lovers. You will want to come here and nestle into a corner with a book/laptop/coffee and never leave because they have gone through great trouble to create several cozy and comfortable spaces to plop down in. Look forward to coming here many more times. Rochester was missing a reading+nook+cafe+library sort of establishment (as far as I know), and I could not be happier that Bookeater exists! It is an absolute celebration of the dying pursuit of reading- so more power to it! read more

Great coffee and some pretty good food too. Stopped by on a Sunday after 3:01 and was told they stopped serving at 3.....grrrrr.....but coffee and baked goods were still available and I guess if the foods gone the foods gone so I can't be mad about that. Really had my heart set on the specials that day but by this time they were gone. Got a muffin and coffee and was happily surprised at how good both were. I really wanted the eggs with olives listed on the menu but will need get in earlier. I live in Michigan and am in the area a few times a year but will need to blow off other obligations to get in sooner and I'm good with that, and why not. Cool book store is on the second floor, and really just a really comfy place to spend some time with a coffee or some other drink young people enjoy and a scone or muffin checking out a book or two. Staff is friendly and seem to click. The owner was in chatting with a customer, and someone off the clock said hey!!! you got work to do to the owner. I think she said his name is Brad or maybe Chad. As he did have work to do there was a customer stepping up to the counter, It was all good natured anyway. He got up and took care of business. Just very pleasant anyway.
