So I finally made it to this bookstore/café and met up with a friend. The first floor is the café, while the upstairs is the bookstore. There are plenty of places to sit whether you're alone with a book or meeting up with friends. They sell used books along with a small, nicely curated selection of new titles. The coffee and breakfast sandwiches were tasty, and the staff was friendly. My only gripe is that parking in this area is a complete pain. read more

This coffee shop is a new find. It was a house renovated into a coffee shop. The lady at the counter told me their syrups are home made and mochas are the best. I got a coconut mocha which I thought was great! They also have other options like raspberry or cherry mocha. However, the price point is a bit steep. They have a second floor which I believe have books. I didn't venture into yet. I'll be back to explore more. read more

This place is super cozy--like a warm hug in a mug. I'd heard great things and had to see for myself. Tired of big chains like Tim Hortons and Starbucks, I love finding local gems. Bonus: they've got books. My vanilla-caramel cold brew was smooth, flavorful, and way better than the usual chain stuff. This place is super cozy--like a warm hug in a mug. I love a good coffee shop bookstore combo! There's WiFi, food, and drinks. I ordered the seasonal chaider which tasted more like cider than chai, but I find that's typical for most chaiders. It did take some time to get my drink, but I think I came in at the end of a rush and I had time to wait. There's also seating upstairs along with their book selection. There was a lot next door, but I was unsure if it was for Bookeater or the business next door so I just did street parking read more

The shop was super cute and fun but unfortunately the coffees fell flat. The cappuccino didn't taste like it had any coffee in it, more like a cup of steamed milk. Partner got a peanut butter cup latte that left an odd aftertaste. Points for the space and hopes that the food is better than the coffee... read more

Very cute cafe with great drinks and nice study areas! The first floor is the cafe level, which is a nice place to meet a friend for a coffee. The second floor houses the books. The staircase leading to the second floor is somewhat narrow and not very accessible since this is located in a house. Wheelchair users would need to request books from staff. There are a few separate rooms that are perfect for studying, as well as some comfy chairs in reading areas. The second floor is much quieter than the first floor as well. Bookshelves are arranged by genre and located in the different rooms, and there is a selection of bargain books. Highly recommend checking out this bookstore-coffee shop, particularly if you need a nice place to study! read more

A coffee shop and a bookstore? Yes, please! This place is covered in cute art, has coffee and nibbles available and a few seating options depending on your vibe. Of course, I left a few books in hand, comforted by coffee and a shared cookie. The hardest bit is snagging parking. read more

We were doing a book store tour and i needed coffee so we added this to the list . Cute inside , did upstairs first looked at books. Unless you shop bargain room books are pricey and not much of a selection . Then we went downstairs for a coffee i order. dirty cherry chai , and eh not the best ! But i needed it . My daughter was looking for a recommendation and they just stared at her . Wish they would have suggested something read more

Bookeater is such a cute place to hangout and get a good book! I love the atmosphere and the people here and enjoy spending time with a good book and some coffee. However, the last time i was in there I wasn't too thrilled with my coffee. Maybe it was just the flavor I got... but it wasn't good at all. It was very sour and the aftertaste was something between strong chemicals and mildew. It was my choice to visit a different coffee shop since I don't live in rochester anymore and want to explore the other cafes rochester has to offer. Maybe some day I will be able to re-visit bookeater and try their coffee again. But until that day, I have a lot of other coffee shops to visit. However, I want to give it 3 stars because the bookstore portion really is amazing. read more

Such a great find, one of the better cafes and bookstores in the neighborhood. Impressively diverse menu and options for such a small space, with no difficulty ordering with customizations. Lots of side spaces to sit and work, read, be. Clientele was respectful of the space. Strong curation of books and well-thought out displays. A solid used book room. Will return to try more menu items. The biscuit came with the cutest tiny ketchup cup of a couple pieces of fresh fruit, delicious. read more

My first- time visit will not be my last! I really enjoyed my visit to Bookeaters Cafe. I had a pastry which was delicately flavored and not too sweet. The cappuccino was flavorful, smoky and strong but not bitter and was easy on the stomach. It came in a colorful cup and saucer set, which I prefer to paper cup fast coffee culture. The early Saturday afternoon atmosphere was relaxed. The service was friendly and welcoming. Sitting on the front porch with our dog, we were offered a pup cup, so we all had a good time. Will visit again read more

As a neurodivergent nerd I'm sure I am not alone to say I had a dream to own a cafe that also had books for sale and to read. You come in. Grab a drink. Maybe a sammich to munch on as you skim through the genres n selections. Find a nice cozy corner to sit, sip your warm drink and loose yourself in your book. This store is exactly that. And more. Absolutely a dream come true. The people are nice. Ambience is giving inclusive safe space. read more

Service was a little slow but there's plenty to do while you wait: snes downstairs and books upstairs. Very cute place! They sell cookies from the red fern as a vegan snack option and the PBS was flavorful, crispy, and filling. The tofu was actually the most boring part. Comes with a couple pieces of fruit too. Oat milk option for coffees and an option to swap eggs for tofu in some of the other menu options. read more

The atmosphere here is very comfortable, there's a lot of small tables to sit at, and I love that I can go upstairs, sit at a table and be surrounded by the bookstore. They have a great selection of books to look at. The sandwich I had was amazing, it was the egg and mushroom sandwich. The gingerbread chai was great, but it was not very hot and it was very small. The prices are a bit steep so I can't be a regular customer. read more

Went to bookeater for a breakfast sandwich and some coffee and it was such a great experience! They have a wide variety of drinks and food. I was very impressed with the atmosphere - it is such a cute house with outdoor and indoor seating. They even have some video games and a variety of places to sit. Top to bottom awesome place. The staff is very kind and helpful. The restaurant portion is open and cozy. We had a couple breakfast sandwiches and they were both amazing. One was on a roll and the other was on the cheddar and chive biscuit. The roll was great but wow! That biscuit was delicious, tender and flavorful. Highly recommend. We also had a latte and the cider. Both great. The surprise on our visit was a sample of their apple cake......get the apple cake! We walked out with three portions after trying it! read more

Amazing new cafe and bookshop. The downstairs is a restaurant that serves delicious breakfast and lunch. The upstairs is an absolute haven for book lovers. You will want to come here and nestle into a corner with a book/laptop/coffee and never leave because they have gone through great trouble to create several cozy and comfortable spaces to plop down in. Look forward to coming here many more times. Rochester was missing a reading+nook+cafe+library sort of establishment (as far as I know), and I could not be happier that Bookeater exists! It is an absolute celebration of the dying pursuit of reading- so more power to it! read more

Great coffee and some pretty good food too. Stopped by on a Sunday after 3:01 and was told they stopped serving at 3.....grrrrr.....but coffee and baked goods were still available and I guess if the foods gone the foods gone so I can't be mad about that. Really had my heart set on the specials that day but by this time they were gone. Got a muffin and coffee and was happily surprised at how good both were. I really wanted the eggs with olives listed on the menu but will need get in earlier. I live in Michigan and am in the area a few times a year but will need to blow off other obligations to get in sooner and I'm good with that, and why not. Cool book store is on the second floor, and really just a really comfy place to spend some time with a coffee or some other drink young people enjoy and a scone or muffin checking out a book or two. Staff is friendly and seem to click. The owner was in chatting with a customer, and someone off the clock said hey!!! you got work to do to the owner. I think she said his name is Brad or maybe Chad. As he did have work to do there was a customer stepping up to the counter, It was all good natured anyway. He got up and took care of business. Just very pleasant anyway. Anyway will need to get in earlier to try the main menu items as all look great read more
