I had heard great things about their "made from scratch" bakery items and was disappointed to find they had nothing left when I stopped by around noon. Ok, technically it was late for breakfast fare, but if you present yourself as a coffee house/bakery, and you are open for business for another 3 hours, you really shouldn't be running out of fresh baked goods. The barista that took my order was brusque and made me feel as if I was bothering her by asking a question. The place was busy; doesn't have enough table seating; and the coffee itself was nothing to write home about. I'm surprised I've never given Sips a review before! Before living in Irondequoit I had been here plenty of times - for the food and for the lattes. I recently stopped in to work remotely for a while, and was reminded of how great this place was - it's one of the best coffee shops in Rochester. I ordered a latte and a Santa Fe Grilled Wrap with no sausage. All food is made to order - which is so much better than chain coffee shops. Everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. Wifi is limited to 30 minutes, but unlimited for Spectrum customers - you simply sign in with your Spectrum user name and password. I'm kicking myself for not frequenting this place more; I'm going to make a point to stop in more often. read more

The baristas and cook are so on top of everything, they're also friendly, and customer focused. The best part is all of that comes with INCREDIBLE food and drinks. Sips has a lovely ambiance with a plethora of adorable, coffee themed gifts! Throughout the year I have seen different local artists works displayed which adds to the uniqueness of this coffee shop. Ambiance is clearly the focus as the coffee and baked goods are lacking. I cannot speak to the other items on the menu, but each time I have visited the coffee is lacking flavor, even their darkest roast, and the pastries and bagels have an unfortunate after effect, leaving me upset for the rest of the morning. Even a plain bagel with cream cheese has resulted in heartburn. That being said, the service is friendly and the atmosphere endearing. I feel some attention to the basics will take them a long way. Really was impressed today. I've lived in Irondequoit my whole life and finally I'm a coffee drinker ... so I order an iced caramel latte and the chicken Cesar wrap. That wrap was delicious. The chicken was juicy and tender and im still thinking about it hours later. My latte was also very good and definitely gave me the boost I needed... a little pricey in there but I think it's worth it and they are local. read more

When I student taught in Greece, Sips was my go-to coffee stop every morning. I had a few minutes before work today and stopped by. Being that it is 90+ degrees, only an ice cold cold brew would suffice. I wanted a little flavor today. But seeing as though I'm back on the Keto diet for the week I had to be careful. The cold brew is flavored with sugar free chocolate and hazelnut syrups as well as cream added. It is so good. The only negative for me would be the price point. This cost me just under $5. Not sure I can justify something like this daily, would have to go more just plain iced coffee but definitely worth it today! Side note, Sips baked goods are amazing. I've had them in the past. What a cute coffee shop!! The decor inside is so cute but I did not snap a photo as I was trying to be as quick as possible. We ordered online, and there was a (socially distancing) line inside for orders. Obviously these days you need to have patience as these businesses try to keep up and keep everything to the new standards! We ended up eating outside at one of their little tables (kind of a first come, first serve but they were all open as it was a little chilly out.). We each had a Maple Sausage panini which was SO GOOD. Literally one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have ever had! Sweet and savory, my favorite combination. The panini roll was perfectly toasted but still had a delicious chewiness to it as well. For drinks my husband had a hot white mocha which he said was tasty, and I had the Iced Mocha with skim milk, which was tasty as well! I've loved Sips for years! It used to be my favorite hang out while I was in high school. Now that I've moved away, I am sure to make a visit when I'm in town. The drinks are so delicious. They have so many different flavored syrups. I love that they have a flavored coffee available everyday. You can also buy beans in many different flavors/varieties. When I drive around 20+ minutes to enjoy the experience that is known as SIPS, I contemplate three things: 1) I think about moving to Irondequoit (or running away from my adult life completely to live under the O'Rouke Bridge like a troll) so that I could be closer to Sips. 2) I think about how I want to order all of their frozen dessert drinks AND baked goods in addition to my panini and hot coffee. And then that leads me to having another war with myself about what I want to eat versus what I should eat. I want everything they have to offer 3) I think about the first two points obsessively, and then I think about the courteous staff and warm decor as I sip my gourmet coffee and take a bite out of my delicious sandwich, and my fears melt away completely. The food saved my life. Maybe eating at Sips would save your life, too. We need more locally-owned coffee shops like Sips in our towns. read more

I try not to drink too much caffeine anymore but when I do step out to grab a latte this is my go to place. I used to come here as a teen with my mom so Im no stranger to Sips, but I've found a new appreciation for this local gem as an adult. The staff here is just the best. They're welcoming and friendly. They get the order right every time, no issues and are willing to accommodate requests. One of the things I appreciate most is how they make an effort to know who their customers are. It took them probably 3 times of me coming in before they knew me by name. In the era of COVID, human connection remains so important; it's little things like learning someone's name that make us feel seen even in the smallest sense. You're definitely not going to get that kind of service at a big chain coffee shop. Drinks are great, food is A+. I stopped in for the eats today but I'll try the sips another time. As for the eats well they were very good! I had trouble deciding what to order because so many things sounded great (a great problem to have) but ultimately decided on the Chipotle turkey wrap on a wheat wrap. I also got a cup of their soup of the day sausage tortellini and an m and ms cookie for dessert. First off the wrap was great it was loaded with turkey and fresh arugula and the Chipotle sauce was very tasty as well. The soup was pretty solid, not the best I've ever had but still pretty good. The finishing cookie was fantastic fresh baked and nice and soft. This place has definitely got my vote with a menu full of healthy yummy options to choose from along with a wide variety of different hot and cold drinks. I can't wait to go back and try it again and you should too! They've got a decent amount of indoor seating for a small coffee shop and also some outdoor patio seating as well. Lastly they've got lots of yummy home made baked goods staring you in the face at the counter and you can buy coffee and make small gift baskets too!
