The Saturday that I went to Simple Delights and tried their breakfast combos, was one of the fullest I have ever been.. and I was very happy. I came here with my daughter and we were greeted once we got inside. There was limited parking spots because the place was in a small commercial strip. There was no dine in service since they were strictly following the Covid precautions so we waited there for our meals to be cooked. We tried the DAINGSILOG and LONGSILOG. Both the daing na bangus and longganisa were delicious, especially with the garlic fried rice. I loved the toasted garlic that were sprinkled on the rice. While waiting for our breakfast combo meals, the smell of fresh-out-of-the-oven PAN DE SAL was distracting me so I had to get a few pieces. They were still warm and soft, so how could I resist?! They also encouraged my daughter to try their freshly made chicken emapanada. We loved it. It was stuffed with delicious filling and the pastry was so good. I am definitely going back to try other meals. Hopefully I can get lucky again with my timing so I can catch those warm and delicious pan de sal. The service we received was great. They were friendly, efficient and very pleasant. Til next time.

Where I get my Pinoy food fix. They have a website where you can see where they offer other foods. This place is less than a 5 min drive away and I only have to encounter 1 street light! Easy and lazy for me.

We are so happy to see a Filipino breakfast place in Morton Grove! We tried 5 of their 7 breakfast combos (see photos). All are served with garlic fried rice, an over easy egg, and a side of pickled vegetables. DaingSilog - Marinated Milkfish - very good, a few fish bones Tocilog - Cured Pork Tocino - tender, flavorful LongSilog - Filipino Sausage Longanisa - excellent- not too fatty like at other places (Why that name? LONGanisa / SInangag fried rice / itLOG fried egg) TapSilog - Cured Beef - tasty but a bit dry. Will skip next time CornBeefSilof - Corned Beef with onions - my personal favorite There are also 2 other fish dishes that we have not yet tried (Dried fish tuyo and Smoked fish tinapa) The bakery portion has excellent empanadas very generously filled with meat, pan de sal bread rolls, hopia, siopao, fresh lumpia, and so much more. Check this place out! Call ahead for Filipino breakfast, as each one is made to order.

I recently stumbled upon Simple Delights after dropping off something at a nearby big box store. Simple Delights is basically the opposite of anything big box, as it is a quaint Filipino bakery and cafe. The sign in the front window touts an all day breakfast, but I just wanted a snack to go. The cashier said the store has been around for 8 years, and I had no idea that this place has been around this long. There were a few familiar baked goods on the counter, so I went with a chicken empanada. It was ok but after eating it I soon realized that I was not a big fan of Filipino-style empanadas, which are more akin to an Asian bun rather than a Latin-style empanada (baked or fried). Perhaps I will have to try something like the sweeter ensaymada roll if I am back here.

Apparently, there's not that many Filipino restaurants in Chicago and if you want any, you have to drive outside the city. Our aunt felt the need to feed us comfort food and I'm game. Ensaymada: This is Filipino brioche with smeared butter and sugar sprinkled on top. Pretty good. Plenty of butter and sugar on top. Tapsilog & Dasilog: Garlic rice is pretty good. They didn't mess up the eggs. The fish was not overly done (aka so dry it turned into jerky). For those of you who don't know what the heck I'm talking about... * TAPSILOG - TAPa or beef, SInangag or garlic rice, and itLOG which means egg. * DASILOG - DAing or milkfish, SInangag, and itLOG. Fried Vegetable/Spring Rolls: REALLY good. Calamansi juice: From concentrate. But really good. I've had some before where it was bland and watery. Mango juice: Really really good. Ice cream: Filipino ice cream!!! Yey!

Counter Service. Neighborhood. Enjoyed BBQ PORK that is best consumed when catered with big rice spoons. Puny plastic spoons are a hindrance to enjoying good food. BBQ PORK isn't sweet as others, but an extra calamansi would make it better. MAMI CHICKEN is so-so with light flavor and just right ingredients. SMOKED MACKEREL available. PRICING is a tad high, less than $5 should be appropriate. I don't believe the breakfast combo is a deal but a necessity to enjoy a meal that you need to have rice to enjoy BBQ PORK.

I was a bit surprised to see all the horrible review. I had great service when I was there. I'm not familiar with Filipino baked goods and the guy took his time and explained it. I ordered some kind of bread with ube in it and a dessert. I forgot the names!!! I didn't love the dessert but my brother did. I did love the bread. It was warm and not too sweet.

How glad I was that I looked at Yelp before I made my food choices- I was hungry enough that I almost gave into the hot dog stand across the street at Home Depot (which actually makes a decent dog) but I held out because Melanie got me with the idea of breakfast. I didn't get breakfast however- I met MUNGGO!!!!!! How have I lived past forty with out experiencing this delicious smoosh of mung beans and whatever else goes in it?? It's like black eyed peas from Asia. I'm hooked. GO try it. And who doesn't need a chicken soup called "Mami"? WHY doen't all cultures call their chicken soup Mami? This stuff is not as good as the best Mexican Caldo I've ever had, or the best Matzo, but it's up there. Great noodles. Good broth, fresh veg accoutremonts. And cheap, yes sir. I'll be back.

After a long day of walking, talking, and imagining his future, we were more than ready for a comforting dinner. Tita Mia's has been a staple for us ever since a very good friend introduced it to our family a couple of years ago, and it has become a non‑negotiable stop every time we're in town. The moment you step inside, you're greeted by their inviting pastry area, an instant mood‑setter that hints at the good meal ahead. As we walked further in, the ambiance washed over me with a wave of nostalgia. Everything about the space, the décor, the warmth, the familiar scents, reminds me of home in Manila. It's the kind of place that makes you feel like you're about to enjoy a true Filipino dinner, not just a restaurant meal. Since it wasn't too busy, we were seated right away and our server took our order promptly. Service was quick and friendly, which we always appreciate after a long day. We ordered some of our favorites: Kare-Kare, sisig, and lumpiang gulay. Each entrée comes with rice, so there was no need to order extra. The food arrived fast and piping hot. Their Kare-Kare is exceptional, rich, creamy, and full of that deep peanut flavor that instantly brought me back to my mom's cooking. The sisig came out sizzling just the way it should, perfectly cooked and not overly salty like versions I've had elsewhere. And the lumpiang gulay was freshly fried, crisp, and absolutely perfect when dipped in vinegar and paired with rice. By the end of the meal, we were happily stuffed, with enough leftovers to take home. Tita Mia's continues to be one of those places that feels like a warm hug, consistent, comforting, and deeply satisfying. We'll always make it a point to come back, and I highly recommend it to anyone craving authentic Filipino flavors.

And we just rushed and ordered and sat down. We ordered the lumpia, the breakfast sandwich, and the pork belly with garlic rice. We also ordered a pandan cold brew and a ube cold brew. For dessert I got an ube cookie. The lumpia came out almost immediately, but was super super salty. I took one bite and couldn't finish it even with the sweet chili sauce but my husband kept eating at it. Our entrees came out shortly after the sandwich was good, and the pork belly was crispy. It was a great size portion. We waited to eat our food until we got our drinks, which came out quite a bit later after we got our food. The drinks were great and full of flavor. After we finished our meal, we went to the counter to find someone to ask for our cookie because we hadn't received and we were the only ones In the restaurant. It took a while until someone came out, so we rang the bell. She gave us our cookie after checking we never got it. So we took it to go. I arrived with my family and there is a sign at the entrance instructing guests to "please wait to be seated." Unfortunately, there was no host or hostess present at the front, so we stood waiting and tried to get the attention of the only visible staff member in the restaurant. He appeared to be working alone behind the bar counter and didn't notice us right away. This already created a slightly disorganized first impression. If a restaurant is going to require guests to wait to be seated, there really should be someone assigned to the front to greet and seat customers..... Once seated, the same gentleman brought us menus, but it took quite a while for him to come back and take our orders because he was handling multiple roles at once--taking orders, preparing drinks at the bar, and bringing out food. It honestly felt like he was doing the job of several people, which is not fair to him or the customers. On to the food: as someone who is Latina and familiar with both Cuban and Filipino cuisine (through family and community), I was surprised by the execution. Appetizers were served in very small portions-- only two or four pieces per order--such as the lumpia, which felt overpriced for measely two pieces. The pricing overall felt quite high for the portion sizes even with 4... Flavor-wise, the food leaned heavily toward a more Americanized interpretation. The ropa vieja lacked depth and seasoning compared to what I'm accustomed to, and the pancit bihon tasted closer to a salty chow mein-style stir fry rather than the traditional dish...even the noodles used were very different It didn't reflect the authentic balance of flavors associated with Filipino cuisine... Overall, while I appreciate the concept and understand the challenges of running a restaurant, the execution felt inconsistent. Between staffing limitations, high prices, and food that didn't fully reflect the authenticity of either cuisine, the experience fell short for me and my family.

Dark moody lighting with warm colored lamps really sets the tone for the meal you are about to eat. Service was incredibly kind and attentive. Everyone's so lovely. The food is exactly what you'd expect - elevated Filipino and overall INCREDIBLE. Here's what we got/my thoughts. Coco ginger daiquiri - 5/5 - really refreshing. You could taste each component of the drink which was fun to experience. Sisig - 4/5 - I'll start by saying I'm really particular about my sisig. For sisig to be a 5 for me, it *has* to be crunchy. And that's the only thing this sisig was missing. For coming out on a sizzling plate, it was a little too wet, even after the sizzling. Despite this though, the flavors were there and they were delicious. Garlic rice - 5/5 - best garlic rice I've ever had in my life. Just get it. That's all I have to say. Pancit canton - 4/5 - if I'm being honest, it's hard to really elevate pancit canton. But this was a good attempt, it just seemed to be missing something to put it over the top. Really appreciated the fresh vegetables with the noodles. Lumpia - 5/5 - like pancit canton, it seems hard to elevate lumpia but they freaking did it. This was so good. The filling was nice and juicy and had great flavor. Kare Kare - 5/5 - Kare Kare was my favorite dish growing up but I've never experienced it elevated to such a high level until boonies. The meat was so tender, cooked to perfection and melted in your mouth. The vegetables being carmelized was also quite the treat. Didn't realize until after the fact that the sauce isn't made with peanuts, so huge plus that gives our peanut allergic friends the opportunity to experience such an amazing dish. So well done.

Being a Filipina myself, I'm…read moretorn between labeling it because I feel like some of the dishes are more Filipino-inspired while others are definitely elevated-Filipino. Either way, it's a good place to try a twist on your favorites or dip into something new. I especially appreciated that there were a lot of vegetarian options which is hard to find in Filipino food, like our "veggie" lumpia usually has small bits of meat in it, lol. We were warmly welcomed, seated relatively quickly, and the service was attentive and timely. The place is cozy and on the dark side so my pics aren't the greatest. We had the Inihaw ng Talong which is basically grilled eggplant that came brushed with sunflower butter, loaded with tomatoes and garnished with cilantro. This was a nice start but a small one. The eggplant was smoky and creamy and complimented by the bright tomatoes. The Satti Manok, skewered grilled chicken, with cornbread sticky rice was good, but I've definitely had better for a lot less. This is usually a staple you'll find at any Filipino family's BBQ but the cornbread sticky rice was a surprisingly nice treat. If you've had this before, somewhere else, I'd skip it to try something else. The Sinigang Caesar was such a nice twist that totally made sense! My only complaint is that it was served with Bibb lettuce instead of a crunchy romaine. I enjoyed this so much I've been making my Caesar dressings with a sprinkling of Sinigang powder now and my family loves it. The Kare Kare gulay was nice and I enjoyed it. The charred cabbage gave it some extra depth that I think is needed to pull this off because this sauce is made with sunflower butter instead of peanut butter. This was great for me because I'm allergic to peanuts but it definitely changes the flavor, making it a little sweeter and lighter. I wish they would've made this with cashew or almond butter to keep it closer to the rich, deep flavors of a Kare Kare. The Maitake mushrooms -- I absolutely loved. I've never had this before and it reminded me of a good Laing which is also made with a spiced coconut sauce. I definitely could've eaten this all to myself with the garlic rice. Yes, the garlic rice is good but I was surprised to see it go for $6 a bowl. Rice is usually so cheap, if not complementary in Filipino restaurants and garlic rice is quite common, especially for breakfast (yes, I sabreakfast). It was cooked perfectly though. The mango float was delicious. Not sure why it's called a float but it was mango and mascarpone ice cream nestled in a mango sauce and topped with a delicate, crumbly butter cookie. I will definitely come back for more if I'm ever in the area again. I'd be excited to try other things on their menu.

I would love to return to have more eggrolls, try out their sweets (they have a big selection) and come back for the Beef Pares-Miki Noodle. I liked the modern Tagalog/Filipino music selection along with the spacious and comfy seating. They have a good sized parking lot and it's definitely a solid place to enjoy Filipino food.
