    Cannoli Traditional

Had a cannoli at Little Italy Fest and it was absolutely delicious! The shell was crispy, the filling was sweet and creamy, and it was the perfect treat to enjoy while walking around the festival. It's one of those things I look forward to every year when the fest comes around.

New Paradise is my latest obsession. The bombolone are soo delicious! (Pic to prove it!) Everything looks tasty & I'm sure one day I'll grab lunch here, but for now, it's all about the sweet treats! My only complaint is that the counter service is very slow. The person working the register is also the one preparing the food and coffee drinks. So if you have someone in front of you in line or even yourself, ordering a latte or food, expect a wait. This is not a run in and out kind of place.

    Gelato birthday cake

My new favorite bakery in Chicago! The owners are helpful, friendly, and super kind! this Gelato Birthday cake was fresh and a hit!!

I have been to New Paradise bakery a few times, but my most recent visit has made me appreciate what this bakery has to offer our community. They gave my daughter's Girl Scout troop a tour and provided insight about entrepreneurship. Vito went above and beyond in sharing his business story while allowing all the girls to sample cookies. This bakery values quality over quantity and is committed to serving our community with the best delicious treats. We will definitely keep coming back to support this amazing business.

Today I called this bakery and asked them if they still made sandwiches and the man who answered the phone said tomorrow. But then we talked and I told him I would pick it up in 2 hours. I was in luck, he said that a perfect amount of time and he would make 1 for me. I asked him to please make 2 12 inch Italian cold cut sub sandwiches, cut into 4. To my surprise, that man was the owner. He went above and beyond to make my sandwiches, he even told me he baked the bread fresh just for me! This place did not disappoint! The sandwich was amazing and that bread was the chef's kiss! Bravo! Btw...the Gelato, cookies, cannolis, savory and sweet bakery items. A big shout out to New Paradise!

    Doughnuts

Stumbled upon New Paradise Bakery in my neighborhood and now I'm hooked! Their doughnuts were airy and perfectly filled and decorated. Tried the freshly made sub, arancini and the ham and cheese stuffed bread; they were fresh, flavorful, and perfectly sized. The staff is super friendly and makes you feel welcome. The owner John takes pride in his product, and it shows. The staff person working was EJ . He was pleasant and utterly personable. A must-try spot for amazing baked goods and more!!!

Someone brought me a box of cannolis from this bakery so my review is based on what I've tried - Pistachio Cream Cannoli with a dipped shell and Nutella filled Cannoli with a dipped chocolate shell. I also tried a half Nutella/white chocolate Cannoli. The presentation of these are beautiful and an absolutely stunning treat to bring someone as a gift. I have to admit, I was hesitant to even dig into them as they looked so perfect. I LOVE pistachio, so naturally I tried the pistachio cream cannoli first. The shell was crunchy (not soggy whatsoever) with good flavor and the cream was OMG so rich. It tastes like a pistachio white chocolate with an incredibly silky texture - similar to Nutella or melted chocolate. With each bite the cream oozes out, and there is no skimping on the filling. Maybe too rich to have all at once, but lovely to share. The chocolate cannolis were also delicious. Fresh and crispy shells flooded with Nutella. If you love Nutella, this one is for you. If Nutella isn't your favorite, this might be an overload for you. The half and half option was nice because the Nutella is so decadent, that the white chocolate breaks it up nicely. Because the chocolate ones were so rich, I ate them with fresh strawberries and nuts and it paired really well. I'm really looking forward to visiting and trying traditional ricotta filled cannolis as well as some of their other desserts.

    Strawberry shortcake

I needed a last minute gender reveal cake and John came through not only on time in the busy holiday season, but also the cake was beautiful and delicious! Would definitely recommend

    So many choices!

The only place in the world you can try a Tiramisu Affogato. It's amazing! You like gelato? This is the place for homemade fresh gelato. Espresso? Yes, all sorts.

Cheers for me, guys. And now that I've been, I just want to come back. That food is good. So, so very good.... Vegan options galore, and not just some bullshit afterthoughts. The sweet potato soup with garlic was a great starter, especially with that perfectly thick bread. The "Tineka," a spicy peanut butter sandwich with all kinds of fresh veg, was another hit. Fresh, salty, beautifully toasted. Even the side of slaw was elevated beyond the norm. But the one I'll be dreaming of is the Chickpea & Fennel Tagine. Green harissa, golden raisins, preserved lemon, arugula, and more of that amazing grilled bread. My god. Tagine is a slow-cooked African dish that jams pounds of flavor into each bite, and this bowl was through the roof. The apertif menu? Bonus points for that one. It's cute, it's trendy, the staff knows their menu inside and out, and they have been bringing the culinary heat for nearly three decades. Keep doing your thing, Lula.

We got their Roman eggplant parm, tortelli grandi, and the sweet pea and sausage gramigna. The eggplant was charred for it to be paper-thin, and it was unreal how they were able to do that. It looked like a tower when it was presented, and when it was cut in, everything kind of deflated. It was kinda fun. The tortelli grandi were probably my favorite. The Sweet pea & Sausage Gramigna had a seasonal flavor that made it very delicious. It combined multiple ingredients I wouldn't have thought would have gone well. Even though we were full, we had to try their dessert. We got their strawberry-and-lemon Meyer sorbet, and it was absolutely delicious. It was lemon-forward, but the ice cream was quite pink. It was a bit confusing. I was told their lunch and dinner menus were the same, though online people mentioned there was one less item on the lunch menu. If you sit inside, there is the option of seeing the pasta being made, which, when I passed by it, I thought was pretty cool. Would definitely come here again.

The green and white color palette immediately reminded me of Ralph's Coffee. It felt classic and polished but still charming. Everyone working there had a smile on their face, and the warmth felt so genuine and comforting, especially first thing in the morning. They had such a huge selection of pastries and cakes that it was honestly hard to choose. I ended up getting the cake shaped like a cherry because it looked so interesting. It was a black cherry cake and I paired it with a cappuccino. It was the perfect combination. The cake was beautiful and tasted just as good as it looked. We also ordered the breakfast burrito, which came with a small side salad. It was fine, but not the standout for me. If I came back, which I would, I would probably stick to the pastries and coffee and try more of their baked goods instead. Service was amazing. The ambience was adorable. The food was really excellent, as was the service. But it was ridiculously priced. The reuben sandwich was $28. It was a great sandwich, very lean, but you could get a sandwich as good for half the cost elsewhere. They only have a couple of kid's items, but my friend requested buttered noodles for her kid rather than the cheesy noodles. I got the hibiscus drink and lavender lemonade, both non-alcoholic, and they were very good. My little one especially liked the hibiscus. And we ordered the appetizer of whipped ricotta and honey; my daughter liked this more than anything else we ordered. We didn't have dessert at the restaurant, but ordered to go. The pot of gold was really good. There were little "gold nuggets" on it and that was my daughter's favorite part; good thing since I didn't realize it had a layer with Bailey's in it. It was very rich, and the cauldron was really thick chocolate (and actually was a struggle to get into, a bit!). The restaurant is small but it didn't feel crowded. We never felt rushed or unwelcome, and we were there for a couple hours (longer than I realized; it took an unusually long time to make two reuben sandwiches). Their pastries are really nice but somewhat expensive, like the rest of the menu. It was a nice, sophisticated experience.
