Baked by Jane is a treasure. The service is stellar. The owner Sam has a huge heart and commitment to the community. She's one of the main reasons I stop in! The food is great. I think this is a great addition to the neighborhood. Not too many cafes around here. The owner and staff are all so nice! Maybe I missed it the first couple times going, but great to see a full menu with food. Not just coffee and sweets. The breakfast burrito was awesome and FULL. Plus, those scones and butter? I pretty much love this place. The combination of a neighborhood feel, awesome staff, and great coffee drinks is a trifecta for Chicago. It's not super close to my home but close enough that it's worth it to travel. I usually get an iced coffee and I'm so happy it's smooth and lacks bitterness. They have a wide variety of pastries and savory items as well. Everyone that works here is so friendly and kind. Prices are reasonable and won't break you for a cup of coffee. There's plenty of space for small groups or if you want to work independently. Overall, a great place! P.S. They might need a few more outlets for those who want to work as they get more popular. read more

Baked by Jane exceeded my expectations! For starters, the space is GORGEOUS. So many beautiful plants, a large breezy window, and just such a cozy space to sit. We didn't bring the kiddos this time, but absolutely would next time because there is the most perfect kids' corner filled with all the things. A parent's dream! We did order it all- lattes, sandwiches, cupcakes and desserts. Everything was fantastic, but the standout was that cookie dough cupcake. Did I have to wrestle with my almost 2 year old for the last bite once I got home? Maybe. :) Sam, the owner, is the sweetest soul! She aims to make sure everyone leaves happy, and it shows. Her contagious energy is in every corner. So happy to see how successful Baked by Jane has been so far, and cannot wait to return!! read more

I have driven by Baked by Jane a couple times and had to finally make a stop. I saw something about banana cream pudding and since my sweet girl has been ill with COVID I wanted to get a bit of a treat for her. Ended up getting some banana cream for us and some breakfast items too; bagel bites and an egg sandwich. The food was good, though for my taste the bacon could have been better cooked. Most of it was pretty fatty so I had to take the bacon off. The babe was interested in the bagel bites, which had a bit of cream cheese and bacon I think inside. Those came in sets of two. The woman who helped me--who may well have been the titular Jane, given her chef's coat and chipper attitude--was super friendly. They have some drinks as well, though I don't drink coffee so I don't know enough to order anything but what is right on the board and thus a drip coffee ended up in the order. But I also asked if they had hot chocolate or a chai, so I picked up a chai latte for myself. (They have hot chocolate, too, which I may try another time.) I really like how they have examples of their offerings on the counter--that's something I've only ever seen in Japan, and have for decades wish would catch on here because it's so helpful. They have various cupcakes, cinnamon rolls, cookies, and other sweets and savories like sandwiches. The food models also I think are shown in the quantities in which they're sold, such as two bagel bites, one egg sandwich, etc. I think that's helpful. The parking is street only, but in this area of Edison Park that's not usually a huge problem. The restaurant itself is really lovely. Lots of tables, and a garage-door style door at the front tables.l for the warm weather days. There are plants all over the place, possibly from Sunnyside Plants which is nearby (I saw their card near some of the plants!); it makes the place feel welcoming and cozy. And I LOVE that the place is kid friendly! There are a few tables and a trunk with books, toys, games and so on. Very thoughtful addition to this lovely little cafe. I didn't notice if they had high chairs or not, but I will bring my stroller for the kiddo just in case and look forward to returning since they are so welcoming of small friends. read more

I took my grandson to the Jefferson Park Christmas in the park. When I got my hot chocolate I was extremely surprised. Most events have gross watered down hot chocolate. Not Baked by Jane. It was delicious. The muffins were amazing too. Definitely stopping by the biz soon. read more

After a very tiring, terrible, trouble-filled appointment, work day, or school day, one may stop at this accessible coffee/bake shop for a hot drink or scone. Inside, the walls and ceilings are donned in exquisite and aesthetic decorations which flow very nicely. I highly recommend their chocolate scone, they serve it with a chocolate whipped butter, which is absolutely delicious. On top of the scrumptious refreshments, the service indeed astounded me. Unlike October café down the street, they actually seemed to genuinely care for you. Their friendly demeanors affect their ambiance dramatically. Again I highly recommend this joint, and hope to make my return very, very soon. read more

My boyfriend & I walked 12 minutes to this place. It is a cute spot. They have coffee, baked goods, & breakfast items. I got a white chocolate iced latte & it was so delicious. My boyfriend got a sugar free vanilla cappuccino, he loved it. Jane explained that she can make any coffee with any of the flavor she had. I was looking for local bakeries on Google and came across Baked by Jane, so it was my first time today. I had a cappuccino and an orange cranberry scone = both very delicious. My daughter had a breakfast sandwich, which she also liked. The scone certainly tasted home made and it came with a bit of cinnamon butter, which I loved. The cafe itself is very cozy and the huge garage door was open to the street, I really like the ambiance of the place. We placed our order at the counter and our food was brought to the table. This location has had totally different restaurants over the years. Anything from BBQ , Mexican, Fried Chicken which made me miss Mother Cluckers because the chicken was mediocre and now a bakery. I attended their grand opening which was supposed to be at 10. Not sure if I missed the ribbon cutting because later I seen pictures on Facebook of their celebration. I picked up some of their muffins. I wanted to like them but they tasted like muffins you would find at a hotel continental breakfast. Too dense. Lack of flavor. Paid like $12 for 4 of them. Definitely not going back. There are many new bakeries that opened In the area I will try. I don't know if this place will survive. read more
