This gelato shop is tucked off the side of a building on Milwaukee. As you walk up, you'll see cute outdoor seating and a dog bowl, so they are dog friendly! They didn't have many selections as a typical gelato shop, but I did overhear them saying their flavors change weekly. I wasn't interested in any of the flavors they had currently so I tried a pistachio gelato bar and it wasn't bad. My husband had an affogato with vanilla gelato which he enjoyed very much. They have games available, which was nice to keep my children entertained. They also had a cute kids' table indoors. It didn't look like they had a restroom, and that's unfortunate because I desperately needed to wash my hands after my toddler ate a blue birthday cake gelato! read more

This place is awesome. The gelato is delicious and they have so many flavors on rotation. I also love that you can get two flavors in a small cup. Every flavor I've tried has been delicious, but I especially liked the chocolate orange gelato pop and the key lime pie gelato. Mexican vanilla, toasted marshmallow, and lemon basil are also old favorites. read more

Best ice cream bars! They have so many combos, my favorite being the oreo and mint one. Accessing this shop is a little difficult as there isn't a close crosswalk if you're driving on the other side of the road. read more

I live in the neighborhood and kept hearing about the Gelato bars. "You'll never eat another Dove Bar again". I am pleased to report it's true, it's true!! Ix-Chel offers rotating flavors and my pick last night was the tiramisu and it was so delicious, I mean so delicious. What a treat! Great people. Great frozen desserts. Wonderful atmosphere with a great variety of freshly made-delicious desserts, and an incredible selection of flavors from around the globe. Grapefruit sorbet is my favorite There's also a key-lime gelato, my favorite gelato, that is so amazing that I can't even eat too often because once I start eating it I can't stop, and my stomach gets bigger quick after 5-10 back to back uncontrollable visits. read more

I am highly impressed with this place! I never thought they would be able to clear the enormously high bar I set for the place, but it did. This is a place full of quality hand made gelato. They have a a large variety of flavors and every single one is out of this world. The Mexican vanilla and salted caramel are my favorites. They are even good together (which they will do on anything Med and above). While the price might seem high for ice cream, you do get a lot and this is some of the highest quality gelato I have ever had (including Italy). The setup and service is also fantastic. The guy who scoops the gelato uses a little speaker so that you can hear him. He also packs it in very well and knows what he is doing. They also support the local schools with fundraisers which is what got me in the door. I will certainly be back! Note: The parking situation over there is a little bad. I am not faulting the place, but you need to be patient and find a spot (not in McDonald's!) read more

Honestly a win every time I've come here. There flavors are so delicious. Their passion fruit is probably the best passion fruit gelato I've ever had in my life and they make it in house which makes it so much more special. Absolutely amazing! The place is clean, the decor is inviting but not overbearing, and the options aren't overwhelming but enough. As soon as you walk in you feel as though you are about to eat fancy gelato with insane price tags but nothing can be further than the truth. The gelato is amazing because it's fresh and homemade. Flavors that are usually too sweet (birthday cake) are perfect and refreshing. Let me backtrack a bit, I ordered two scoops in a cup, hazelnut and Mexican vanilla. Both were delicious but the vanilla was out of this world (I should have tasted it before). The Mexican vanilla bursts with flavor but none overpower the other. The owner say me and my kiddos enjoying the gelato so he offered us a small portion (for free) of birthday cake. My kids instantly wanted it. This is a great addition to the neighborhood and a great place to make summer memories. I highly recommend this place! read more

So my wife and I have been walking by Ix-Chel almost everyday for weeks on our way to and from the Jefferson Park CTA/Metra transit station. Waiting and waiting for this new gelato and coffee spot to open. Well, the waiting is finally over and all I can say is that it was definitely worth it. This very cool little spot finally opened over the weekend and we were very pleased that it finally did. All of the gelatos that we tried were absolutely delicious. Great variety of flavors that are set to be ever changing. So far my favorite were the coconut and the pistachio but the chocolate chile gets a huge nod as well! Didn't try the coffee but will without a doubt be returning. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, which of course is always a good thing; that alone makes you want to come back. So the next time you get off the train or a bus at Jeff Park, treat yourself to something delicious at Ix-Chel! read more

Finally got a chance to try their gelato and it doesn't disappoint! They make their gelato daily and switch out the flavors. They also carry nondairy and make their own frozen gelato "paletas" I tried a few flavors but my favorite is definitely Mayan chocolate! Will definitely go back soon. read more

I can't believe that I waited until the last week of the Season to check out this neighborhood gem! I have already been to Ix-Chel twice this week and can't wait for next Summer to enjoy family walks for some cold Gelato! I have been super impressed to see how many non-dairy options Ix-Chel offers. This place is amazing. Local and fresh I love coming here for smoothies and ice cream. Everyone is fantstically nice and I've yet to have a flavor that's not delicious. During the pandemic employees where gloves and masks and there's a plastic shield between you during your order. I highly recommend giving this place a spin, on a warm day it's very pleasant to have you gelato under a tree and a nice breeze. Try the salted caramel and guava! read more

Super delicious gelato. Great flavors. We had 9 different flavors and they were all great. I took my seven year old for a birthday treat and the staff was awesome made him feel super special. The hooked him up with a free scoop of birthday cake gelato that was just freshly made and was hardening up in the blast freezer and brought it out with a candle in it. Then to top it off they twisted up a couple awesome balloon swords in the back and surprised both my kids with them. read more

Absolutely delightful addition to Jefferson Park! Vegan gelato.....what more could I want? Delicious assortment of flavors The atmosphere is bright, clean and friendly. Also offered are bubbly drinks, teas, smoothies, cookies, fresh lemonade. There is a shady area with tables in front to enjoy al fresco. This area needs more businesses like this one. Convenient too. the gelato here is the best I have ever tasted. This place is rock star good. The Mayan chocolate (dairy) had rich, intense flavors of almost spicy Mexican chocolate. The mango was nondiary but super creamy and tangy and tasted of fresh mango. The fruit flavors are mostly nondairy but have an almost Supra diary creaminess. Not sure how they achieve this, but it's wonderful. Attractive place very clean, bright, off the beaten path, but steps away from Jeff Park terminal. This place is a destination dessert stop. The sausage had a pleasant sweetness to it and was served with garlic chips, which added a nice touch. Finally, the broth of the Sichuan noodles was packing with flavor: sweet, tangy, spicy, umami - truly hit all the spots without being too numbing to your mouth, if thats one of your concerns Would definitely return to try the other menu items, especially their hot sizzling plates and their dessert/drink offerings

Double Purple Bubble Fresh Milk - ube lining, ube grounding, milk, and boba. Combo sounds pretty great, but felt like execution was off. Ube lining was decent and smooth, just took some effort to scrape. However I expected the ube at the bottom of the cup to be mashed similarly and it was not. Boba was chewy on the outside but ripped apart easily in the center, almost firm.

The crust was thin and crispy, with a large air cavity, making it very soft and fluffy. The salted egg yolk has just the right balance of sweetness and saltiness, and wasn't too cloying. Garlic Cheese Brioche Bun蒜香奶酪麵包: Perhaps its more Taiwanese name is "八蒜包" (Eight Garlic Bun). Its appearance and taste were very similar to those I've had at Taiwanese bakeries in mainland China. The cheese and garlic flavors were very strong, but the bread itself was slightly coarse. Hojicha Latte: The whole milk was very milky, but the hojicha flavor felt a little weak. However, it's already great to find a tea latte that's not very sweet.
