Since they were in small slices, we were able to try all the different varieties-- tiramisu, chocolate, cherry, coconut. I've been shopping from Maria's Bakery for a few years eventually when im too busy to cook and I have the crave of Romanian traditional langos or same european cakes . I have bought one time egg plant salad and the taste was Soo bad I can't eat. The prices are going high and high on everything and not only that but in few occasions I've been told one price but in my bank statement it show different that I expected,, $20, $10, more. Opened 3 years ago by a Romanian family carries a variety of ethnic baked goods. I treated myself to a Amandine torte which is a Romanian chocolate layered cake filled with chocolate with caramel and fondant cream. The torte was light and not overly sweet, absolutely delicious. I also purchased a handle of tiramisu for my coworkers. They have nothing but praise for the baker! For a small bakery, I am happy they survived 2020. Stopped by store last week and items looked good, so I purchased a brioche bread with a walnut/sugar swirl called cozonac and a large container of beef vegetable soup, called ciorba no prices anywhere so I figured how much could it possibly be, well 30.00 for a the bread and 35.00 for the soup Both were good but not worth 70.00 , they must have a following because I'm not sure who can afford those prices, again this has nothing to do with taste because it was good , I just don't understand how they are in business charging those prices read more

My famyly ordered the pastries tray from Maria's for years. Although they are delicious . . . they are overpriced!!! Just last week I stopped in to buy a small tray of assorted pastries for my mom while she was visiting from Florida. It was overpriced but didn't mind spending the extra dollars for once in a while. While at the store i remembered that my grandson loves amandine . . . and as a grandmother I indulged him to TWO AT SIX DOLLARS A PIECE!!! Come on Maria's . . . how greedy are you? The same day I found Fresh Farm sells your amadine for $4.50!!! We popped in here about 10 minutes before they closed. Service was excellent, the prices were reasonable, and we loved what we purchased. As a surprise, someone got us a strawberry cake from this shop, we had never tried it before. The cake was very pretty with fresh strawberry and edible gold leaf accents. I would say I enjoyed the cake.. The cake was almost too wet on the inside, which I interpreted as being very fresh! But the cake was much more enjoyable the next day or so, when some moisture had evaporated. The sponge was very light. The strawberry flavor was very strong and seemed to be a combination of fresh starwberries and other flavors. I think the frosting was buttercream but I couldn't be sure what the filling was. This visit started with ordering a cake for coworkers birthdays once a month to celebrate all the birthdays for that month. I asked for recommendations and one of the recommendations was that they were known for their tiramisu cake. Let me tell uuuuuu!!!! Omggggg!! This is amazing it's not too coffee strong and it has a nice texture and not too sweet. It's perfect!! I def recommend it. I will say that they carry dm individual slices of tiramisu, for $6 which is pricey in my opinion....but I paid it every time because it's AMAAAZZZIINNGG!! Delicious!! Don't know what I got but the first one is like a tiramisu but without the coffee flavor and all the Carmel flavor.... The other one with a darker chocolate crust is sweetened almost like a honey glaze, reminded me somewhat of a tres leches cake where the sponge cake is drowned in liquid. read more

If you need good European style cakes , Romanian cuisine , this is the place you are looking for! Everything tastes good and so fresh . I'm a cake girl and these varieties are so delicious , can't stop eating them. I can tell they are made with natural ingredients and organic ingredients. I don't want to forget about the soups and salads and the stuff cabbages. Fresh bread is so delicious here ! I am so happy I found this gem! So far everything I tried has been delicious! I get the assortment tray of pastries for every holiday/party and they are sooo good! I like their breads (regular and sweet walnut) and Langosi on saturdays (fried dough filled with cheese or apple ). Tripe soup was good, and the stuffed cabbage rolls as well. I was looking for some bread to accompany some soup I made and wanted to support a small bakery. I know nothing about traditional Romanian/Moldovan bakery. I walked in and was greeted by a man. I asked him what kind of bread he had and he offered me two free loaves of bread to try since it was my first time in. As much as I offered to pay!, he insisted I take them for free. I did not feel ok about this, especially because of how much small businesses have suffered during 2020, but he still insisted. The walnut bread is to die for. My husband and I are hooked. I am extremely grateful for this bakery, especially during COVID times when I can't travel back home to Romania, but desire some good Romanian food to be carried out into my home. The menu consists of a variety of options including tripe soup, stuffed cabbage, eggplant spread, and much more. Their bakery items are always mouthwatering and my favorite are the multiple layer of chocolate cake called "dobos" and custard cake called "cremes". They are not organized at all. I wanted to order some Romanian "Cozonaci" walnut sweet bread for Easter. I called them asking if I can place an order for the sweet bread. That said that you don't have to place an order you just come in before Easter and pick it up from the store. So I went there to pick it up and the guy said that I have to wait 2 hours until they are done and go for a walk meanwhile. I come back in 2 hours, they said you have to wait another hour until they will be done. When I asked why they didn't pick up order to know how much to prepare they said this is how they do it. The place was small, clean, beautifully decorated. I loved the variaties of baked goods. Not too much but enough to make you excited. Each one looked delicious! Very delicious cakes and quite a large variety for a small business. I have tried many of them and so far all of them tasted great. I loved the Amandina, Dobos, Pineapple, Lemon and Savarine cakes. The owner has a very extensive training in serving large parties such as weddings, engagements, and family reunions. The store display has only a few of the items on her extensive menu. Everything else needs to be ordered and made fresh from scratch. She also has many special order meal items that are familiar to Eastern European cuisine such as soups, breads, and stuffed cabbages. I placed an order for platter of assorted desserts for Christmas. When I went to pick up my order on the 24th there was a young lady in front of me and she was trying to pick up her order. The owner came out screaming and yelling and causing a big scene and front of seven or eight other customers . I was shocked as was everyone else at how the owner treated this girl which later I found out is her daughter-in-law. I left an honest review on Facebook based on the events that occurred. The shop owner reached out to me and try to explain herself, I assumed that that would be the end of it but I started receiving messages from her bakery manager lacrimiria Georgeta Baboi ... asking me to take my review off when I told her I wouldn't,she tried to bribe me by sending me money to donate to the Moldovan family (which this in itself is disgusting). I told her I didn't have any Ill intent and I didn't want to bring anybody's business down I was just giving an honest review of my experience at the bakery. She then started calling me names and being disrespectful. both the owner and the manager could have use this as constructive criticism and improve their customer service yet they decided try to intimidate and Bribe their way into positive reviews. It's disgusting the tactics she uses to try to convince me to take my review off. She tries to send me money, she tries to use God, and tries to guilt me. I normally go in the there for the pastries and the sweets, oh also their cheese filled pockets are mouth watering. My personal favorite pastries are any with walnuts and honey- delicious !!! We recently though ordered a 2 layer baby shower cake with fondant and it was amazing !!! All of our guests were raving about how moist, and delicious the cake was. Horrible service!!! Zero stars. I went to pick up my order that was already placed. Upon arriving, they tell me they only have scraps left and they're going to see what they can do. Another customer came in 30 minutes after me, to which she was told the same thing. But after waiting for more than an hour, they gave my order to this other customer and completely skipped and ignored me. I confronted them about this and demanded my order but they all just blankly stared and said nothing like worthless morons. These people conduct business like it's for their neighborhood friends and pick and choose who they serve. Like some backwards Southern 1950s shop with a sign outside that says 'No Coloreds' only these folk can't put a sign so they just ignore you. But it's 2018 and this is America! Please avoid at all costs! These people do not deserve your business, and unless you're already in their 1950s social club, you won't have much luck getting proper service here. read more
