I first tried one of the breakfast offerings and appreciated the option to skip the tortilla for some lettuce. It was good but I could tell it was missing some magic that I'm sure the burrito version delivers. The next time I was feeling a burger and the owner helped me pick between two options, suggesting I go with the chicken burger. I've been back three weeks in a row now for that chicken burger! I hold the Buffalo sauce because the flavors of the fresh chicken patty, bacon and blue cheese shine without it. The fries are delicious and it's the perfect portion size, but even more I find myself craving their ketchup! I want to try the fish tacos so maybe I'll have to go twice in a week so I still get my chicken burger fix. I wish this place was open until 6pm so I could pick up dinner on my way home! A tiny box of a restaurant that might seem to be another hot dog stand by the hardware store ( not that those can't be gems too) but it's really got a lot more going on...cooked to order health conscious mexican made with organic ingredients. Hamburgers, chicken burgers, sausages too but the Mexican was so amazing. My chicken burrito with red pepper sauce, cole slaw, brown rice & Mexican cheese was so super good! Simple Cafe review Javier has been working in the restaurant business for over 20 years, plus graduated from the Medford Culinary Institute, and it shows. This isn't your average burrito shop - the ingredients, blending of flavors, and execution were all top notch in everything we tried. I had three different breakfast burritos on different occasions. The chorizo burrito was the best breakfast burrito I've ever eaten - an incredible blend of eggs, roasted/grilled vegetables, caramelized onions, sour cream, mushrooms, and chorizo on a perfectly grilled tortilla. The sausage burrito and a daily-special bacon/black bean burrito were also excellent, though not quite as amazing (for me) as the chorizo. All three were almost too much to eat, so if if there were any problems with portion size (mentioned in an early review), I think they've been resolved. My partner had the bacon/egg sandwich. That was also delicious, though not nearly as big as the burritos - good for someone with a medium appetite. This is some of the tastiest food we've had in Ashland - will be back for some of the lunch items when we can. Note - not open in the evening or Sundays, and outdoor seating only. read more

The level of care these fine people put into their food sets them apart. It is exceptional! Everything I've had from them is delicious. Prepared well, huge portions, presentation is on point, and their smiles behind the counter are infectious. I would recommend any of the burgers, and the teriyaki bowl with either chicken or tofu is stellar. Add the peanut sauce. It's worth it. Terrific local hangout (outside the tourist zone) with a strong Ashland vibe. At first glance it might not seem promising, as it's basically a kiosk outside a hardware store. But don't be fooled: the food is high quality. Speaking of food, it's an eclectic mix: burritos, bentos, burgers, hot dogs, crepes and some other items. If you're in the mood for that kind of thing and want something fast, casual and unpretentious, then this is the place. And afterwards you can go into the hardware store and buy stuff ;} Lots of people do takeout, but there's also a very nice outdoor patio area to eat. OH.MY.GOSH! I'm so glad we finally stopped in and tried this gem! We ate our food out on the patio which is nicely shaded. They have an impressively extensive menu. My husband got a chicken verde burrito, I got the teriyaki chicken bowl and our daughter got a cheeseburger and fries. The meat was very good and the bun very good, but I asked for sauerkraut and mustard for toppings, and well, the picture speaks for itself.
