We heard a lot of good things about this place, so we decided to stop by. Parking lot is on the side of this restaurant, and the view from the parking lot is very beautiful! The restaurant is small, warm, and cozy. Menu is very simple, but still have variety. We ordered mountain man, eggs Benedict, ham with eggs and toast. Food was decent and flavorful. Our server was very attentive that they kept refilling our coffee and water. The only bad side was that we were sitting closed to the back door that goes to the patio, and people kept going in and out from that door. There were often time that the door was stuck and it got cold in the room. However, I will still come back for more breakfast, and would just request to sit else where.

I love diners, run down Americana, and old institutional restaurants that have stood the test of time, surviving despite changing tastes and styles. All this is to say that I was primed to enjoy the Breadboard. Great setting and views; in addition, the staff were friendly and pleasant. I ordered their omelette Olé, which was fine. But their home fries were flavorless, and one of the keys to a good diner is having your potatoes dialed in. Nope. I ended up at a counter, because they were busy, and the table service was sticky. Eww. Not uncleaned, but an old surface that has absorbed years of dirt and grease so that no rag will correct it. A bathroom wall was also sticky. Time to close down for a few days, get a crew in there to sand some surfaces down and restain or paint things. If they did that and paid more attention to their nondescript potatoes, they would earn five stars from me. But when the counter you serve customers at is sticky and uncared for, what must the kitchen be like?

Gotta be honest, this was just OK. The Breadboard omelette was decent but maybe a bit overstuffed with fillings, and the rye toast accompanying was a bit stale. Otherwise, it was fine. My wife's breakfast burrito was good, but was missing the sausage we ordered with it. Vegetable side dish was good, as were my daughter's kiddie pancakes.. Nice outdoor environment on a warm late morning. Service was friendly but slightly haphazard - I had to remind them to remove the missing sausage from the bill. Fine for stopping by I suppose, but not worth going out of your way for unless you specifically value outdoor seating with your breakfast.

Gayle and I returned to Breadboard last week for breakfast. We enjoyed a pleasant walk from the Ashland Springs Hotel to get here, and had a nice meal on their outdoor patio. We both ordered the short stack/eggs/meat combo, with Gayle choosing buttermilk pancakes, with me going for the sourdough version. That was an excellent choice, although I usually lean more towards buttermilk. Service was comfortable, friendly, and prompt.

    High price for average coffee.

Second time here and noticed that coffee is $4.50 per cup. REALLY? It's not a specialty coffee like Starbucks or Dutch Bros so why so expensive? It's just average diner coffee. Will definitely think twice about going back.

Date: 8/12/2025 and temp of while we were waiting on the patio.

We stop by this place maybe 5x a year driving back and forth to/from CA and OR. We like this place and food. The service was so bad - no ownership for the poor service. We stop in for a quick lunch today. We travel with a dog so we were the only people on the patio in 94 degrees (feels like 102) weather. I checked in at the counter before we went out to sit on the patio. A server came out to take our drink order and when I told her we were ready to order, she replied she will get our server out. We got our drinks and we were forgotten. We are one for understanding that we were the only ones outside that I went in to place an order. Some of the servers said, oh you are outside? The drink server says I told them. Then the person that was suppose to be waiting on us said, "oh, that was on me, my bad, I'm sorry, I'll be out there to take your order. " I was pissed by how no one jumped at the opportunity to make good on the poor service. I told the server, I rather place the order than to delay our order more. She took our sandwich order, and I reminder her to add our soft drinks and gave them a tip because tips are shared by all. No, thank you for reminding them to charge me, no offer to fix anything. The Server brought out our food and didn't apologize, didn't offer to refill our drinks, nor didn't check in with us after that. My husband had to go in to ask for more water and more of our soft drinks. I'm hoping someone will read this and make adjustments soon. Thou the lady that was suppose to help us may have been a manager or worse owner? !

Truly a great spot with epic portions for brunch in Ashland. I've heard of their famous Ashland scramble, with tofu, but I chose the Home Fry Meal. Basically the kitchen sink, lots of meat and olives. Boy do I love olives! It was such a big portion I did have to take some home. The pumpkin pancake special was so good. The nuts added a great texture and the marionberry jam was so tasty! Our coffees were consistently filled, our service was great, and love the at home diner vibe!

Love love love this place. The best sausage gravy in Oregon and second best sausage gravy I've had in my life. The mountain man is sooo good and so filling. And the marionberry lemonade so delicious. The service is always good and pretty quick when I've been. And they overall have a good menu I'd love to try more but thus far the mountain man has me in a chokehold. Love the outdoor patio, perfect place to eat on a nice day.

For the BEST Sourdough pancakes you need to go to The Breadboard restaurant. They even have homemade jam. They make all their food from scratch. I had the FULL HOUSE which included Short stacks with two eggs, bacon, and link sausage.

Great Breakfast experience @ The Breadboard in Ashland, OR.! We haven't been here in years and we were happy to check it out again! We had friendly, kind, and attentive service. The cozy space was right off of the main drive and easy to locate and park. Their decor was whimsical as well. Our meals came out quicker than expected and were delicious. My Ashland scramble was savory with plenty of veggies. I would have liked the jam to be seedless, but the sourdough bread was great with just butter. Latte was enjoyable as well and I was happy to take the rest of it in a recyclable cup to go! Definitely a great breakfast option if you're in the area!

The bacon comes crisp, the pancakes fluffy, the omelettes delicate, and the hash browns seared beautifully. Beyond that, they push their menu to incorporate delicious, more elevated ingredients. The smoked bacon omelette is a banger. If you like the carmelized flavor of French onion soup, you'll love this! So rich and deep with umami flavor, melding with diced bacon and fontina cheese. The Belgian waffle is also intense with bits of walnut and bacon baked in, which collides beautifully with hot maple syrup. So delicious! Lastly, I like to champion breakfast spots that have the courage to deliver expertly done hash browns. Breadboard doesn't even try, with the usual "home fries" cop-out (that nobody loves but will tolerate). Brothers serves hash browns, but they're usually soggy and falling apart. Not the case here. You get a nice, flat, crisp, rigid slab of hashbrowns, ready to accompany your main. Overall this is my number one spot for an Ashland breakfast. Definitely worth the small drive from downtown.

This "hidden gem" (pardon the cliché) opened last year by Razia Hayden (owner & chef) and often has live music being played on the enclosed patio. She serves unique savory dishes, inventive desserts and beverages based on her knowledge of global seasonings, rooted in Mediterranean flavors. Most everything is gluten-free, locally sourced and made with spices originating from India, Indonesia, North Africa and the Middle East. I feel a certain kinship with Razia, since her dishes combine spices and flavors that aren't pulled from a cookbook or 3rd party recipe, but purely from her own creative chops, travels and heart. Before diving into her handcrafted chocolate bonbons filled with various creams and ganache (fair trade cacao BTW), I first enjoyed their French toast to prime my sweet-tooth. It comes with three slices of their house-made bread, soaked in an orange blossom custard, finished with a dollop of saffron whipped cream. Other menu items include: Lamb Pilaf with Saffron Rice, Turkish Eggs, Harissa Chicken Crunch, and a unique cardamom-spiced coffee to mention a few. I'll be back to try more! Truth...

We ordered the kebab sandwich and French toast. In total, this ended up being 5 slices of identical fried bread, accented differently. The French toast was not traditionally battered before preparation, so a bit of false advertising if you are expecting a fluffy exterior. It came with several clashing flavors of orange, mango, cardamom, and saffron. Not much subtlety and a little bit of flavor confusion. The kebab sandwich didn't match the menu, which described sliced beef, goat cheese, tamarind, and yogurt. It was rather a heavily cardamom spiced hamburger patty with salad, picked onions, and a light sauce. With missing internal components and no sides, not worth $20. The drinks were also a bit confused, with the aftertaste becoming cloying from too many competing spices and floral elements. While spice is the flavor of life, I'm not sure a spice-forward restaurant is my cup of tea. Perhaps spices should be used more as an accent than a staple.
