Pumpkin Chai & Bloody Mary

Cute little place to get breakfast. We were told "someone would be with us in a moment" after waiting about 5 minutes someone finally took our name and told us it'd be a 15 minute wait. The service once seated was good. The omelette was ok -- personally had too much filling to egg ratio. The au gratin was average, kind of bland IMO but ok.

We had a little bit of a wait but it's a lovely garden setting so we enjoyed it. The food is so flavorful and well-conceived. We loved the salmon crepe with dill (salmon fillet instead of lox) and the huevos rancheros with chorizo (extra charge). The plate is a bit soupy with all of the ingredients and oil but don't let the first impression fool you. The mix of savory chorizo, black beans, pico de gallo, fried egg, and a cilantro (?) pesto go together so well and make for a great taco with the two small corn tortillas they give you. I asked for two more tortillas since it's such a big serving of food.

Gayle's Scramble

Gayle and I started coming to Ashland in 2006, and until COVID hit we stayed at the Peerless and enjoyed Michael's custom breakfasts. I remember Morning Glory have the "Best Breakfast" vibe, but there was no need to go anywhere else when the next Peerless breakfast was just around the corner. Fast forward to this year and with the Peerless under new management (with no breakfast), Gayle and I were staying at the Ashland Springs. Their now $18 so-so breakfast buffet had us reaching out for other options. So one fine Ashland morning, Gayle and I enjoyed a nice to Morning Glory. Considering it's reputation, this was a solid 4 Star experience. It's among the best in Ashland, but with apologies to Toni, maybe not the world. :) The decor was colorful and inviting, our wait guy's service was spot on, coffee was strong and black, and Gayle's scramble and my breakfast sandwich (both with fruit and more than enough to eat) was tasty. We were here on a Thursday morning, meaning that the place was not crazy busy. We then worked our breakfast off via a long walk into the SOU campus and then into the hilly neighborhoods behind. We'll remember that walk as we diligently followed the "Habemus Papam" announcement. This is a place we'll probably return during our next Ashland to OSF trip. Maybe we'll expand our Morning Glory horizons into Lunch?

A delicious piping hot latte and the special wild mushroom crepe with bacon and Gruyère cheese with a garlic cream. What a wonderful treat when I took myself out to breakfast this morning!

Greeter and server were super friendly. The kitchen staff is back there working their butts off. Mostly male staff which is interesting but cool. The food is so good. The classic crepe is amazing. I got a side of the crispy polenta and the chicken sausage and both were amazing. The chai and latte were also perfection. Don't miss this gem.

After a 10 year hiatus was so happy to be back and see the place still humming. Talked to the new owner about the business and the menu and was pleased to create another memory involving their delicious French toast. The service was fantastic and it's always comfortable and cozy being there.

2 stars for the food, the Lemon Ricotta French toast and Sourdough pancakes were pretty good. However we won't be returning, and I'll explain why. After we first got seated after about a 20 minute wait (and there's also no parking anywhere aside from 6 spots) we took 2 available spots at the bar. Shortly after we sat down, one of the workers (I'm not sure if this was one of the owners, but he was working the floor and the register) walked by me, grabbed my hot tea that I brought in, without saying a word, and chucked it in the garbage. At this point, I wasn't sure if it was an accident, or intentional, but I said "excuse me, that was my drink". When I finally got his attention, he looked over and was like "oh, well we don't allow any outside drinks". Which is understandable, but it's extremely rude to grab anything that belongs to a customer without saying anything. Also, there's no signage anywhere saying this. He could have easily said "Hey we don't allow any outside beverages" which would have been fine and I would have taken it back to the car. Anyway, I proceed to ask him to grab my drink back out because he was like "Oh you still want it?" Like bro, this drink was still full. Anyhow there was no apology, which makes me think he either did it intentionally or absentmindedly and didn't want to admit any fault. This should be customer service 101, you don't grab anything from a customer without asking. So for this reason alone, we won't be returning and in all honesty, we probably should have walked out of the restaurant. But we had already waited 20 minutes and didn't want to bother finding another place. But the staff could use a lesson in treating customers better.

We had a great breakfast at Morning Glory. The smoked bacon omelet was delicious and paired well with the side salad, hash browns, chicken sausage, and a fluffy pancake with lemon butter. The cinnamon tea and the orange ginger mint tea were both flavorful and soothing. Overall, tasty food, warm service, cozy vibes! A nice start to the day.

SO. DELICIOUS. We had the classic crepe, strawberry rhubarb crepe, lemon riccota french toast, salmon scramble and avocado scramble. All perfection. The atmosphere was home-y and colourful. The employees were super friendly and attentive. Photo is of the strawberry rhubarb crepe.

Bacon waffle!

Road trip to San Francisco. First and only stop Ashland OR for breakfast at Morning Glory. We were looking for places to eat and this had the best and most reviews. The restaurant is quaint with friendly and eclectic servers. Our waitress recommended the bacon Belgian waffle with maple syrup for that perfect amount of salty and sweet. I ordered that along with the house made breakfast sausage patties while my boyfriend ordered the biscuits with country gravy with hash browns. He demolished his plate. I loved my waffle it was light and airy and was perfect balance with the sausage patties and maple syrup. We didn't wait long for a seat but I would recommend coming early because it does get busy. If I'm ever in Ashland again I would definitely come back

Nice, casual home cooked, fresh, tasty. Not quick, more like a place to linger. Very nice vibe/atmosphere. Not easily accessible for people with physical challenges. But very good coffee and nice outdoor space. Not particularly fast moving, so budget time. Oatmeal pancakes were excellent, with the fruit compote. Hash browns (extra crispy please) were very very good. I didn't try the Benedict but I heard it was good. Unfortunately, the tofu sausage was all but inedible. I like meat substitutes but the flavors/seasonings in this particular sausage did not appeal to me at all.

All this is to say that I was primed to enjoy the Breadboard. Great setting and views; in addition, the staff were friendly and pleasant. I ordered their omelette Olé, which was fine. But their home fries were flavorless, and one of the keys to a good diner is having your potatoes dialed in. Nope. I ended up at a counter, because they were busy, and the table service was sticky. Eww. Not uncleaned, but an old surface that has absorbed years of dirt and grease so that no rag will correct it. A bathroom wall was also sticky. Time to close down for a few days, get a crew in there to sand some surfaces down and restain or paint things. If they did that and paid more attention to their nondescript potatoes, they would earn five stars from me. But when the counter you serve customers at is sticky and uncared for, what must the kitchen be like?

They are melt-in-your-mouth delicious and looked like little polished celestial planets packed in a precious box of 9! This "hidden gem" (pardon the cliché) opened last year by Razia Hayden (owner & chef) and often has live music being played on the enclosed patio. She serves unique savory dishes, inventive desserts and beverages based on her knowledge of global seasonings, rooted in Mediterranean flavors. Most everything is gluten-free, locally sourced and made with spices originating from India, Indonesia, North Africa and the Middle East. I feel a certain kinship with Razia, since her dishes combine spices and flavors that aren't pulled from a cookbook or 3rd party recipe, but purely from her own creative chops, travels and heart. Before diving into her handcrafted chocolate bonbons filled with various creams and ganache (fair trade cacao BTW), I first enjoyed their French toast to prime my sweet-tooth. It comes with three slices of their house-made bread, soaked in an orange blossom custard, finished with a dollop of saffron whipped cream. Other menu items include: Lamb Pilaf with Saffron Rice, Turkish Eggs, Harissa Chicken Crunch, and a unique cardamom-spiced coffee to mention a few. I'll be back to try more! Truth...

We ordered the kebab sandwich and French toast. In total, this ended up being 5 slices of identical fried bread, accented differently. The French toast was not traditionally battered before preparation, so a bit of false advertising if you are expecting a fluffy exterior. It came with several clashing flavors of orange, mango, cardamom, and saffron. Not much subtlety and a little bit of flavor confusion. The kebab sandwich didn't match the menu, which described sliced beef, goat cheese, tamarind, and yogurt. It was rather a heavily cardamom spiced hamburger patty with salad, picked onions, and a light sauce. With missing internal components and no sides, not worth $20. The drinks were also a bit confused, with the aftertaste becoming cloying from too many competing spices and floral elements. While spice is the flavor of life, I'm not sure a spice-forward restaurant is my cup of tea. Perhaps spices should be used more as an accent than a staple.

Since I only had time for about one meal in Ashland, and there are so many interesting sounding places, it was hard to pick one. I chose Ruby's because there is a diner by the same name that I love in Santa Barbara. Also, the menu looked decent on Yelp. The chipotle chicken sandwich featured marinated dark chicken meat topped with fresh tomatoes, red onions, and coleslaw. The flavor of the chicken and the coleslaw was so bomb, and complemented each other perfectly. The bread was kind of like a small French roll. Very soft, fresh, and tasty. It didn't come with any sides, but the price was reasonable, and just the sandwich was enough for me. The inside of the restaurant was very small and cozy. I had planned to go outside when my food came up, but I was so hungry, and it looked so good, I ended up devouring it right there. I barely even had time to snap a pic of half of my sandwich at the "Forever Alone" booth where I was sitting. Staff was friendly and the ambiance was quirky but cute. As a plus, this is a great area to just walk around and explore all the local stores and scenery for a few hours or so. Would def stop by here again if there weren't a million other great sounding places to explore within a quarter-mile radius.
