Great breakfast or lunch spot. The menu has something for everyone. Food is fresh, soups are homemade and delicious. Very friendly service. Order at the counter and food is delivered to your table. Ample seating indoors and outside. We were lucky to visit on a beautiful day and sat outside. Hubs enjoyed his breakfast sandwich and I loved my turkey wrap. The creamy mushroom wild rice soup as scrumptious. read more

What a wonderful place. Was here in 2024 and went here several times this year. The coffee is great, the baked goods are amazing and the food is fantastic. The outdoor seating is great for our pup and the staff are wonderful. Plan on being back in town and will definitely be back. What a great vibe!!! read more

My friend and I traveled here on Day 1 of our trip to Oregon as we needed a pick-me-up after getting off the plane. We ate amazing food and had amazing coffee! The people were kind, the food was good, and the atmosphere was relaxing. We went back again on Day 5 of our trip for lunch and another coffee :) highly recommend! read more

Ordered a Mexican Mocha. It was a basic mocha. Ordered the avocado toast plate, specified NO BACON The eggs were clearly cooked WITH BACON. My eggs were greasy and the taste of bacon was overpowering. There were chunks and little bits of bacon throughout, clearly the chef made special efforts to scrape tiny bits from the cooktop into the eggs. Absolutely unacceptable and revolting. I became violently ill. Not sure who thinks it's funny to prepare food incorrectly in your kitchen Pony Espresso, but you need to have a staff meeting to assure your guests aren't getting contaminated food that can cause allergic reactions. read more

Service was quick and my sandwich was delivered. I ordered the tuna Melt and I couldn't wait for crunchy grilled sandwich. I got a panini The sandwich was dry and I only got a half slice cheese. I would have loved a Melt. 20 buck lunch and I'm not taking home left overs. I love your coffee and treats but C minus on my lunch today. read more

Expensive for what you get. I've been there several times for coffee which was ok but pricey. Cozy little inside area. But this time I ordered lunch - Chinese chicken salad. Wow- it was just shredded Cole slaw with very small pieces of dry cold chicken thrown in. Not very tasty at all. I was so surprised. I totally could have made this myself cheaper, fresher and with warm chicken. Do not pay for this! Service was good otherwise it would be 0 stars in my book. read more

I love this place, i go all the time with my friends! The staff are nice! Sometimes the food quality is not the same. I will get a very good sandwich one day and, I will go the next day only to order the same thing for it to not taste the same and not verry good :( read more

We met some cousins here today for lunch & it was so yummy! We were a party of 8, & everyone was extremely pleased! From a Rueben, tuna melt, BLAT, avocado toast, chicken croissant, Cobb salad, turkey wrap, salmon. You order food at counter, & they serve you. They do ask that you bus your table, but no big deal! $6.60 for a single shot latte?! Insanity. I thought $5.75 was a lot or even the $5.25 I pay for a great latte down the street, but over six dollars is just insane. read more

The BEST chai tea latte in Southern Oregon. They offer either spicy or sweet, OR you can order the combination of both, which is what I recommend. They make DELICIOUS baked goods. LOVED their pumpkin bread!!!! read more

I've been to the location in Medford several times. It is generally perfectly pleasant but nothing spectacular. It was very disappointing today when my son and I went for a drink at 4:45. When the gentleman behind the counter took our order at 4:50, he had already shut down the espresso machine and the blender, so there actually weren't many drinks available. He said that they are open till five- Ish, and they stop serving most drinks at 4:45. I think that's pretty misleading. read more

I have yet to have an exquisite taste experience in this utterly charming coffee shop. I love the interior and exterior of the building in beautiful Jacksonville but I find the coffee drinks too harsh and too sweet. I also find the pastries they offer to be too sweet with not enough unique and special gluten-free offerings. It is incredibly easy to make delicious gluten-free baked goods that are not overly sweet but have a rich, deep flavor. It is also easy to make coffee drinks that that use rich but gentle coffee and that are not made overly sweet. read more

I will say that they have friendly employees. However, the mocha that I have ordered every month is just not good. It tastes like the beans are slightly burnt? This is right across from where I get my massage sessions, so the last few times I have tried the coffee and food have been disappointing. I didn't really love the Reuben that I had a few weeks ago and I didn't really love the breakfast burrito that I had today, mostly because of the salsa. It was overpowering (chipotle?) and I just didn't care for it. So a mocha and breakfast burrito comes to over $15. WTF. My 16 oz mocha wasn't even full! VERY overpriced for what you get and I hate sitting in the hot, dirt parking lot for my food. I will not be patronizing this biz anymore. I'll drive to Starbucks. They get things right. read more

The food always sounds and looks good but we seem to have issues with each order being wrong. Today it was a piece of bacon in a vegetarian sandwich and no avocado in a wrap. Which also included this piece of paper tangled up in chicken. I'm done with this place. read more

Normally I love this place. Today however I came in with my granddaughter and ordered the combo sandwich. You would think it would come with soup right? I was told my side was chips or salad. No soup. So I paid $23.50 plus a tip for two half sandwiches and chips. A whole sandwich is $11 plus change. I paid the price of two whole sandwiches for two halves. And not one of the wait staff could see how it didn't make sense. Oi vey! read more

When we first moved to the Jacksonville area Pony Espresso was on top of their game, service was great and we ordered takeout nearly every weekend but our most recent experiences have been dreadful. Smoothies made before the food is finished so they are not good. Items left off our order. Showing up to pick up the food and unless you are a Grub Hub or Uber Eats driver they forget to tell you when your order is ready. Not sure what happened but I long for the days of the the once great Pony Espresso. read more

Very good breakfasts and coffee. Much nicer than it was a few years ago!! Spring outside is wonderful

Sooooooo expensive! I paid $17 for small iced coffee, kids chocolate milk, and two small muffins. Never again will I stop in.

I'm sorry to write this, but I used to LOVE this place! The food has gone downhill. I've been going to Pony Espresso since the early 2000's. My favorite sandwich was the Turkey Pesto Panini. What they serve now is horrible! 1. It isn't a panini. They don't use a panini press. You can tell that one side of the sandwich has obviously never had heat on it, and the grill marks are missing. 2. They no longer put pesto on it. They put on pesto aioli. Aioli is just boogie mayonnaise, and theirs is overly oily and made with very little pesto. This means the sandwich is missing the pesto flavor. This sandwich went from something truly amazing to something sub-par. I haven't tried any of the other sandwiches lately, to be honest, I'm kind of afraid to. I don't want to be disappointed again. read more

I tried out Pony Espresso a handful of times before I left a review because I wanted to give it a fair chance, but overall I am disappointed. The location is cute and it's clean inside - but the drinks leave room for wanting. My matcha tasted old and I requested that it be sweetened with honey. They failed to do so. I ordered a latte on a different visit and was so dissatisfied with the quality of the coffee. The pastry's were good and tasted fresh. We came in early and it was slow, only a couple other folks in the shop. The servers were polite but they placed my drink on the counter and never said anything. When I asked if it was my drink the server responded as if it was the silliest question they had ever heard. I don't think I'll be back. read more

First time ever going here and I went through the drive thru thinking I'd get faster service lol. Nope.. I had to wait 20 mins parked out front for my 1 sandwich. And not that many places do it anymore, but some sort of apology for the inconvenience like a pastry or an extra "stamp" for next time would have righted this situation. But that didn't happen of course. Won't come here again. As far as the sandwich it was a little over $9 and nothing to write home about. read more

This place has a lot of good about it (good coffee, pastries, mostly friendly staff, atmosphere) but today surprised me. We went to grab a quick lunch to-go and I ordered the half-sandwich combo for $10.75. You can imagine my surprise when after a good 20+ minute wait--I received the teeny-tiniest, dry half-sandwich (bistro roast beef) with almost nothing on it, a bag of chips, and a small cup of iced tea. For $10.75?!! Bummer! read more

I have been wanting to try them and I'm so glad I stopped to do so! I was on the go so I went through the m drive through. I am dairy free and vegetarian and the girl at the drive through made ordering a breeze. Firstly, customer service is a 10. She provided options and recommendations for altering their latte and breakfast options. Secondly, their expresso is delicious which makes me very happy. I will say, if you're ordering food, I'd probably just go inside to order my food and drink. They have you pull up to bring you out your food, which is fine, and nice that they run your food out to you. What I ordered: Kalua Kicker 12 oz (expresso, half and half milk, caramel, coconut and Irish cream) - I substituted for soy milk. Since they're soy milk isn't "Vanilla soy" she added a pump of vanilla. It tastes like heaven and I definitely recommend. Breakfast burrito (custom) with egg, potatoes, avocado and their salsa. Total came out to around $10 and some change. I'd say it's worth it and I'll be back. Next time, I'll be sure to go checkout the inside. read more

Great coffee, food, and service. Everyone in our large party thought this was a great spot. In town for a family reunion and stayed at the Inn down the street. Breakfast the next morning was enjoyed by all. read more

We decided to get a sandwich and ordered a few panini's. We waited to be acknowledged at the counter and then almost reluctantly were asked, what do you want? I ordered a green tea which was poured and was left sitting on the counter. I heard a bell ring and then looked up and asked the girl is that my tea and she nodded. The panini's finally arrived and were OK. The communication there was terrible. Also, you pay at the time you purchase your item and the device asks you for a tip. read more

I love this place. So cute and staff is so friendly. The grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque was so delicious and gourmet tasting !

Wanted to try this place since it seemed popular. Very pricy for just a simple sandwich with nothing extra. You bus your own table why tip when you have to do everything but make the food yourself. My sandwich was tasty however it wasn't worth the price I paid. The employees were nice. Well at least we know now. read more

Took a few of my family there for breakfast. The food was pricy for breakfast food. The portions were adequate, not overwhelming. Everything is made per the order. One family member had a white chocolate mocha. Another had the strawberry lemonade. The huge burrito was cut in half and brought back to the house for the person who didn't attend. The atmosphere was incredibly charming. The staff was friendly and helpful. I am heading back. read more

Just Okay I have been wanting to visit this place for awhile. Finally was able to stop today. I was very disappointed. The staff was great and I liked the outside seating. The drinks were pretty good. My husband ordered an iced mocha and recieved a frapp, but it was very good. I ordered the matcha frapp with almond milk which was good. We also ordered sandwiches. The turkey cranberry used canned cranberry sauce, had too much mayo and needed more lettuce or sprouts. The tuna had absolutely no flavor. Neither sandwich came with a side. For $28 total bill, there should have been a small side of greens or chips. I would come back for the drinks, but not the food. read more

Not like the Ginuwine song of old or the actual Pony Express- this Jacksonville cafe is clean and fast on its feet. You can grab a breakfast sandwich for under five bucks (thanks, Oregon sales tax!) and depending on the day, it'll come out in five minutes, but usually under ten, even on a busy weekend morning. They also have scrambles (think southwestern, Mediterranean, smoked salmon, and so on) that will set you back less than ten bucks a plate. Add in drip and you're still under ten with huge portions to boot! Doesn't hurt that the food is tasty- it ain't fancy, but every single portion sends chills up and down your spine... okay, I promise I'm done with the Ginuwine comparisons. The one aspect I really love about this place is the decor- Pony Express has exposed wood with a painted forest green ceiling and rafters and a red accent wall, all of which set a perfect backdrop for their real stars: local art, a myriad collection of books, plants, antique furnishings, and an old stove which faces opposite from the condiment bar. For goodness' sake, whether on purpose or by accident, even the previously stark-white outlets in here look like they've been antiqued, and yet the clientele in Lycra bike gear reminds you that you're still in the 21st century. Holy cow, I just realized they even have a drive-up window. What is this place? Thank you, Pony Express, for making a wayward traveler feel at home when miles away from it. You rock this town! read more
