I have written a couple bad reviews about Rubys before, but this will be my last. I a LOVE their Rubenstein, but it's become such a crap shoot to get decent service and the sandwich. I walked in at 4pm today, the dining room was full of people but they wouldn't make me a sandwich because they changed their hours and now close at 4pm. First, the good: the breakfast burrito was tasty. The bad: Basically everything else. I ordered a burrito and a decaf americano (they don't have decaf drip coffee). Paid. Sat down with my number. A bit later, the guy comes out and tells me that he doesn't have any decaf coffee ground up and it would take five or six minutes just to grind it. Apparently he doesn't want to do this. I can't have caffeine, don't want juice, so I say, "I'll just take a refund." We proceed to wait 45 minutes for the burrito. The person I'm with goes inside and gets a refill on their regular coffee (no one has come out to update us or refill his coffee in that time). He asks about the status of the burritos. They say they're backed up. But there are several vacant tables inside and out, it is not busy. We finally got the burritos, they were good. But 1) there was more than enough time to grind some coffee grounds and make an Americano in that 45 minutes. 2) I never got refunded for the coffee I didn't get. They said it would go back on my card, didn't happen. The burrito was good but there are a lot of places with good burritos in Medford. The entire experience left a lot to be desired. read more

Went with a 4 because 1. You can't use a gift card from Rubys in Ashland at this location. 2. The Egg sandwich on sourdough was very mediocre. It needs a vinegary component and a slice of tomato... maybe some mayo. But the steak and egg burrito was absolutely delicious. I wish I would have gotten that one. Solid breakfast burrito. I ordered the breakfast burrito "spicy" which means it includes jalapeños. They pre-mix the meats it in it so I was unable to take a particular meat out. It has great flavor. The burrito is large enough to split between two people or keep half for another meal. Very clean. Very popular based on the crowd and take out orders. They switched aspects of my order and my husband's. My husband HATES pickles and they put it on his burger. I asked for pickles and didn't get any. Also, there was absolutely no sauce on the burger and we did take out. I wish I knew that or wish they'd give us ketchup and mustard packets. All around good, decent 3 star food. The kind, friendly service gets them an extra star. We like their variety of mimosas, the kiddos like their burritos and we all like the atmosphere. I love the food here. The service is also amazing. I prefer the summertime so I can sit outside (if you are bundled up the patio is still available) on the patio since the inside is a little small and noisy but they've add some wonderful plants inside and updated the decor so the inside is great now as well. I've been eating a Ruby's for quite some time now. I've never had anything I didn't enjoy. The breakfast burritos are the best in town. At lunch today my brain cells sparked in just the right way and I made a fantastic discovery. You can order Gil's Nachos on fries instead of chips! This amazing concoction will now be my new go-to Ruby's lunch of choice. Next time I'll try adding some Deep Leonard sauce. I love this location and everybody is very nice and helpful when I have questions. I started going here 1-3 times a week during my lunch break. I order ahead and my food is always ready on time. Today I ordered a rice bowl, and this is probably the 4th or 5th time I've ordered one. I usually add chicken which is $4 extra on top of the $10 base charge. So $14 + tip. Today I picked up my order and when the person up front handed it to me I looked at it and obviously noticed it was filled low. I'm sure I had a confused look on my face and I said, "is there chicken in here?" I literally thought they forgot to put it on top or something because there was a huge gap on top. The food is usually touching the lid when I get it. He said "yeah!" and I didn't know what else to say so I went to my car and looked at it further. I have no idea what happened? I'm not sure if they were low on ingredients or something but a good portion of my food just wasn't there. For $14+ I would like my food to be full to the top like it is every other time. I still want to keep coming here because I love the food and the price is fairly affordable. I just want consistency. We are currently on a cross country trip that started in Virginia, right outside of Washington DC. We decided to randomly spend the night in Medford to drive to the Redwoods the next day. Ruby's looked cute so we thought we would try it out. Turns out we would do the whole drive from Virginia to Medford JUST for Ruby's it was THAT GOOD!!! Their milkshake is worth MORE than 3,000miles!!! We would do anything to have their food again!! In fact, we are currently going down the coast of California contemplating turning around to go back! The staff was extremely friendly, the vibe was really fun and laid back, and the food was magical!!!! We ordered a mild breakfast burrito, an English muffin breakfast sandwich with ham, a side of fries with their perfect ranch and spicy sauce, a chocolate milk shake and an iced tea. Today was a travel day for us after spending the week in Bandon and heading back home to Reno, NV. We figured we would leave head out of Bandon and stop in Medford for breakfast so I opened my Yelp app and searched for breakfast burritos at my uncle's request. Ruby's had some great reviews and the breakfast burritos are served all day which was important since we got in just before noon. We arrived just in time to beat the lunch rush. I ordered the Steak and Egg Burrito ($8) but requested cheddar cheese instead of American, a side of crispy fries ($3) and a small coffee ($3). When I was handed the coffee I was informed that I was welcome to a refill as well. Our food was delivered to our table in less than 10 minutes. The fries were hot and crisp. The reason I wanted to try them is because they looked like fresh, hand cut fries - they didn't disappoint. My stepdad is fry connoisseur and remarked at how good the fries were. My mom and I agreed that The Steak and Egg burrito was delicious. I loved the flavor from the onions and banana peppers. The taters, egg and shaved steak were perfectly mixed so you got a little bit of everything in each bite. When I ordered, I was asked if I wanted it mild of spicy. I don't think it had any kind of salad or spice in it though so I was a little confused by what that referred to. My Uncle and Stepdad both got the standard Breakfast Burrito. They praised me for finding another winning food establishment (thanks, Yelp!) The burritos were a great size. I don't think any of us were able to eat the whole thing. While we were eating several table came and went. The guy that was taking orders at the register was also serving the food and clearing/cleaning tables on his own and kept up with it all.
