This place was cute cute cute. Lovely litte shop full of trinkets and such to look at while you wait for your food. The coffee was very good. The bacon was... not. To each their own I suppose. But for all the food that was good--biscuits & gravy, breakfast burrito, scrambled eggs.... the bacon was not among them. It was thin, dried out, and therefore eye rattlingly crunchy. The staff were phenomenal and the custard! oh my... I had never before enjoyed a custard. But this place has me wanting to return asap to get a generous helping of the stuff. For just two coffees and two small sandwiches, that felt like a pretty long wait considering there wasn't many people in the cafe. The croissant sandwiches were the highlight--delicious flavor and well made, though a bit small for $11. Unfortunately, the rest of the order didn't hold up. I got two coffees: a large mocha with almond milk and a small Mexican mocha with oat milk. Neither had much sweetness or mocha flavor, and the oat milk one tasted burnt. I also ordered two morning buns, which didn't seem fresh at all. Even after heating them up at home, they had a stale, day-old texture and taste. They had no problem accommodating our needs and were extremely pleasant about it too. I went to Crater Cafe almost three weeks ago. I had a tiny tiny burrito that had more tortilla than anything on the inside, on top of it they messed up my order. I requested them to contact me online, which they did not. I posted a negative review on Yelp and the owner responded by saying he wish I had allowed them to respond before posting a review. Because I posted a negative review involving tiny portions, mistakes and the cost they never responded? Should respond to a customers inquiry no matter if there is a review tied to it or not. I have gotten a REGULAR burrito from them in the past, not an ultimate burrito and they were never that small. The owner said they have fought hard to keep it customer friendly in spite of spiraling food costs. My burrito was almost $10 and it wasn't even the length of my hand and tiny in width. read more

As a result, the food tastes amazing! Check it out! The ultimate burrito is flavorful, filling and healthy. It's not heavy like a taco truck burrito, so it energizes you instead of putting you in a food coma. For the smoothie, you choose 2 fruits and 1 juice. I chose peach and mango with orange juice. Just delicious. One you CANNOT miss is their custard. I got the custard with strawberry which is great, but honestly, you can get the custard without any toppings and it'll still taste amazing. I've never had anything like it. Give this family-owned business a shot! It's rare to find such a wholesome business, meal and family. I went by Crater Cafe to get an espresso shake (my favorite thing on the menu!) and decided to try the breakfast club and OMG it did NOT disappoint. I had Tim add avocado not realizing it was more of a sweet sandwich, but honestly didn't end up using the syrup because the sandwich, alone, was so good by itself! While I was there I picked up another pint of the great pumpkin custard, because DUH! If you haven't had a chance to check this place out, you definitely need to. When it comes to great service, Crater Cafe delivers. A family-run joint, these folks know how to do what they do, and do it right. The overall vibe of Crater Cafe is a laid-back restaurant/Cafe where you can bring a good book or your laptop, sit back and enjoy a delicious locally roasted Americano or whatever your favorite drink is, and order an excellent breakfast or lunch. Even better? You can do breakfast all day. My go-to item is the pancakes: talk about fluffy, buttermilk style pancakes, these might possibly be the best in the valley! I especially like them with fruit added to the pancakes, bananas being my first choice (duh!!), but I'm not opposed to some blueberries either. What makes Crater Cafe go over the top is that unlike most restaurants for a million miles around, you don't have to pay extra or ask to get delicious real maple syrup (other restaurants read: sacrilege if you have to ask for it people!!) but rather, these folks know it's just a must. Sometimes the weight can be a few minutes to get your food, but that's what happens in a place that's busy: it's a small crew running this place so have some patience when you come in and enjoy yourself by looking around the shoppe in the back of house: the Jackalope Shoppe!
