Here, I got a cup of mostly ice cream, a few tiny chunks of almonds and barely any cookie. Came here on a Sunday afternoon. The line got long pretty quick but the staff didn't seem unfazed and were quick. The ice cream is very good, I don't think you can find the high quality at a store. So I was really disappointed to see that the two groups in front of me and the group behind me were being served without masks. As someone who has ice cream EVERY night, 7-days a week, I couldn't believe I had ordered a cheesecake fantasy (which I've done before) with barely any toppings. This location put two blueberries, and one strawberry and the smallest scoop of graham cracker crumbles. Such few crumbles- I paid EXTRA for more! I took it outside to eat, as I had my service dog with me, and was so disappointed it tasted as if I had just ordered a scoop of ice cream with no toppings! I went in and returned it, as I asked if they could put more toppings without an extra charge and the owner said no. I'm disgusted with this Cold Stone location. First off, I've been to many other locations and they please their customers with toppings! I have eaten here many times on my visits to Medford. It is a very busy and friendly store. It is located very near the entrance to the movie theater in a neighborhood shopping center so foot traffic is substantial. The winters are mild in Medford too so it does a good year round business. The benefit of these traits is that everything is always fresh. Many ice cream spots near my home, including the local Cold Stones, don't have this benefit so often I am faced with limited flavor selections or freezer taste on the ice cream. One of my tests for an ice cream store is the availability of some coffee based flavors. This Cold Stone had a wonderfully fresh and smooth coffee ice cream, into which I had Oreos stirred. It was a great combo, served in my favorite style plain fresh waffle cone. All of the others in our group had very different options and most were very successful. One of the children in the group perhaps overdid the sweetness factor with some blue bubble gum ice cream and some candy mix ins and he ended up tasting others treats. It's pretty awesome that this place is right by the movie theater, because then you (or your girl, depending on who has the purse) can buy a to-go cup of ice cream and smuggle it on in there. Don't worry, people do it all the time. (At least we do.) Anyway, the flavor and combination options are pretty endless here, but it's a bit on the pricey side. Sure, it's not super expensive, but ice cream should be under eight bucks for two people, y'know? The staff is, as one might predict, fairly unpredictable in its consistency -- sometimes you get a good person who gives a crap and other times you don't. Pretty hit-or-miss in that way, and can make the difference between your peanut butter getting mixed in proper or just kind of globbed in there, and that matters. If you're not into breaking the movie theater rules by sneaking it in there, you can also stand outside and watch the gym rats do their thing across the way, and enjoy the dichotomy of an ice cream place across the way from a gym with huge plate glass aquarium windows. read more

I am lactose intolerant. I miss not being able to have ice cream type products sometimes. I've tried several of the lactose free products from the supermarkets but didn't find to be that good. Surprisingly the sorbets they sell contain dairy. I happened to go into Cold Stone with a friend one night after a movie and was surprised to find they had a lactose free sorbet. I tried it and loved it. The orange flavor was wonderful. I have gone back regularly since. They only carry one flavor at a time such as orange, lime, raspberry, watermelon, etc. but I've enjoyed all of them. I was told tonight that they will be carrying three flavors at a time starting this spring. I highly recommend them especially to people who can't have dairy. read more
