I was looking for coffee while visiting from California and I like to support small biz. I noticed this place had a Mexican/Latin vibe going on and decided to check it out. Was quiet there midweek afternoon, thought the decor was awesome, and they had pan dulce! Even in the Bay Area that's not common. Good drinks and sweet bread, friendly smiles. A bright blue building holds this Mexican-themed coffee shop. The pumpkin latte was very good. The small burrito had potato, beans and bits of chorizo. (There is only one kind.) It was okay. Service was friendly. Order at the counter and food/drink is delivered. Inside it is very plain with a few tables and a large couch. read more

If you want an affordable and great tasting coffee, this is the place to go to. The owners, Zuri and Jimena, care about the community and care about the quality of their coffee and service. They're not afraid to give back to the community. The space is perfect for studying or even to have a quick chat. They do have a food/pastry menu so don't hesitate to try it out, especially since the food tastes like home. The beans for the expreso shots are quality and roasted perfectly for no bitterness. Coming from someone who struggles to find a good tasting coffee, I have not been disappointed. Please visit this beautiful space and give these girls the love they deserve. I'd been looking forward to visiting Cafe Mestiza for some time, the renovation from the previous bakery was tasteful, fun, and inviting. Unfortunately their coffee, I had a simple decaf latte with almond milk, was not good, it seemed as if the barista made the espresso and mixed it with hot water and almond milk. There was no froth or body to the latte (I know it can be done because I order the same thing from other coffee shops everyday.) My $6 coffee was served in a to go cup, which I do not like because proper coffee shops at least ask if it's to-go or not, plus plastic liners disintegrate with hot liquid which changes the taste of the coffee and it's just bad for your health. The barista was very pleasant which I appreciated and the cafe was clean. It is hard to order or understand what the cafe offers because the menu is in Spanish only and while I understand the stance for solidarity or creativity, as Spanish isn't the national language and many people do not know Spanish I feel like the customer focus is not what's the priority, my elderly mom couldn't order. Lastly this isn't much of a cafe, they only serve 3 premade items and have a handful of pastries to offer. read more

Cafe Mestiza is a perfect and authentic coffee shop. I ordered La Mañanera and it was super tasty! HIGHLY recommend the tres leches cupcake. Also make sure you checkout their fun bathroom decor. The coffee and treats are excellent but the best part is the staff. If you like to be treated like family--this is the place for you.
