This spot was a block or so from our AirBnB so we gave it a try. Americano coffee was good as was the vanilla latte. We both had a breakfast burrito. They were out of the version with bacon so we had the plain one. Really good actually with scrambled egg, potato, onions, peppers and two kinds of cheese. Served with a side of salsa. The place is filled with dozens of flies. The "croissant" was heavy dough soaked with sweet chocolate. The coffee was actually pretty good. The music consisted of Billie Eilish played at loud volumes. The girls behind the counter were shouting over the music about their relationships. This is not what a man wants at seven in the morning. First off: amazing coffee and great atmosphere. Ashland has amazing food but many coffee places are not or miss. Many coffee shops have bitter or sour taste which is usually due to under extraction. This was not the case with Rogue Roasting, their espresso and coffee was delicious and pulled perfectly. Roco is a local staple of a coffee shop! The ambiance can't be beat! Located a few blocks from downtown, this is the place to avoid the tourists and be surrounded by locals enjoying coffee. There is a good amount of street parking in the surrounding neighborhood. When you walk inside you instantly feel cozy. The wood beam ceilings, the softly playing music, and tucked away seats is phenomenal. It really encompasses the cozy coffee shop work aesthetic. Their drinks are some of the best in town. They always have fun seasonal drink options too which I really enjoy! The baristas are so sweet and are very chatty if you need recommendations. If you come often enough they will even remember your name and greet you as you enter! All the seats along the bench have access to an outlet and the wifi is FAST! I have taken several zoom meetings here with no issues. Roco has a mix of people working or socializing. I personally love the mixed groups but if you are looking for something more quiet- this might not be your stop. Overall, highly recommend this spot! read more

After having tried a few other highly rated Ashland coffee houses, today's experience at RO/CO easily convinced me they are my favorite. Had the pork sausage breakfast sandwich, a chocolate croissant and a Mexican mocha. All were my idea of perfection. I especially appreciated their willingness to warm the food items in an oven, not a microwave. The abundant seating was also a special treat; we ate outside on this gorgeous 80-degree Ashland June day. Couldn't have been nicer! The one thing you will not find for Ashland is discounts. I always check Groupon, SocialLiving, American Airlines dinning and Resturant.com there might have been one discount a few years ago. Only 1 or maybe 2 restaurants use OpenTable for reservations. Nevertheless, I check all these sites before I leave for Ashland. I was very pleased that there was a Groupon for Rogue Valley Roasting Co. It was a good move on their part; it is off the main street and might go unnoticed to many out-of-town visitors, I never saw it and I do wander off mains streets. I had a slice of quiche and went all out and had an espresso shake with espresso chip ice cream both were tasty. Linda had a warm wrap. We share a muffin. We were both to full to have dinner. Ok so this is an update. I generally love this coffee. My husband grabs it for me several times a week. Usually it's ok but lately there's this weird inconsistency in my order. I like the red eye. And today it tastes like there I zero coffee and all sugar. LMy husband kind of got worried because he swears he over heard one of the baristas say six SHOTS of sugar. instead of PUMPS. That's a huge difference. Hes also pretty sure he saw them put the wrong Carmel in. Instead of a drizzle of actual Carmel they used the gross liquidy Carmel. He doesn't drink coffee and sometimes misses these things. Like it's so sweet I cannot even drink it, so total waste of money. I like my coffee early strong. Just wish the consistency would stay the same. Some people who make it, make it wonderfully and it's amazing. I don't know how they get something so wrong while other times it so right. It's kind of upsetting like a coffee roulette. I've been a long time customer and it kinda makes me sad. I guess I'm going to have to find somewhere else. I may try again in the future. read more

Rogue Valley Roasting Co. is a place I've only been to a few times. Just take your pick of inside, porch seating or the back patio seating. The little shop inside is fun to look through. Yesterday, the coffee really hit the spot. The iced coffee in a clear glass I saw several guests walking around with made me want one for sure! I really like that they have beer/wine/cider if you've had your fill of coffee for the day. Any place that has coffee AND beer options is a win in my book! read more

I stopped by Rogue Valley Roasting before heading to Lithia Park, both for the first time....and I was wowed by both! RVR boasts the most homey, warm coffee shop atmosphere I've EVER been in. This place legitimately feels like a cabin, complete with a screen door, which may not even serve a specific purpose if not to add to the authenticity of the cabin feelz (?!?!?) The space is not huge, but has a decent amount of seating. I would come here to do some light work on my laptop or catch up with a friend. What blew me away was their Hot Chocolate ($4.20 after the 5% Ashland food tax). It had a REALLY rich cocoa flavor without being too sweet or too bitter; overall, it was definitely more on the indulgent side. I LOVED IT! Front desk concierge recommended to find a roastery nearby; did my research and found this on a whim. This establishment did very well on practicing social distance and cleaning procedures. Upon walk-in, the floors are marked for patrons to stand 6ft apart. At the order desk, staff are wearing masks and are offering a hand sanitizer station and disposable masks for customers to use. The coffee is really smooth. My partner and I ordered a cold coffee and drip coffee. The owner, gentleman with beard, and his staff, were very friendly. He offered for us to enjoy our coffee outside on the deck and with a gas fireplace to keep us warm. Very cool place to be while accompanying folks. Love this place! I stopped in while driving through town, and got there just after opening. I tried an Americano, a bear claw and the ham and cheese roll up. Everything was sensational!! I was worried that the bear claw wasn't fresh because it was individually wrapped in cling, but it turned out to be the freshest, best bear claw of my life! The staff were super nice, and even though you couldn't linger due to the pandemic, the atmosphere and music were inviting. Outside, they had lots of seating and a cool fireplace. This is the kind of locally owned that feels local. I'm sitting on the lovely remodeled porch at RVRC right now, and the owner is working with a couple of other guys cutting wood to improve a couple of doors, seemingly the finishing touches on a magnificent renovation. This place is BEAUTIFUL, and it feels like home (if you're home had hand-made beautiful wood patio benches, a built in gas fire pit, lovely tile and menu boards, and a seriously fancy Italian espresso machine). My home doesn't have these things and also doesn't have extremely amazing coffee and creative baked goods. So I'm HERE. One more thing, which I say with caution because I want you to come here, buy stuff, tip your genial servers, et al. But...it may be the fastest WiFi I've experienced anywhere. So don't come here and open a home theater on your iPad, but come enjoy the food, liquids, friendly service and just-central-enough spot in Ashland. read more

I was thinking that it was just another cookbook that would take up space in the bookshelf. Not so! It goes into great and interesting depth. How-to and whys and great recipes are here. This cookbook is written by someone who loves their vegetables and condiments. You shouldn't miss it. Gayle and I stopped by as part of one of our Ashland walks. It's a bit distant from downtown, but like many areas in Ashland, its easily accessible by bike or foot. The Rogue Valley Roasting Company is in a neighbourhood house that includes a nice outdoor "porch" area. It's homey and comfortable and is a nice place to hang out with your laptop, book, or friend.
