Panang curry.

Best Thai food in Columbia county BY A LONG SHOT. There is new owners and they for sure tightened up the ship. My wife and I ate here a few times before new ownership and it wasn't bad but was not memorable either. Upon entering the restaurant we were immediately greeted with a warm smile by the new owners. Promptly seated at a great table that was actually clean and wiped off (I say this because so many restaurants fail to wipe the table between custies and next thing you know your forearms are sticky. Not here. The food? This time I'm absolutely blown away by how good it is. The Panang curry is absolutely bananas good. It's thick. Not bland. Perfect amount of curry flavor. Not too spicy. You can taste the coconut milk, spices, chicken and vegetables all separate from each other. The pad Thai was absolutely perfect as well. Noodles were cooked perfect. Lots of chicken. It was just damn good. Even the ice water tasted good. I feel refreshed. I feel good. I'm stoked. I'm ready for the rest of my day. New owners care. It shows in the service and food. That is all.

Came here on a quiet Tuesday evening! Eagles was rocking on the overhead speakers! Sounded like local radio! Having a little old country tunes may have helped with the Thai ambience! No biggie though! Although the sign wait to be seated a kind looking lady came and said sit wherever you want! So that worked. Ordered a glass of ice Thai Tea, which arrived at th spicy Pad Kee Mao(drunkard's noodles) looked like it took almost 15 mins to arrive! But the wait was worth every minute. Absolutely delish!! If I lived in this part of the world, I would make this a regular place to satisfy my hankering for spicy food! Highly recommended!!

I went in this place on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. It is a pan-southeast Asian place (predominantly Laos, Thai, Vietnamese food) with some Americanized Chinese dishes as well. The menu reflects these countries, with an American flavor down to the spice level. If you truly want it spicy, you have to make it clear you don't want it Scappoose Oregon spicy. I don't blame them at all for that since a lot of people would complain if it was authentically spicy. I ordered the salad rolls to start, which don't come with any protein in them. Different than I'm used to, but the roll was tight and the peanut sauce was good (it wasn't sickeningly sweet like a lot of places make). My main dish was the Pad Kee Mao, spice level 4. It was good. It had a bit of heat and I asked for the hot chili oil to adjust it to my taste. The ingredients tasted fresh and the basil was perfect. A lot of food for an affordable price. I like this place, but you do have to ask to make sure you arnt getting an Americanized version of a dish (the pho, for example, does not come with tripe or tendon ...which makes me sad) and it was odd to be given a fortune cookie after a very Thai style meal. But I'd gladly come back. They do a great job and the staff are friendly :)

Try the Lao Nam. It's simple but so tasty. I'd give this restaurant three thumbs up if I could.

Our favorites have always been New York Steak Yakisoba (w/Chicken or Shrimp) Spam Pineapple Fried Rice (AMAZING!) It has taken us a long time to try anything else because these are SO good! But last night we felt adventurous & ordered Pasta Arrabbiata & Pasta Alla Vodka. Now we have 2 more dishes to add to "Our Regulars"! We topped our evening off with an amazing dessert, Pistachio Ricotta Cake. What a delightful combination of flavors!

The flavors of the food across the board are so much stronger and complex than literally all other Chinese food restaurants I've ever patronized. Their operating model, though, is confusing. They have a lot of "ready now" entrees pre-made for immediate service (think "Panda Express"), and several others that are made-to-order. The "made to order" seems to be the better choice, as what's in the "ready to go" section may well have been sitting around long enough to get soggy. I know this from firsthand experience when some of my General Tso's chicken was the last of what was premade, and the rest was fresh. Not surprisingly, the fresh portion was hot and crispy (and DELICIOUS), and the portion from the premade batch was soggy and lukewarm. There are two chairs in the interior for patrons, so be prepared to stand while your order is filled. Parking is easy as Mar's is attached to a unique and charming Country store with its own parking lot.

Thai is my favorite food and it's hard for me to find a place truly deserving of 5 stars. But Eem deserves all 5. We were given a complimentary Field Greens Salad that was a misorder from a different table. It was delicious - fresh and tangy. We ordered family style to try different dishes. My favorite was the White Curry with Brisket Burnt-ends. The brisket melted in your mouth, and blended well with the white curry. The Sweet and Sour Fried Chicken was incredible. Crispy outside, tender on the inside, and amazing flavor. My only qualm is the pieces are on the larger side, but they don't provide a knife. But that didn't stop me! The Thai tea was lightly sweetened, and came with cute umbrellas. I am still thinking about this meal 4 days later, and looking forward to coming again when I'm in Portland next. The demand for this place is great! We got there for an early dinner at 4 PM, with little to no wait. But by 5 PM the wait was over an hour long, so plan accordingly! Inside space was clean, well decorated, and table spaced nicely so you didn't feel too crammed next to other parties.

We weren't sure we'd get a table, but arriving around 5 p.m. worked out perfectly--we snagged a patio table for three and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We ordered a salad, the white curry with burnt ends, mushroom fried rice, and sweet-and-sour chicken, and everything was amazing! The cocktails and mocktails were delicious, too, and came in such fun, playful glasses that made the experience even more memorable. This was such a fun dinner and a spot I'd highly recommend. The surrounding neighborhood is also really cute, with places to grab ice cream or another treat afterward. Definitely worth making room for on your Portland itinerary!

It didn't matter--my wife and I planned on visiting local antique shops anyway--but we were glad to have the warning up front. This was honestly not our first choice, as our other plans were overcrowded with holiday visitors. I was also disappointed that the options presented made me feel like flavor was sacrificed in the name of health. Despite my misgivings, I ordered the fried rice with extra egg and shrimp. My wife ordered shrimp tacos. We finished shopping and sat at the picnic tables which offered some much needed shade on a hot day. We didn't have to wait long. My wife inhaled the tacos and it was telling that she didn't offer me a bite. But that's ok--I didn't want to share my fried rice either. The rice had a nice flavor and the sauce had a mild spicy note that just hit perfectly. There was absolutely nothing to complain about. The food was just fantastic. Basically, all of my expectations were wildly exceeded. We will be back again, but next time Rice & Shine will be the destination of choice.
