Simco's on the bridge has the best take out seafood. My fiance and I always buy the seafood platter. My mother loves their fish sandwiches. It is piled with mouth-watering fish. The milk shakes are thck and smooth. I can not finish a whole shake. Simco's food selection has expanded. I drove 5 people to Simco's last week and they all ordered a seafood selection. The best traditional hot dog you can get anywhere. Nothing fancy or gimmicky, unless you count the fact that it's "foot-long". One huge factor separating this from other dogs the bun. They don't simply toast the bun, the bun is buttered before being lightly pressed on the same grill as the dogs, so it's got small traces of grilled dog char on the golden-brown toasted surface. The dog itself tastes exactly like a hot dog should, real hot dog flavor, with just the right amount of charring and texture, the right snap to each bite. You will always wait about one minute for it, because they always make sure you get it hot off the grill, and I mean hot. Not warm, but very hot, like be careful about taking a big bite too quick. They put the condiments on for you, and they somehow get it perfect almost every time. I've been here many times over the years, and I did get one poor hot dog here months ago. I've been back several times since (they were on three star probation for a little while) and it now appears that all is well. I usually get the hot dog, but I've had the onion rings several times, they're great, my kids have ordered the burgers and fries, those are good, and I ordered the fried clams once on an impulse and was very pleasantly surprised at how good they were. I love fried clams and not-so-good clams anger me. These made me very happy. Speed Dog's in Newmarket Sq is the overall best dog in Boston, but they are in a different class, very fancy, four times the size of a normal dog, soaked in cider before grilling, and much higher priced. This is the only place I've had a remarkable hot dog in Boston, and that's really saying something because for a while, I really searched around for exceptional dogs. In New Jersey, where every other town has a hot dog place that takes seriously its claims to be a local legend, hot dogs are often grilled to within an inch of their life, and best of all plunged into hot oil until they split. Simco's grills their similarly -- the outside leathery and red, the inside bursting with juicy flavor. Best of all, they're a foot long, and they don't waste your time with an overwhelming amount of bread. They're Jersey-worthy dogs, a rarity in this town. Literally had to download this app JUST for this because talking them wasn't getting anywhere. I ordered through Uber and never got a driver after 30 minutes so I called asked if I can pick it up one lady said yes. I another lady at the Uber window wants to give attitude because I came to get my food when I clearly showed her I don't have a driver.Regardless my food is paid for!!! Security had to get my food. Truth be told, I'm a Hot Dog Head and I don't care who knows it! Simco's without question is in the upper echelon of hot dog joints in the city, serving probably the biggest dogs around. Not to mention they toast and butter my buns. Ooh lah lah. The workers are friendly and efficient, which is choice especially if it's cold out. The onion rings are crunchy and fresh, just be sure to have a breath mint after indulging. Make that two. The area may be a little sketch-tastic for most, but I like to think it's misunderstood. Walk-up service only. No seating areas or public restrooms, which is also a bit of a drawback, but PERFECT for 'drive bys' as in grab n' go, not so much the gun part (but in all honesty, maybe). Fat G. coming in with a review about Simco's, a place I decided to go to in preparation for another event. Across the street form Jubilee Christian Church, I heard that this place was famous and checked it out for a snack. The place reminds me of Nathan's in NYC or one of those boardwalk places on the beach. Simco's is located on a busy main street, but is reachable by the 28 bus. Anyways, their menu was pretty standard. They had the typical fried food stuff - hot dog, pizzas, subs, etc and have their own specials as well. I ordered the Hot Dog basket, which came out to $7 and comes with your choice of onion rings or fries. It's a thinner, but longer hot dog. It was cooked longer and tastes better than ones you get at the market, but not by much more. The bun was buttery and the fries were ok. Service was pretty quick. The only thing I didn't like was that there wasn't a seating area and that it was cash only. The nearest ATMs are a block or two away, depending on your bank. I'd probably go there again if I were in the mood for that beach food feel. Recommended for: boardwalk feel, fried foods. read more

I grew up in Mattapan and was really psyched to visit Simco's after a 40 year hiatus. Simco's is known for its foot long all beef hot dogs. The hot dog was perfectly cooked on the grill and kudos to the buttered bun. The hot dog was just a little too salty but that is a small price to pay for a perfectly cooked dog. The onion rings were also perfectly cooked in a corn meal batter. They were a little under salted , but that was easily corrected. Skip the Rasberry Lime Rickey : it was made with a (gasp!) Sprite base as opposed to a soda water base and we had to send it back as way too sweet. I then ordered a mocha frappe: it too was sweet and had a Hershey's chocolate taste and too little coffee flavor. Nevertheless I was glad to visit this childhood icon . Don't expect a view, table seating or much ambience . DO expect a perfectly cooked hot dog and the opportunity to support a local institution that has been around for over 50 years. The strawberry milkshake was delicious, such a shame I couldn't finish it because of the other food I ordered. I had the hot dog and fried shrimp/clams plate. All of it was good. Y would u put clams with the bellies at the bottom so they can absorb all the grease from all the fish, scallops, onion rings and shrimp. I called and spoke to someone and the man asked me to bring it back and he would give me a new one. Now I try not to believe the stereotype that just because were in the hood we can't have anything good but to pay $33 and when I get my remake it's just a regular fisherman platter with fries but u put my clams on the side... Sweet extra long hotdog on a grilled buttery bun. Yum!! This place is in Mattapan, but close enough to the Milton line that you can get in and out in a short time. It's a curbside restaurant with a vintage aesthetic, walk up windows and a huge neon sign. They're open late and they have everything to satisfy your late night munchies. The extra long all beef hotdogs had the perfect texture and flavor and were topped generously with "everything". Surprisingly, it was my first time here even though I heard so much about it while living in Boston. Simco's is located on a small bridge in Mattapan. It's a very busy place but the workers are pretty quick. They are famous for their hot dogs but I didn't think to order one. Let me just say growing up in Boston, you HAD to have had simcos. Of course like everyone else, I thought it was delicious. Especially the seafood, pizzas and calzones. Well guess what. I'll never order from here again EVER. The last time I ordered (a few days ago) The guy answered with an attitude and when I received my order not only was my food cold (least of my worries) I also purchased a drink (red plum Nantucket). The drink was not only already opened, it has some type of bodily fluid inside. It didn't look like spit, it honestly looked like male ejaculation!!!! I kid you not. True story. I'm not 100% but I can't say it looks like anything other. I wish I took a picture but my boyfriend threw it out before I thought of it. Order the Haddock plate regularly on Fridays around noon. Whoever cooks it does a fantastic job. Cooked just right; I get the rice with it sometimes but either the rice or french fries are good. For hot dogs, yes, this is as good as it gets. Simco's by the bridge has been a Mattapan icon probably from at least the 1940's. This is a very old establishment and the hot dogs have not changed a bit. These hot dogs are specially made just for this restaurant as they always have been. you cannot buy them in a store. The rolls are buttered and grilled just like the old days. No seating, you eat outside standing up. There is a wide window ledge you can use if you wish. These hot dogs have been served here for about 75 years so one would imagine they must be somewhat exceptional, and they are. Best Fried clams with belly ever!! They were big and juicy and so were the scallops. I am going to be dreaming about those for some time to come. This place is not in a very nice area of the city but I felt fine and I would have gone into Iraq's war zone for these babies so no biggie.They only take cash so keep that in mind. Grew up around the corner from this location and man I can't believe it's taken me so long to write a review. I grew up when Simco's had the dark kitchen and sold the sour dill pickles from the jar. Could't believe it when the fire happen and then it took a couple but it came better than ever. Having a foot long dog is a blast back to my childhood every time. The dogs are always cooked to perfection and paired with a lime Rickey you're good to go. Moved to Dorchester awhile ago but I know that whenever I want a hot dog it's a 7.25 min drive away. read more

In fact the last time I went to the once fine event known as the Hot Dog Safari I simply kept returning to the Simcos line because they were sooooo awesome.
