These are expensive cars to maintain and while Silver Star is not cheap, it is less expensive than service at MB dealerships and worth every penny. Moreover, you are dealing with the owner who stands behind his work when you talk to Peter. I can honestly say, if it wasn't for Silver Star I could not keep my car on the road. Peter runs a fine shop. This has been my go to spot for my last three Mercedes. Let's face it Mercedes repair is often ridiculously expensive with some pretty sophisticated parts. I have had some odd and random repairs over the years, especially on my S Class. Peter tells you straight about the costs and he can be sensitive to those of us on a budget and divide between must fix and not. When I save up I can always come back and get an honest price. Additionally, he occasionally has previously owned but well maintained vehicles for sale. He will also give any car you are thinking of buying second-hand a thorough once over to prepare you for possible maintenance issues and to avoid a disaster. Because it is not a dealer you will have to make car rental or taxi or Uber ride arrangements. The bus is about four blocks away and can take you to Vienna metro. read more

I don't often take my cars to independent shops, but based on opinions here, figured I'd give Silver Star a try for a minor service on the Merc. So glad I did. The guys were professional, interested in the car, and obviously experienced in their areas of expertise. The shop is outfitted with dealer level equipment, to include diagnostic instrumentation - and it's clean. I came here based on the yelp review because i was trying to avoid the expensive dealerships with getting my ML-55 serviced. Their customer service is very good- they are very patient and their prices are slightly cheaper than a dealership (I got the B service done). They are willing to put in the extra time to quote you prices and do additional research on prices if you ask them to. I felt very valued! It is worth noting that since they aren't a dealer there are select things they cannot do- like fix your ignition (which i needed) since only dealers are allowed to purchase the parts (some anti-theft protocol). Also, the dealer I went to afterward to get my ignition fixed was able to clean all the oxidation from my xenon headlights while Silver Star motors was going to have me purchase entirely new lamp kits (which are REALLY pricey!). Nevertheless, for general maintenance and things other than ignition issues I definitely recommend them! read more

We have been taking our cars to Silver Star Motors for 2 years now. Peter has always been honest & informs us not only of what our car needs, but what it doesn't need. When the Mercedes dealer tried to sell us $4,900 worth of suspension work to the automatic system, one of his technicians (Mike) found that the problem was really much more simple, and we were out the door for less than $500. The issue was fixed, and the problem did not arise again. Mike also fixed the automatic feature on my windows, and set my clock for no extra charge. It is rare to find an honest shop willing to treat the customer correctly versus making the most money they can. They have made us customers for life as far as we are concerned. As long as we own Mercedes, we will take our cars here. Their labor rate is VERY fair compared to the dealerships, and their honesty & attention to detail can't be beat. Bought a car from a gentleman that swore by this business and only took his E350 here. Had all receipts since he owned the car. After purchasing the car from him I had it looked over and discovered the front suspension was replaced 3 years prior, but was set incorrect. Called to ask if they could honor there work and set the suspension correct. Was told sorry 12 months or 12k mile warranty. Nothing was broken it was installed incorrect. For the future always honor work that you've done incorrect. I will never recommend these guys to anyone after that experience. read more

Peter arranged to examine the car while I was there, and when a visual inspection didn't turn up any problems with oil leakage, etc. sent me on my way -- free of charge -- with the promise that he'd investigate further and call me back. True to his word, within 15 minutes he called me to tell me that more than likely at my last oil change the dealership installed the wrong oil filter. I took my '84 300D to Peter and I was very impressed with how knowledgeable and honest he was. He told me that he worked on them for Mercedes-Benz when they were new in the 1980's.
