Since there's so few reviews of this place, I need to add one to make it known. Silver Diner is very famous in the DMV for its offerings and taste. After having the breakfast/brunch many times, it was time to try the dinner options. While I was expecting amazing dinner flavors just like for their breakfast, I was unfortunately a little underwhelmed in most of what we ordered. Brunch = MUST GO Dinner = Maybe somewhere else The burger was NOT cooked to medium but well done (didn't want to send it back) for both me AND my friend, fries were blah (didnt even want to finish them), steak was nothing beyond plain steak, and their salad that our aunt got was just okay. The ONLY memorable part was the shrimp quesadilla which I totally recommend. ; Overall, Silver Diner is AMAZING at breakfast/brunch, but I wouldn't recommend trying their dinner unless you know it and have tried it. Tried here as my "new" restaurant on this baseball trip. Was quite disappointed. The food overall wasn't bad but the server not once checked on us once we got our food. In town on business and this looked like a good place to accommodate vegan & gluten free diets. Location just opened on 10/5. Our server was so joyful! They were so excited to share the menu with us, point out highlights, make suggestions, and was helpful in discussing dietary options. I'm the vegan & ordered the miso glazed Beyond burger (sub garlic spinach for fries), vegan mocha shake and the cucumber mint soda. The burger didn't have the wasabi sour cream to be vegan and I would loved to have had a vegan sauce option. The burger was otherwise pretty good. Kitchen even came out to verify the bun/bread with me to make sure all was vegan. The spinach was meh but I accidentally got fries from the kitchen and they were really good. The shake was delish and I probably got enough for 2 full shakes. Also had the hummus app and it was really good. The cauliflower pita was surprisingly tasty. Coworker had salmon and side of asparagus - said it was delicious but the asparagus needed a bit of salt. Overall really enjoyed this place! read more

This is my first review, ever. I'm generally too lazy and forgiving to actually leave a review but my experiences here have left me no choice but to say something. I live around the corner and have been here a handful of times. No joke, EVERY SINGLE TIME I am seated I am forced to wait an unacceptable amount of time for a server to greet me. I'll share the last three visits. First visit occurred right after the new year. I was seated and as usual no one greeted me. I finally caught the eye of a manager and explained that no one has been by and I was ready to order. Placed my order including a drink order. Manager dropped off the drink and water but no straws. Again, no one was around, so I went to the host stand to get a straw. Then the food arrived. No silverware and no napkins, apparently the host forgot to drop off the paper bag of silverware when they sat me. After eating I complained to the manager my experience and received a business card and was told my next meal was on them. Ok, I can appreciate an off day, especially since I serve part time. A month ago my mom is in a town and I bring her in for lunch. Once again we sat there for a long time before anyone acknowledged us. Actually no one ever did acknowledge us so we got up and left. Today I stopped by for breakfast. Was seated and sat there for ten minutes. No one came around-not one single person! Having lost all patience for this place i went to the host stand and asked for a manager. A manager came out and apologized and offered to buy my breakfast. I declined and told her this is not the first time this has happened. I informed her that she's already offered me a complimentary meal in the past. She explained she had her staff working on a side project and wanted me to give them a second chance. I explained I've given them enough chances and I was taking my business across the street to Gatsby. I do not understand how this place has such a high rating given the experiences I've had here, plus the food is basic as hell. I'm just bummed because this is the one place in Navy Yard that opens before 11:00. read more

This place is very low-key. It's decorated nicely, but this is a good option if you want a casual meal perhaps after doing something at the stadium across the street. They have a lot of options and a variety of choices to choose from on the menu, think typical diner/American food. We got the shrimp scampi, chicken pot pie, chicken tenders, and the fried chicken sandwich. Everything was all right. It isn't something that would rock my world or that I would crave, but it was decent food when we were struggling to find an option that pleased everyone in our party. I do wish the shrimp scampi had more flavor. It was kind of bland. The staff was nice too. read more

Particularly one young lady who is the host, named Fatima. If I could personally give her a raise I would! Our server Shavar was extremely nice, helpful and accommodating. He gave us his recommendations on the menu and after the Nats game it was a little chilly on the patio so accommodated us with a patio heater. Very friendly guy, definitely ask for him if you visit. read more

Live around the corner making this a conveniant spot - lucky for us the food is great as well. My wife and I have twice visited, both times being greeted and seated by Shavar. The food on our first visit was above average so I opted to deviate from my normal fare and had a deluxe shake and Tomato, Mozeralla & pesto sandwich - both were superb! The service was stellar, Shavar took good care of my wife and I and just as we realized we needed something, refill, napkins, etc. he was already on top of it and either brought it or had arranged to have it delivered. Stopped in at about 12:15 on a Tuesday with minimal people in the dinner. Waited about 10 minutes to be seen but took about 40 mins for a cheeseburger and fries. Food was ok but kinda flavorless. After adding salt and pepper to everything it was ok. The biggest problem is all the staff is walking in circles pretending to be busy. This included the manager walking with menus as he saw me with out drink about four times even when trying to get attention. Eight people behind the food bar and I had walk up to get a refill on my bottomless Coke Zero...I see why they brag about this...struggle to get it refilled.
