Um, it was decent, edible. There's a theme to the restaurant, but it feels more like a Village Inn once you're seated. Service started well - we got orders in and food was....delivered. In stages...big pauses between service for the family, but it eventually all arrived. Food is decent. It's not like this is so special you just won't have a life if you don't ever eat it. It's a diner like no other with menu selections more reminiscent of michelin level restaurants. Service has always been very good at every location. I've been to including the one at the BWI airport! We decided to try this Silver Diner because the last time we went to the one in Reston, we noticed how bad the carpeting smelled. To be fair, it has been a while since we were there so I don't know if they had remodeled or not. Since this Silver Diner was a lot newer and had good reviews, we figured we would give it a try. We were here around 4:30 p.m. on a Sunday and there was plenty of seating, both inside and out that was available. We ended up sitting inside. Before coming here, we both knew what we wanted to order. Our server was prompt getting to us and took our drink orders. I chose to have raspberry iced tea while my husband had a Sprite. The server then went to get our drinks. When he returned, we gave him our entree orders. I chose to have the "Classic BLT" which consists of: "Nitrate free bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo, toasted sourdough bread". It comes with a side of coleslaw and a choice of fries or a veggie. I chose the fries. My husband ordered "Summertime Cod" which is a seasonal dish and consists of: "wild caught Icelandic cod over quinoa and pomegranate, grilled tomatoes, asparagus, lemon-garlic sauce". This is one of their low calorie dishes as it had 600 calories in it. The kitchen was a bit on the slow side but not so bad as to be annoying. When the food came out, I noticed that my husband's cod had a strong fishy odor. That's not good at all as it means the fish was spoiled. I pointed this out to him but he said he didn't smell it so he went ahead and ate it. He gave me a small piece to try and, yes, it didn't taste right. Fortunately, he didn't get sick from eating it. My BLT was well prepared and all the ingredients were fresh. The toasted sourdough gave it a nice crunch as did the bacon. The lettuce and tomato portions were quite adequate. I liked the coleslaw as it was mildly flavored. The fries arrived freshly cooked and hot. Our server brought us seconds on our drinks since they were drinks that had free refills. We hadn't even finished the first glasses! At the end of the meal, without asking us, he brought plastic cups with lids so that we could take the drinks home. I let him know that I appreciated it. If the cod didn't smell and tasty fishy, I would have given them 4 stars. Service was great and the place was clean. However, if I ever wanted a fish entree here I would order it with great trepidation---yikes! To me, it questions just how well the BOH is being run. Despite this, we will go back. We know that if my husband spoke up, they would have rectified this. A woman sitting at a booth near us got her entree and kept coughing while she tried to eat it. The service was excellent! Staff is super friendly and hardworking. I ordered the chicken pot pie and it was delicious. The crust was flaky and buttery. Chicken and veggies were perfectly cooked. As you can see in the photo it is a good size. My only thing was using sweet potato instead of a regular potato was a little odd. Place was clean and organized . Plenty of napkins, drinks, seasonings, sauces are provided. I also got a taste of the strawberry shake and it was so good. Parking is easy and there's plenty of. Finally got the chance to eat at this restaurant while my mom was visiting in town. We visited on a busy Sunday afternoon. After a short wait of about 10 minutes, we were seated at a table. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I was surprised to see a full bar which was nice so you weren't limited to the specialty drinks they offered. I opted to try the seasonal pumpkin espresso martini which was very good. You could really taste all the flavors not just the vodka. For my meal I had the stuffed apple French toast. I wish that I would've gotten the cream on the side because it was a bit much and I felt like it took away from the flavors of the French toast and apples. But overall it was pretty good. Found a bug on my daughter's kids meal. We called a manager and he helped take away the dead bug, and then said he would take care of it in our check. We got the check, he took off $1 for the dead bug. We thought it was a mistake, called him over. He was like yea ... I'm taking off $1 for the bug. We paid our bill and left. Before the bug made their grand appearance, they sat us in a booth that was not cleaned and had sticky syrup all over. So we waited there for 15 minutes or so for someone to come over with a rag to wipe it down. When we ordered our food, it came to the table after an hour. Today was a great experience! Our waiter was also the bartender and he was great! His name was Genaro and his suggestions were spot on. They have extended happy hours and we enjoyed a cocktail and an old fashion. Dinner was phenomenal - meatloaf for the hubby. Lots of seats to accommodate large parties as well as small ones. The breakfast options are creative with interesting twists on classics like apple pie stuffed French toast and breakfast tacos. We often order the lumberjack because you get eggs, pancakes, potatoes and a breakfast meat; it's filling and tasty. This last outing, I tried the Philly cheesesteak, it has a good amount of meat, sautéed onions, and white melty cheese. It was surprisingly good, although I was skeptical about a chain restaurant executing a good cheesesteak sub. They have a full bar, pick your poison and enjoy a brunch cocktail. It's been quite some time since I've eaten at a Silver Diner. The menu has drastically changed and from what I could see, there are a lot of healthier options and locally sourced ingredients. Definitely a step up from what I remember about Silver Diner from before. I ordered an Acai Banana milkshake, corn and crab chowder, and a Philly steak omelette.
