Service: 4.5 / Food: 3 Let's talk service - the staff was absolutely amazing! After getting seated, our server came back with 2 hot and 2 iced teas. My older Asian parents, my brother and I were all amazed. That's top service that she knows older Asian folks prefer hot drinks and brings them out without us even asking for it! We also loved that she was so tentative to our food, helped us cook most of our meat, and even served us too! I rarely get a server that's willing to fully cook your meat at KBBQ. If they weren't so understaffed, I would give a full 5 stars for service. As for the food, it was good, but I wish I saw more. The meat was marinated well and the flavors came through. However their side dishes were slightly lacking and not as extravagant. They have the basics - kimchi, seaweed salad, tofu, fish cakes - but none of the fancier dishes - macaroni salad, candied sweet potato, or anchovies. The kimchi in the kimchi pancake was also very small. I think for the wonderful service, I might make Silla my regular KBBQ! read more

Bibimbap is your standard fare. The gomtang and galbi are really good. Also recommend barley tea for your drink.

I'd say it's a shame this place was so tucked away, but that really doesn't seem to stop them from getting all kinds of business. It was packed when we went with a group of seven that had to be divided into two tables of four and three (the large tables were newly occupied), and we suffered from the same slow service that so many other reviews report. Part of it can be attributed to slow staff, but a bigger part just seems to be they're understaffed. Saturday night around 7pm, and there couldn't have been more than three different people working up front for a full restaurant. They wandered to whatever job needed to be done, which you would think would speed things up, but nope. Need a host? Sorry, he's cleaning a table. Waiting on your check? No dice, he's cutting meat at another table. They'll get to you eventually, but whether or not you're high on the priority list is luck of the draw. So why the four stars? Well, the food is damn good. We ordered bulgogi, kalbi, and soondofu, but before any of that came out we dug in deep on the side dishes. They didn't skimp on any of the servings and everything was excellent, though I will say I was disappointed they didn't have the little sweet fish I was accustomed to getting at Seoul and other KBBQ joints. The seafood soondofu was tasty and plentiful. I wish I had remembered to put my egg in earlier before the soup cooled down too much to cook it, but thankfully I'm not squeamish about eating it raw. All the meat was fresh and without too much fat. I only wish there had been more. It was a bit on the pricey side, but I've been spoiled by cheaper establishments. Just a few quick sidenotes for those who may not be acquainted with the Korean style: 1. To get service, push the button on your table. They might take pity on you and visit even if you don't push it, but you'll be exacerbating an already long wait. 2. Don't be afraid to walk up to the counter with your check. They'll generally come to your table at Silla, but, again, you won't be doing yourself any favors if you're in a hurry. 3. Don't be afraid to ask for refills on the side dishes. They're free and awesome, and included in your BBQ bill. 4. Don't plan on going here if you're looking to hit up a bar or club afterwards. The smoke gets "all up ins" your clothes and hair, and you will smell like a walking bulgogi. If You're looking for chicks/dudes who dig that kind of thing, go nuts. Otherwise, plan accordingly. read more

I've been going to Silla since I was a little girl with my family and now as an adult, I still have very fond memories of Silla. First thing is first, the interior design has always just been TERRIBLE. It is not cute or quaint or attractive in anyway. It's just terrible. Anywayyyyyy ahha back to the good stuff. Silla honestly is getting 3 stars from me mainly because of their awesome lunch deals, meaning they have a good deal on their soup during lunch and I am such a soup girl. Their soups are always fantastic, I love the Yukgaejang and any of the Soondubus. Their Mool Naengmyeon is still on point. But other than that, there is nothing too spectacular that it has to offer. The side dishes are not as good as they used to be and I don't really go there to eat KBBQ anymore. It's overpriced for KBBQ in my opinion and the quality is about the same at other restaurants. But like I stated earlier, their soup is enough to always bring me back, especially for lunch when it is on the cheaper end! read more

Korean food in Denver? This is the place go! BBQ is awesome! Try the stews. They have different kinds and they're all pretty damn good. =) read more

Best cold noodle in Denver. And good value for the lunch special of coldnoodle combo with korean bbq rib.

Small restaurant tucked away in a strip mall. Hands down the best "Authentic Korean BBQ" we've had since moving to Colorado! Service was what you'd expect from a Korean restaurant; not too much talking, place your order, your drinks come, then food, eat and pay. Nothing wrong with that. I wish they had more sake options but hey that's okay just order 2 at a time as each sake only pours 3 1/2 shots so if you're there with someone else do yourself a favor and order 2. I'm not a big meat eater but my husband and daughter love bulgogi. The Mandu is just okay. The kimchi pancake is so yummy, you just order that. The kimchi stew is also very good. Piping hot good. So glad we found our go to Korean spot. I'm not sure why this place only has 3 stars. ....until next time! read more

Very bad service, don't feel welcome there at all. Food were late. Potion size were small. Don't let the picture fool u. Don't recommend at all. Soul BBQ or Korean house are way better. read more

Rating on the Bibimbop No flavor, cold, and barely any meat. First place to make this style. Other restaurants, have made it much better. But my rating is primarily on this dish as they do have nice service. read more

This place has gone down hill. Lunch is no longer affordable. La Galbi is super fatty and has absolutely no flavor. They are super stingy with their sides, only a few sides during lunch. Servers are not friendly towards non-korean customers. read more

Silla is one of my favorite traditional Korean restaurants in the area. I love that right when you come in it is full of Koreans which makes me feel i def came to the right place. I usually love going for lunch as the prices are only around $8 dollars pre entree which also includes like 8 side dishes. Totally worth it. They def have the best naengmyeon which is cold buckwheat noodles deal. For $13 dollars you get the noodles and short ribs or giant kimchi dumpling. This time I went I got my mul naengmyeon which is the buckwheat noodles in a icy broth with the short rib and I also got a shimmering soup called taro gookbap, which isn't actually that spicy with a side a rice... I was super hungry The noodles were great and since I was sharing that I asked for another bowl they were sweet enough to give me. Another bowl with broth in it so I didn't have to pour the broth from the original one. However we found hair in the short rib which was gross... they gave us a new one and apologized and gave us free giant dumplings. I was actually going to give them a lower score however they were so apologetic and there service was actually better then usual hence it is four stars... but if I could it would have been 3.5 stars All in all I will still be back read more

Went here for lunch while on a business trip based on the previous reviews here on Yelp and that it was close to my hotel. As someone else mentioned, their lunch special is a very good deal. I had the Daeji Bulgogi which is a spicy pork meat. The lunch came with soup, rice, bean sprouts, and I think some noodles that are called Chap Che. Of course there are four types of Kimchee. Everything was really good. The service wasn't the fastest, but the place was rather full. The biggest drawback was that there isn't a lot of room in the booths because the tables have a grill underneath so my legs were really cramped. This is really just a minor detail, but if you have long legs, be aware. Overall, great food, and I would be back for lunch. Not sure about dinner, as the prices on the menu seemed expensive, maybe you get more then. read more

Ok so wanted some Korean food and my wife said let's try this place. I ordered my usual seafood pancake and bibimbap. The seafood pancake was ok. It was more pancake than seafood. The bibimbap had no flavor and very little meat so I had to put some spicy sauce on it, yet the rice was nice and crunchy. Overall, it was ok. Felt like there are better places in this side of town. So will need to try others. read more

I lived in South Korea for 1 year and ate "korean BBQ" almost weekly. This is one of the most authentic Korean restaurants I've eaten at! From the buttons on the table to call for service, to the menu offerings, to the rice drink after dinner, to the banchan...it was all fantastic. If you are concerned about the service, just locate the button to call a server on your table. It makes things a lot easier. The only disappointment was the sam-guyp-sal (bacon). We did not enjoy it at all. It was flavorless and like cardboard. All the other meat was out-of-this world, though. read more

Nice place for Korean BBQ. I'd only had Korean BBQ once before and it was very comparable. Love all the side dishes and being able to wrap them up in lettuce leaves with tasty freshly cooked, right at the table little pieces of meat just makes me happy all over. I originally ordered the wrong thing and when our server brought out two giant steaks I knew I'd made a mistake. All was quickly remedied when I explained to him what it was that I did want. The staff was quick to please, the food delicious and the atmosphere at bit dumpy. Will go back for sure. read more

Went for lunch today. Ordered the lunch combo with nang myun and kalbi ($9.95). Best nang myun I've had in a while. Kalbi was good too. Came with three small side dishes (kimchee, pickled radish and seasoned bean sprouts). The sweet rice water was a nice way to finish the meal. Seafood soon dubu (tofu) is also legit. Overall, tasty korean food close to home but still not as good as Mom's cooking :) read more

Food is great. I would recommend the mandoo (which is like dumplings. It can come in soup or just without) and the (which translates literally to potato soup, but really it's all about the meat). The service can be spotty depending on who the server is but Mrs. Lee has to be the nicest Korean server in the area. read more

Went with the boyfriend's family, and all of our entrees were huge, hot, and delicious. We even ordered a beer, and because their fridge was broken, they didn't have their full selection, so the owner went out to buy the beer he asked for. We ordered delivery and it was outstanding! Don't do what we did though and order enough for like 10 people. It's easy to do because everything sounds so good. The BBQ comes with small side items (like in the restaurant), so unless you really like extra kimchi, no need to order extra sides. The cold buckwheat noodle is deconstructed in delivery, as others have noted, and is truly excellent. We ordered the Korean sausage soup as well, which I believe was made with pig ear. Very delicious. The kimchi pancake was gigantic. We literally could have just had the soup and pancake and it would have been plenty. But I'm glad we tried more things! read more

We had planned to eat at Korea House yesterday afternoon but it was closed. Their loss was Silla's gain. I had looked up reviews for Silla and wanted to try it anyway. Were we glad we went there. Yummy!! This will be my new "go to" place for Korean food. We ordered the seafood pancake because my friend has not been to Korean before. I wanted him to try it. It was perfectly cooked, crispy and not the slightest bit greasy. My only complaint about it was the octopus (or squid/not sure which it was) was way too chewy. They either need to leave it out or make sure it doesn't get cooked more than 1 minute, max. We took half of it home for today. We also ordered the kimchee soup w/pork and a beef soup with veggies and egg. The flavors of both were just divine. And the many sides were also quite tasty. I only have 3 criticisms of the place, which is what kept me from giving them 5 stars: 1. They don't serve the sides unless you order certain items. Every other Korean place I've eaten at in NYC and the Korea House bring the sides out to everyone when they sit down. I think they should do this. 2. Our waitresses were lacking in their English which created a bit of a language barrier. We ordered 2 waters and 1 hot tea. They brought out 0 water and 2 hot teas. Then when we asked for water one of the waitresses filled the tea glass with water. 3. They didn't clear our plates at the end of the meal, which is a big deal for me. No one wants dirty plates all over the table when they're finished. read more

Every year we celebrate my sister's arrival day from Korea. Long ago, we started with Seoul Food on Washington (now closed). Then we went to Korean Heritage Camp (food cooked by Korean mothers & grandmothers) and could never go back to the Americanized version of Korean food. We've spent the last 10 years on and off at Silla. It's always good and reliable. I don't think we've ever ordered something that was not good. There's been better in Denver but nobody seems to last longer. But get your gumandu fix off of Havannah and Jewell. read more

Got there and first table to be seated! Then they kept coming in! Only 3 other tables were English speakers, rest were Korean. Now only a 5 mile jaunt from the new home in Stapleton. Had tofu stew, did crack the raw egg into it, and it did cook thoroughly, The little cast iron pot is VERY HOT. I wonder if there is a You Tube on the complexities of eating/menu choices in a Korean eatery? read more

Don't get me wrong, I love korean bbq, but sometimes I'm just in the mood for a nice pot of hot soup. I recommend the mushroom hot pot if you're wanting to try something spicy and different from the norm - the mushroom hot pot comes with ample amount of various mushrooms, shrimp, clams, mussels, and beef. Having grown up eating Korean food almost everyday of my childhood, I crave home-cooked Korean food ALLLL the time. This is definitely my go-to place for authentic and delicious Korean food, whether it's BBQ or lesser known dishes, such as Seolleongtang (Ox Bone Soup). It's also a go-to place for several of my Korean friends. My partner and I eat here a minimum of 2-3 times a month. We've not once had a poor meal. The rating should be 4.5 for two critiques: First, they have a pretty wide menu and great offerings for group meals, but it's not quite as developed as I would like (No Dukboki?!?!? What?!?). Second, while the food is always good and the service friendly, they are less consistent on timing and quantity of banchan. If they get too busy, they may take a wee bit longer to visit your table and you don't always know how many different banchans you'll get (banchan=mini korean side dishes that arrive before the meal). Ranges from 5-12. However, even with the critiques, Silla will always be my first recommendation and my favorite Korean restaurant in Denver. Yummy! read more

Best KBBQ in Denver food wise. Tastes like it does in Korea, not overly sweetened or sauced for the average American palate like a lot of the other KBBQ's try to cater to. I thought the food was authentic tasting as soon as I had a few bites of the banchan, and then I saw the Korean grand-mom come out from the back with her apron on and it was confirmed. This is someone who's probably spent a lot of her life cooking this food and has got it down. The kimchijeon, dukbokki, hot bulgogi, kalbi and samgyupsal are all exceptional here. I don't understand why this restaurant is under 4 stars. Maybe the price is a bit steep, or it's not sweet/sauced enough for most Americans' palates? I can only speculate. read more

This is a little piece of Korea right here in Denver. It's a tiny spot tucked away from regular traffic, but man is it yummy! Silla is probably the best korean restaurant in the Denver area. My family has been in Denver for almost 3 decades and they've consistently gone to Silla for korean food. As a heads up, most of the negative parts of reviews have to do with service. It's a cultural thing. I recall that when I went to SKorea, the level of service I experienced was nowhere close to the levels I was accustomed to here in the states. So if you experience service that's not up to your expectations, just keep this in mind. read more

Listen, I was a waiter. I give people the benefit of the doubt when service is subpar, but our experience today was flat out awful. Let's start with the seating: no menus...for a really long time. I finally had to go hunt for menus myself. Not a big deal, I guess. We then got waters...only for me and my wife. Not for my 4 yr-old. Okay, I guess we did have 2 sips left in her water bottle, but come on. We then asked for more water. Several times. Nothing. At the end of the meal, we waited and waited for to-go containers and the bill. More time passed. Finally, I had to force my credit card into the hands of the server while she was sprinting by. When we left a 10% tip, the server had the audacity to ask if anything was wrong. Uhh...only almost everything. Food was fine, but we'll never go back. read more
