Banchan was super fresh and tasty

Looking for late night spot- they are open quite late! Service was very welcoming and friendly and the food was good. I think it's some of the best banchan I've had in the area. My soup was tasty and perfectly seasoned for my spice level. I'm looking forward to coming back to try more dishes and their KBBQ! I loved how intimate it felt- at first it was just me dining along at 9:30 but another group came in as well. Definitely a hidden gem tucked away- give them a try.

For a Korean person, I think that the seasoning might seem on the stronger side - but I think that it fits with what American people might be looking for. They have good service and a lot of different options. Great place for big groups as they have a lot of seating and you probably will not have a probably with parking here!

Shin Myung Gwan was a delicious find by my husband on Reddit of all places. We typically do some sort of Asian meal on Christmas Eve so when my husband sent me a few top spots he found on Reddit I knew I wanted to make that happen. We were not disappointed. I'm definitely not a Korean BBQ expert but the Marinated Beef Bulgogi was some of the best I've ever had. It even warmed up well for leftovers. Surprisingly the standout for me of this meal was their rice... I've never had such perfectly fluffy rice before! And you really can't go wrong with all the sides that come with Korean BBQ. Lastly the Homemade Fried Dumplings were spot on as an app since we were getting hungry by the time we arrived. They felt more veggie forward than your typical pork dumplings and I really wasn't mad about it. The combo of pork, veggies/herbs, and seasoning hit all the right notes.

It was truly a delight to dine here. I throughly enjoyed the marinated Beef Short Rib, which was especially good when wrapped in lettuce and paired with a side of your choosing and dipped in a soy wasabi mix; such a flavorful combination. The egg was especially good with this concoction. I had never had monkish before and was very surprised how tender and delicious it was in the seafood noodle dish. The marinated Beef Bulgogi was so tasty and had a pleasant little kick of heat. And the cheesy ribs were honestly quite surprising. I didn't expect to see cheese on the menu and only had a little bite due to Hank's daily intolerance but they were great. fell right off the bone. A truly wonderful meal, can't wait to come back.

I made reservations for Tuesday night, and I really didn't need them since it wasn't busy. The service was awesome. Our waitress Han explained the barbecue selection really well, and also kept stopping by to help grill and cut our meats. She was super nice. We ordered the marinated chicken, marinated beef and the ribeye. Everything tasted delicious. They gave us lettuce to make lettuce, wraps, and a bunch of other side dishes as well. The meats were so tender and juicy. My favorite was the marinated beef, but the ribeye was also good. Definitely a good Korean barbecue place.

Fun Fact: Shin Myung Gwan sources ingredients directly from Korea! This local, woman owned spot @onhavanastreet may have Korean BBQ as the main part of their signage, but the menu offers so much more. I had the chance to enjoy these two incredible dishes: * Spicy Steamed Monkfish~there truly was a whole monkfish waiting under that mound of noodles, shrimp, and sprouts. My first time having this type of fish, and it won't be my last! Red Spicy Braised Pork Ribs with mozzarella~fall off the bone, cheesey, spicy goodness! And one of the most fun parts of KBBQ was not overlooked. I love trying all of those house crafted bites! * If you're ready to branch out in your exploration of Korean cuisine, this is the place for you. The owner told us, "This is where the Koreans go for Korean food," which, to me, is the best endorsement around. Plus, the service makes you feel like a regular, which adds to the overall positive atmosphere of this exceptional spot.

I always get this soup here whenever i'm in the area and without fail it always hits. Esp with the colder weather it warms me to my bones! Its has the perfect level of spice. And so much food comes with it. This place really reminds me of home :..)

Our favorite restaurant! The food is incredibly delicious and we had the best service from Mimi. We can't wait to go back again and again!

Just meh! Meat quantity in my bibimbap was negligible! Beef bulgogi was on the salty side. Service was good but honestly I've have better Korean food in Denver.

I appreciated that they could make the spicy beef & veggie soup not so spicy buy there was hardly any beef in it. I also ordered a Bibimbap to go and there wasn't much beef in that either.

This Korean restaurant is a must visit OnHavanaStreet and in Aurora, CO. This is a destination Korean bbq spot. There are so many Korean restaurants and barbecues in this area, however this is one that most of the Korean community recommends every time I asked where they like to eat when they miss home. This is a restaurant that cooks recipes, uses spices from Korea (owner flies to LA Korean markets or Small towns in Korea to purchase the hard to source spices) and the chef here cooks like your Korean mama or grandma is in the kitchen! The amazing recipes are authentic flavors & I was told by friends in the Korean community that the menu items are more for a Korean family's palate and not Americanized. I had the awesome opportunity to eat here on 5/7/2021. The restaurant was recently closed to survive the pandemic challenges for five months and re-opened on 5/1/2021. Customers were thrilled and craving the delicious eats from their menu. We began our meal with some Mandoo and Korean Kloud beers! Kloud is like a version of Bud Light and a slight bitter after taste like Heineken to me. I grew up in Hawaii and people in Hawaii typically love Bud Light and/or Heineken I loved their Korean dumplings with the beer and the assortment of ban chan. Yum! Also if you ever go to a Korean restaurant you know that the banchan is a huge part of the meal. I loved every bite of every banchan I ate tonight. I really enjoyed their version of kimchi, cucumber, purple sweet potato with honey) and fish cake. I ate all the banchan with my hot rice, which by the way I had to share is so good! Shin Myung Gwan uses the GOOD RICE. This Japanese girl appreciated the quality rice In addition to all the Ban Chan we also enjoyed the BBQ Galbi, LA GALBI, so tasty with thick cuts of short ribs with grilled peppers and onions served on a sizzling hot plate. It's extra tasty when the kitchen GRILLS the meat over the fire and brings the bbq to the table. However it is sometimes fun to grill your own meats at the table too. The owner recommended to order the Agujjim ( Braised Monkfish). The braised monkfish is highly popular in Korea. The white flesh fish was tender, and the crunchy soybean sprouts nicely complemented the fish with a burst of robust flavor! Some say that monkfish is like the poor man's lobster. I don't know if I agree with that, but it was so delicious. The dish also had some muscles and shrimp. The owner recommended that we eat the fish with a little bit of soy sauce and a side of wasabi. So many layers & so many flavors! It was GOOD! To end the delicious feast we enjoyed some Korean coffee. I loved it! This is a restaurant that I will bring more friends and family to. It's a must if you enjoy good, quality and authentic KOREAN bbq and food. This restaurant is also located in the Yale Place shopping center (Havana & Yale) next to Yum Yum Cake and Pastries (Korean bakery) and across from Milkroll Creamery. So after your super full from the Korean bbq feast definitely try to stop by the bakery for some goodies for later or share a rolled ice cream at Milkroll. Both are also awesome and also a couple of my favorites in the area

Within a few steps away, this strip mall has like 2 KOREAN establishments that is always changing in terms of name or ownership. Man, this location changes so much until it spins my head so much... Nevertheless, we went here for Dinner on a Thursday evening. We arrived at Shin Myung Gwan at about 19:00hrs. At first we cannot decide whether we want to do BBQ or NOT. We ask for a BBQ table, the server open the BBQ glass cover and switch on the BBQ. Then once given the Menu and water, and upon reading the Menu, my friend and I decide to order from the kitchen instead. It seems they are indeed unstaffed. Maybe because its new, with the different name new ownership etc. These are the items we ordered from the kitchen : * ENT05 Spicy Seafood Tofu Soup $10.99 * BBQS03 Marinated Beef Short Rib $35.99 The Spicy Tofu Soup is NOT really that SPICY for our taste buds. The broth is so diluted. More like MEH... We would NOT order this dish again from here. Furthermore, the SEAFOOD inside this Spicy Tofu Soup is very limited and is not of good quality. Take note : For this Spicy Tofu Soup, you can have Beef OR Seafood as your option. The Marinated Beef Short Rib was just SEMI-OK. They are NOT really marinated long enough to taste any "marination" sauce etc. For that price aka at $35.99, we expect MORE. In addition to this, the Marinated Beef Short Ribs is really NOT grilled enough back in their Kitchen. Everything is between semi-OK to OK that evening. At our table there is a call button. When we pressed it, our server came to our table. At that hour, there are not many patrons dining in... Did we went for Dinner on their OFF day or was it NOT so many people know about this establishment. Did we order the wrong items in their Menu?? Maybe?? I may return and perhaps order the LA Galbi instead which was my initial option or some other items in their Menu. At least when we ask the staff, when we need more bachan that we like, he will sent it to our table. I like some of the bachan items that evening. After our Dinner, we exchanged some conversations maybe to the Owner. She happened to be at the Front desk, next to the entrance of Shin Myung Gwan. Above anything else, I wish them many more success in their future business undertakings in this Neighborhood. A toss of 2.5 to 3 stars review that evening. Who knows my review might differ when I return for that LA Galbi which has been calling my name ever since I type this review. Shin Myung Gwang is opened DAILY from 11am to 10pm. Do call them in advance in case there are changes with their operating hours. Left Shin Myung Gwang at about 21:30hrs ish. At least for lunch combo, the thoughtful assortment of main dish and side dishes as well as soup of the day are very satisfactory. Their food is little bit more on a savory side compared to other Korean restaurants who use too many spices. Before I met Baekga, i was pretty disappointed in local franchises of Korean eateries in Colorado, but Baekga not only they have very calm and toned down atmosphere for pleasant meals, it is the venue I would actually bring my visitors to. The location is little far for me to explore their dinner menus but I would love to when I am nearby next time. Champagne kimchi was inspiring. I never had any kind of Kimchi taste like this. I really praise for the creativity. It would be a good pair with a variety of food such as charcuterie board, katsu, sausage dish, barbecue, and simple with wine! I personally liked Dakgangjeong, Beef radish soup (soup of the day), and champagne kimchi from my visit. Frankly, this venue maybe a polarizing Korean restaurant especially for Korean natives, but I personally think this venue deserves more recognition compared to other local Korean franchise in Denver/Aurora who just serve the food items but not the sincerity and/or creativity.

I love a good hot stone bibimbap because of the crispy rice and this was CRISPY. I loved it. The side dishes were the perfect compliment to the dishes too. I will say my only complaint is the beef wasn't as flavorful as some other places but with how much food they're cranking out with only 2 people, they're doing a pretty great job.
