If everything goes smoothly they are great to work with. They have made purchasing NFA items much easier than it used to be. However their customer service needs significant work. I had a circumstance that was out of the ordinary and it took a lot more work than it should have to finally get help and get the help I needed from their customer service. Phone calls take forever to get ahold of anyone and emails took weeks to get a reply. Everything went smooth & efficiently, don't have any complaints. My second time using them. Much easier than in past before Silencer Shop.

First the good stuff: The digitization and automation of the otherwise overwhelming paperwork is fantastic. The kiosk experience for the initial fingerprint recording was smooth as well. The processing of the initial paperwork on their side is faster than expected. They deliver as advertised, and they are pretty clear on the process. Now the not so great stuff: Online inventory is inconsistent. Unclear if out-of-stock items are permanently no longer to be expected or if there's any on back order for future availability. Didn't get to interact much with the customer service, except a few times on the chat, and OMG the dude that handles the chat from their end is horrendous. Rude, brief, patronizing, impatient and not very helpful. Almost feels like he is on a mission to turn customers away rather than keeping them happy or informed. Yikes. The certification process, while automated for the most part, is very clunky. Maybe not totally their fault as that's probably dependent on the interface to the gov database or so, but still - clunky. The app - not sure what's the point. Just to take a selfie..? The Silencer Shop submitted an incomplete ATF Form 4 on my behalf that was disapproved due to one unchecked box. Now I have to resubmit on paper and wait 9-12 months. Shame on them. read more

3 unnecessary trips to the gun shop. First the updated photo didn't go through. Second, false alarm paperwork was ready. Third trip, went back and got in line to get serviced. If i knew that I would have waited theres plenty of evidence that this eform has been causing lots of issues. If that doesn't convince you call their number and hit that option for existing order customers. Let your phone sit there and you can see later how long it took before the representative answered and hung up. It'll usually be around 2 hours of their system saying 20+ minutes. If you have questions about it, or a problem expect that wait. Same with the chat feature. *** MAY UPDATE*** My dealer called saying the suppressor is back on his system. I watch the computer as the process is going. A big page saying POWERED BY SILENCER SHOP comes up and says waiting for an agent. The process goes fine until it says FAILED TO COMPLETE TAX STAMP. We try a couple more times and fail again. Dealer says you gotta call silencer shop. So I waited 2 HOURS AND 20 MINUTES ONLY TO BE HUNG UP ON. I sent an email demanding a supervisor reached out to me. I'm updating this review so y'all know how a troubled purchase is going. I purchased my suppressor with this company end of November last year. That's when the company informed me that they were switching all purchases to eFile automatically and boasted that it will take about 90 days to get the approval from the ATF. The new year rolls around and going into April and have heard NOTHING. I had called around February and Silencer Shop was quick to blame the chosen dealer saying it's their fault and that I should reach out to them. When I spoke to the dealer they informed me that other dealers have been having these problems with Silencer Shop as well. Stuck in limbo I decided to wait it out giving Silencer Shop time to get things figured out. April is here and finally on the 14th I'm told to go e certify. IT'S BEEN 5 MONTHS. Had I just done the paper version we would almost be there! Something goes wrong with the system and my suppressor is deleted during the process. Dealer says call Silencer Shop. Calling Silencer shop is an aggravating experience. You have to wait 2 hours on hold or wait for call back which puts you in a different que and can take even longer. The representative says some specialist will get in contact with me in 24 hours to fix it. Then I hear nothing. A week later I reach out to Silencer Shop again through their chat and am told over and over that a specialist team will handle it. Frustrated I call and wait another 2 hours and am given the same response. At this point I just want my money back to be done with this. TOO BAD it's gonna cost you. The other options are file through paper or transfer it to another dealer and restart the process OR wait it out and see if things get fixed. That's what they told me! Where did my money go? I cannot believe what is happening. This USED TO BE THE GOLDEN STANDARD. I'm beyond frustrated and disappointed and I spoke extremely highly of this store as It's local and they had excellent customer service. I honestly hope your experience is better than mine. Terrible Customer service. They do not respond to emails and have terrible etiquette over the phone. I used to recommend to everyone wanting to get an NFA Item, but from now on I will send them to CapitolArmory. I ordered an Osprey 45 on back order 17-months ago and would often reach out for an update every two months to see where my place in line was. My last update was 4 months ago and all my subsequent emails have been ignored. I am not asking for an ETA, but only my place in line on their back order. They make a terrible situation worse with their terrible customer service. Pls do not respond telling me you have no control over backorders and that you are at the mercy of silencerco. Great marketing, really create the impression they care. Couldn't be farther from the truth. They spam the heck out of you while you decide on the trust and ghost you after that. Their internal processing and response time has zero urgency. This led me to ask for a refund, to which was unresponded to like most my emails, tickets, and calls. They proceeded to ship the suppressor anyways and then tell me I'll have to pay a 35% restock fee now, which translates to hundreds of dollars. On top of all this the dealer they recommended on their website isn't responding. Don't be fooled by their marketing and 100% satisfaction garantie claims. If you are not satisfied, EVEN BEFORE SUBMITTING PAPERWORK, their resolution is to keep almost half your money and give you nothing. read more

I ordered 2 silencers on the same day. Turns out 1 was not in stock, so I exchanged for one that was and was refunded the difference. I completed the transfer paperwork for both. I called to follow up a week later and was told they shipped. Don't expect to just call them, you will be placed on hold for over an hour and then hung up on. If you use the call back feature, they will call you back "sometime" today or tomorrow. Got a call from my local shop that one of my silencers were in. I asked about the other and they said they hadn't seen it yet. went down to complete the certification, but still no other one. Called silencer shop back and was told again that it shipped. Got a call the following week from my local that I was approved. Went down on friday and asked about the other. Told I would need to call SS again. Called again and was told that outgoing shipments were backed up, but it should be sent out soon. Waited another week and called back. Now I'm told there is a balance due that is holding it up. I called them out on how a balance was due when they refunded the difference and why this was the first hearing about it. Suddenly, nevermind we'll start moving forward with this. You can order your silencer from someone that answers the phone and knows what customer service is and pay a small fee to use their Kiosk. Sure they make some of the process easy, but getting a hold of them is a real chore. Took several calls and almost two weeks getting something simple handled. Their $50 charge for their Form1 stuff is a bit steep when you could do the same for free, but you'd think it would be worth it since they are going to help handle everything, but honestly I keep hearing and from my own experience, could've just done the stuff on my own, gotten denied, corrected what needed corrected, and resubmitted in about the same time it takes them to help you. I thought about using them for future transactions, but now I am not sure I want to do that, so I guess time will tell. read more

My first purchase with Silencer Shop (SS) was smooth. The second was a complete disaster. I use a different gun trust for each NFA piurchase. My second application was uploaded to SS along with my updated or second trust by my LGS. However, SS sent in my eform application with my first trust (the wrong one) attached . After waiting eleven months for approval from BATFE, I got a decline' from BATFE because my application did not match up with the item described with the first gun trust. It took several weeks to sort things out. SS lied to me repeatedly and tried tolay the blame with my LGS. I finally got them straightened out and everything resubmitted. But when you resubmit, you go to the back of the BATFE line and start all over again. SS cost me another year's wait time and they would own up tpo their mistake or even refund my initial fee for the botched application. read more

After being bullshitted for a year on their "buy one get one" promotion from JUL18 - I'm now told "I dont qualify because I didnt register with the time frame after my purchase." So basically it took a year from purchase to pickup. They told me they needed to be registered individually NOT concurrently. Also I didnt even receive the serial number until months after their phony "deadline". So I ended up paying 50% more and getting nothing extra for it. Two suppressors for $1100 is a great deal. Horrible customer service! Do not answer the phone or emails! After multiple attempts!!

For the first time in over 3 years I have hit a roadblock with Silencer Shop. Up to the past month I have had nothing but great experiences and purchased 6 suppressors from this business. They built my trust over that period. Sad to say,over the past month, I have emailed upwards of 10x with only a fraction of the questions responded to if they respond at all. Issues requested to be fixed were as minor as changing my account email, linking my wife to my account, and getting the next steps in the process, to a major issue whereby Silencer Shop provided bad guidance to purchase a NFA Trust, and then dropped off in helping me with getting the braced AR (That I specifically requested), now NFA item on the trust. Due to a technicality or lack of guidance, it appears the original instructions may not have been correct or were not fully clarified, and I am stuck with an NFA trust that cannot hold my braced AR, or I have to go through a standard Form 1 process in lieu of the free amnesty period and pay another $255 extra. To make matters worse, no one will acknowledge the screw up and have essentially told me to pound sand. I keep getting passed from support to compliance where once again only part of my email questions are answered. I spent 3 days 40 minutes a day waiting on hold never to get a live person. Today after a 1hr 20 min wait on hold I was able to reach support (A live human being). He pretty much told me sorry, that is a compliance issue, I can send you to them. ***Wait what about the other 4 questions, can you help me with any of those...*** No, but I can put you on hold for IT support. So now here I sit, 2 hr 10 minutes into my call (50 minutes and counting on hold again) to ask them to fix the same glitch on my account and add/link my wife as a responsible party (same thing I have asked on multiple emails.) I would absolutely love to speak with management, but I can't get anyone on the phone. read more

Still trying to work through their process, but what should be a 20 minute form has taken over a week, and it's still not complete. I have no doubt that any moron with half a brain cell could successfully complete a transfer with the ATF before silencer shop would. If you're a permanent resident alient with a "Green Card", run away from this place. They have no idea how to handle non-citizen residents. My wife is from Japan. We are on a trust. I sent the trust and the assignment of trustee is one form, they couldn't read that much in one sitting so I had to resubmit the trust in one document and the assignment in the other. Of course, when you actually submit, they only allow one document...so...dumbasses. Do not use them. Their fingerprinting systems sucks like Stormy Daniels. They have no support. Anything you ask, expect at least 3 business days for a response. If these asshats were in any competitive industry, they'd be out of business. The only thing that keeps them afloat is that they are a niche business. read more
