I needed to torque in my barrel and flash hider but since this is a custom built AR, I needed to make sure I built everything else correctly. They offered to assemble the rest of my components and test fire it. It took about 3 weeks and I finally got it back and it looks awesome! They included the 3 bullet casings to show that they test fired it and I'm very happy with the results. They are very professional and courteous and I think the gunsmithing rates are fair. It would be nice if they would give me a receipt detailing everything that was done tough. Make sure you bring cash here as their fees for credit AND debit card is pretty high. I gave them a tough job. I wanted to have them remove some screws that I thoroughly stripped. They did do the work well, but I think they sent it off to the manufacturer. At any rate it was a good job. The only problem I had was that they were supposed to send me a text when it was finished. I texted them and asked if it was finished, and they said that it was finished come get it. I'm not sure if it was a coincidence, but I'm not sure it was finished the same day I called. They did fix me up for a fair price though. And I was a good job. Trust me, I had fubared the screws for sure. read more

Blackjack Gunsmithing (BG) is a godsend. Recently a fellow gun enthusiast friend of mine passed, leaving a significant number of guns and countless rounds of ammunition to his family. The family called me looking for help. We called BG and within hours AJ (the owner) met us at my friend's residence to discuss the possibility of BG controlling the gun estate sale. By mid-afternoon AJ had taken inventory of all the guns and ammo and transported them to his shop. BG established a vary reasonably priced storage arrangement with the family, along with various sales and consignment options. AJ quickly went to work to determine a market-representative sales price for each gun and develop enticing package deals to include (in many cases) the firearm, optics, holsters, carrying cases and a box or two of ammo. good on supplies. very, very poor on service. not interested in long term relationships with its repeat customers. focused almost soley on sales. i purchased a optics-ready glock for about $ 600-$700 from them. at the time i asked about a laser/light combo they said cost about $100, but was not it stock. said they were ordered. i called back at least a half-dozen times, and got a different story each time: ordered but came in for rifes only; not order for pistols but will order. ordered, and only 4 came in a were sold. supplier now out of stock. i asked them to review amazon and suggest a make and model i would order and they could install. they agreed, but never called back. their website says they will respond to texts. i texted them about whether i could add a surpressor ready barre to my glock which already had a green dot sight on it. no answer.......none. for supplies like ammunition, i may go back because they're close. anything else, i'll be going elsewhere. read more

Based everything i knew about blackjack and AJ from these yelp reviews and i was not disappointed at all. Took my firearm in during this pandemic, was greeted, told AJ what i wanted to do and that's it. I was shown some of stippling work on a firearm he owns to show what it would look like. Was told 3-4 week wait time and the firearm was finished right in that time window I was told. I am more then satisfied with this stipple job and cannot wait time take this firearm back for a RMR cut, cerakote job and now trigger work once i was shown a gun being worked on. The take up was beautiful and the wall just a crisp feel I've never felt on a firearm before 6/2/2020 Update Decided to leave my wife's Glock for AJ and company to do a girly cerakote job on and boy they did not disappoint her expectations at all. read more

I will start at the end. My 30-30 came back stunningly perfect. The movement is smoother and better. The bluing was incredibly smooth and the rifle feels completely solid...even more so than right before I broke it down to its component parts and then delivered it to Blackjack. My review is NOT for the quality of the workmanship. I could put it under glass at a museum it is so beautiful. The purpose for my review is simple. In my opinion, this place is unorganized, sloppy and the customer service is mediocre at best. Now, I am not a serial complainer. I revel in great customer service and I bend over backwards to make sure you know how awesome someone's business is run. That is not the case here. I dropped my gun off to have some rust removed. My lovely bride inadvertently let some water drip onto the leather case in which it was stored. I guess the zipper wasn't completely closed for some water did get in and as there was some obvious surface rust, I suspected some internal components had become rusted as well. So, as the gun was new to me, and I had yet practiced tearing it down and putting it back together, I opted to pay 3 hundo to renovate a gun that is only worth a little over $200.. MY choice. I dropped it off in the last days of October '19 (the 29th to be exact) and was told they were pretty backed up, but that they would have it ready before I leave Austin on December 4th. I called a few days before my departure and told him I'd be by the next day to pick it up. After listening to him apologize profusely (ad nauseum is more like it...), I was told it would be ready in two weeks - on or about the 19th of December. When I called in two weeks (I was going to have them ship it to Arizona), it still wasn't ready, and that it FOR SURE would be ready by the end of the first week in January '20. They 'almost' hit that date, and it was finally ready to pick up one week later on the 10th of January 2020. A 5-week job turned into a 10-week job. They needed approximately 70 days to de-rust and blue a gun. Really... Obviously, it was determined that other jobs were considered more important and I was continually bumped down the fix list. Well, so be it. The inherent cost for doing so is a detailed and prolific review stating the exact dates in an effort to inform my fellow consumers --- that should you utilize this company services, you would be wise to nag Blackjack as often as you can to ensure they be held to their promised timeline. As the saying goes, 'caveat emptor'... read more

Room for improvement: The man-trap door system at the entrance is a bit quirky, especially if you have your hands full. So enter the store with a free hand. So I have had Aj work on most of my guns. Great work. But i recently got a gen 4 glock 22 from him with a conversion barrel and a 9mm mag. The box should have had 3 .40 mags inside of it abd one 9mm mag i got 2 .40 mags and a 9mm mag .he even charged me 20 bucks for the 3rd mag. It even says on the box 3 mags. Called aj on the phone and he said some glocks come with only 2 mags and I said the box says 3 so did it get misplaced?. No this glock 22 only had 2 inside it. So i called glock and debra said for me to get the serial numbers of the gun and the ffl of the seller and they would be happy to replace a missing mag. She also told me that if the box happened to have 2 in it their distributor could have fixed it. She said some dealers sell the 3rd mag. Im not happy he didnt do everything he could to fix it. I would have loved having a quality gunsmith so close to home. read more
