First let me say, this place is totally legit. It is a small shop, but very knowledgeable people. Their selection of used firearms was excellent, and the staff were very professional and friendly! I would highly recommend this Gunsmithing and Firearms Store! read more

So I have had Aj work on most of my guns. Great work. But i recently got a gen 4 glock 22 from him with a conversion barrel and a 9mm mag. The box should have had 3 .40 mags inside of it abd one 9mm mag i got 2 .40 mags and a 9mm mag .he even charged me 20 bucks for the 3rd mag. It even says on the box 3 mags. Called aj on the phone and he said some glocks come with only 2 mags and I said the box says 3 so did it get misplaced?. No this glock 22 only had 2 inside it. So i called glock and debra said for me to get the serial numbers of the gun and the ffl of the seller and they would be happy to replace a missing mag. She also told me that if the box happened to have 2 in it their distributor could have fixed it. She said some dealers sell the 3rd mag. Im not happy he didnt do everything he could to fix it. I would have loved having a quality gunsmith so close to home. read more

I just picked up another pistol that had major trigger work done on. A CZ 75 BD. Not possible to be any more pleased !!! I deal with OCD, so to say I'm hard to please is an understatement. Fast turn around, silly good price & am super happy. Blackjack is just a wonderful experience, from gunsmithing to shopping for a firearm to just talking guns read more

I purchased my first firearm through Blackjack, and I've done business with them ever since. I'd like to highlight all of the following. The team is VERY knowledgeable on every subject I've brought to them with questions from Class 3 items, gun purchases, gun mods, best practices, etc. Working in a customer service role myself you can easily tell that The folks care about you as an individual, are genuine, and want what's best for you. Take all of your business to them if you haven't already, Keep it guys, you are all great at what you do, read more

Great service. I needed a pesky castle nut removed from a buffer tube that i couldn't budge. They don't accept credit cards, so I went to the ATM across the street. By the time I'd got back, the nut was removed and he'd even fitted the new buffer tube for me. Very fast service, with a smile. read more

Great service and turnaround time. I needed my the barrel on my AR-15 cut down, re threaded and crowned . AJ was very helpful in explaining my options and I settled on an 11.5 inches. Turnaround time was about 4 business days. AJ is very approachable and humble compared to others in his profession. Deal with confidence if you're up in North Austin / Cedar Park area. I'll definitely be a repeat customer and bring AJ my other firearms to work on. read more

Exactly what I had hoped to find! (Competent, professional) I needed some Trij night sights installed on my glock 30s and didn't have the tools to do it myself so I hopped on yelp and settled on Blackjack Gunsmithing because of other great reviews of theirs. The turn around time was less than 24 hours and it only cost me $35! Very happy with the service and wouldn't hesitate to bring them bigger/more complicated projects! Keep up the good work! read more

AJ is awesome. Great service, very professional, quick turn around. AJ replaced my factory sights with some new TFO front-rear and the workmanship is excellent. Highly recommend this business. read more

Simply put, AJ is the man. I was having a heck of a time with a roll pin in M1A rifle. AJ got it out, charged me a great price, and explained why I was having trouble. To top it off, he turned it around far faster than he quoted me. I have many weapons, if they ever need any work, AJ will have all of my business. Thank you to a job well done!!! read more

AJ is the man!!! Brought my Beretta PX StormC in to have its safety/decocker elephant ears filed down and have a new low profile slide release lever & plug (purchased from MidWest Gunworks) replaced. Thought about buying the low profile safety parts as well, but no one has them in stock. And that was fortunate for me. AJ did a great job! The "new" safety/decocker lock looks and feels perfect. Another plus: because of his workload, I was told to expect the job to take a 2-3 weeks. One week later, I had it back in my hands and @ the range!!! Outstanding workmanship, saved $$$$ (didn't need to buy add'l parts) and returned earlier than expected. I've found my gunsmith!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Discovered trolling the Internet for a good gunsmith. AJ did a SBS job on a Stoeger Coachgun for me that looks like it came that way from the factory. SBR + threading on a YHM .300 Blackout upper, plus fixed the trigger on my SKS, all for reasonable prices, and in only two weeks (quoted 5-6 weeks for the SBR). When I went to pick up, he installed the QD YHM flashhider while I waited. Professional, quality work. read more

AJ is honest, professional, and does amazing work. What else can you ask for?? I brought in my 12 gauge Winchester and my Model 98 for a cleaning. Not only did he do a fantastic job on them he also had a extra scope that he sold to me for a great price. He mounted and aligned it perfectly. Very happy with everything and he will be getting all my future business read more

AJ is the best in Austin hands down. No job too small. His staff is friendly and he runs a solid operation from quick turnaround times to communication. Whether you need a trigger job, FFL transfer, or a complete rifle build, Blackjack is your go to spot for anything firearm related. read more

Fast quality work! I will be taking all my firearms to AJ from now on. This is a hidden gem hole in the wall type place. I had some sights put on and a trigger installed/fitted on my 1911. Dropped it off Saturday. Received a text on Monday evening that it was ready. Job was done flawless. The price was even better. Thanks AJ! read more

Awesome Gunsmith! I dropped off my Smith & Wesson Shield 9 mm, along with my TruGlo TFX Pro sights and an Apex Trigger kit to get these installed around 3:30 pm on Friday. I was told it would be ready in about a week. But I got a text message this morning around 9 am, yes the very next day! So less than 24 hours later my gun was ready! Needless to say I'm very impressed with their turn around time! The people there are very friendly and very helpful. They do accept credit and debit cards. I highly recommend Blackjack Gunsmith to anyone. read more

AJ runs a first class operation. He most recently cut, crowned and threaded a 308 barrel for me, which turned out fantastic. He also did a repair on some threads on a .22 pistol that were marred - that too turned out great. I'll use him again and would recommend him without hesitation. read more

I wanted to upgrade my sights on my Glock 41 Gen 4, and most shops were talking about dropping the weapon off for a week. I called Blackjack and they told me that they had the Tru-glo's in stock and that they could knock the job out in15 minutes. They told me to come on in. Sure enough AJ completed the upgrade while I waited. I am absolutely please by the sights and the quality of the install. My only complaint that brought Blackjack down to a 4* was their No Credit Card policy. I mean its 2016, get a credit card account and allow debit transactions. I would pay the 3% to not have to go to the ATM. And what the heck is a check. I use bill pay. haven't written a check in years. lol. I still recommend this shop as the best in town. read more

I don't want to write a review of this place and bring more attention to it, because it's such a gem, and I want to keep it to myself, but I should give them the credit they are due. I have not been able to find nearly an extensive used gun collection anywhere else in or around Austin, until I discovered this place! I love antique and used revolvers and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had a fantastic collection. They have SO many used guns, so if you're in the market for one, of any variety, check them out. They offer trades and consignment for guns you wish to part with. AJ also does gunsmithing, and I have not personally needed any servicing done on my guns, but if I do, I will certainly bring them here. There always seems to be a steady flow of customers bringing their guns in for service. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

AJ and his employees are all very nice and professional as well. So far I've had him straighten out the front sight on a rifle that no one else could see the problem with, remove a stripped screw that no one else could figure out, and reassemble an antique that has needed parts and professional assistance for years now. All three projects were finished quickly and for less than I expected. I've gone all over Austin looking for a gunsmith that does quality work in a timely fashion and I've found them in N. Austin. I live in S. Austin and I'll happily make the drive up there to bring them my business. read more

I brought a couple of surplus soviet era firearms to have them cleaned and inspected, and only after a few days the firearms came back to me looking beautiful and ready to fire. AJ and his staff did an excellent job! Check out this great local gun shop. read more

I am so glad I found this place! AJ is awesome. Very professional and knowledgeable. And the staff are amazing. I have had three of my babies worked on and all three experiences have been great. His machine work and coatings are out of this world. In short, this place is great and I highly recommend using AJ and his guys for any firearm needs. Porting to coatings. read more

Fast turnaround good customer service great prices will definitely come back thank you

When dealing with a home theft involving old guns, we didn't know where to start to determine the market values and ages for the police report and insurance paperwork. Blackjack Gunsmithing was highly recommended by a coworker, and they absolutely went above and beyond to help us. I luckily had taken some pictures of the old guns years ago, and after providing these to the shop, they delivered a professional appraisal, determining the make and age of each gun, as well as the value. Their customer service is above and beyond, and I can't thank them enough for all their help. If you need a gun appraisal or anything else gun related, I would go to Blackjack Gunsmithing, hands down. read more

Took my Benelli Super Black Eagle to AJ due to my son abusing it. They looked it over and let me know the rust could be removed, but the barrel had swelled due to firing under water or with the barrel clogged. AJ referred me to a company in Houston who could cut the barrel and rethread it since he would just have to add a fee if he handled it. This was excellent customer service. I would recommend this place. read more

I recently ordered a KE-Arms lower from Brownells and used Blackjack as my FFL as I have done with other firearms in the past. I always like to support local family owned businesses and have never had any issues until today. This time however they insisted I could not inspect the firearm until after the paperwork was done and background check passed. I should have seen a red flag right there but hey I figured everything had always gone well in the past. Sure enough when I went back to pick it up after the background check it was blemished. They insisted I had to deal with Brownells myself and give them the return label and packaging so they could ship it back. I called Brownells and they were very helpful offering to do all that and send a new one upon receipt but said that the FFL is there to handle all of this. I very reluctantly accepted the firearm instead of dealing with all the hassle but will never use this shop again. Too bad, they are local and up until now had been great. If something goes wrong however they are very irresponsible and hands off. read more

friendly staff.. i had my mpx barrel cut. they did a good job. price was average. i will do business here again.

Definitely one of the best places in Austin to get work done on firearms. AJ is honest and has integrity and the rest of the staff is great and very knowledgeable as well. I've taken a pistol in for sight alignment and replacement of the rear sight which they were happy to do at a discount since the replacement rear sight was the same brand and the front sight didn't need any work at all (switched from a 3 dot Ameriglo to an I-dot Ameriglo). They could have just charged me full price... I also took a rifle in to have AJ look at since I was considering cutting the barrel down (21.6" VEPR down to 16.5" ), re-threading and adding a different muzzle device. He said he could definitely do the work I was considering but recommended against it because he was worried about decreased reliability and function. I say again, discouraged me from spending money at his shop after acknowledging he could do the work for the sake of me, the customer and my rifle. That is HONEST service. I still might have him do it because I like tinkering (safely) with my weapons and I would trust the quality of his work. Project guns are fun. Bottom line is this is a great little gunsmithing/gun shop with a cool selection of firearms and a great staff of people. I highly recommend them. read more

I drove past Blackjack for years and recently got into hunting and shooting with other family members. The folks at Blackjack have helped us with transfers, repairs, and questions as we have raised our level of literacy. Their prices are very fair, the service is prompt, and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. We will continue to use them for all of our firearm needs. read more

I've had a number of my builds done by A.J. and his team. I can not speak more highly of a gunsmith that I know and trust. The turnaround times are reasonable as well are the prices. The work is always impeccable. I've had A.J. do small stuff like trigger jobs on my ruger LCP II all the way up to building my mile gun, a ground up 6.5 creedmoor custom. I Would go no where else. read more

I took my M&P 15-22 and my Glock 20 here to see if they could fix why this guns would not shoot good consistently. The MP would shoot a few rounds and jam the glock would shoot a few rounds and then would stop resetting. Dropped them off he called me in less that a week, i picked them up, paid for the services provided, went to the range 2 days after that. They was doing the same thing they was before he "Fixed them" called him and he told me to bring them in, again, less than a week i went and picked them up, and i had to pay again, for what i dunno. I paid, i figured once i leave and they are working fine Im not coming back here. He told me it was the bullets i was using, ok, so i bought different brands. Tested them out and same results, what kills me is that i was charged a second time for something that wasn't fix the first time... the 22 still is not working. I fixed the Glock 20. I just replaced the whole trigger set up. read more

Best gunsmithing shop in Austin by far. I would highly recommend bringing your firearms to Blackjack. Very personal experience. AJ is extremely nice and knowledgeable. I chose Blackjack Gunsmithing because of Yelp. I usually read several reviews before trying a new business especially restaurants. I could have gone to several other local gunsmiths but wanted to give them a try. I had an old 181 series Ruger Mini 14 that had never been fired. It was so gummed up from old oil that I could not even take it apart because I thought I would break something. They took it all apart and replaced a few springs, detailed cleaning and lubrication, and replaced the stock with a Tapco Intrafuse. Perfect job and service was quick. They are extremely knowledgeable and friendly and professional. I am using them again this week for more work. I finally found a gunsmith I can call "mine". read more

NEVER TOUCHING MY GUNS AGAIN. I took my 308 and my AR in for some fairly simple work. The .308 needed a threaded barrel for a muzzle brake, glass bedding the stock and he talked me into a larger bolt knob to boot. The AR need a new gas block and a handguard installed. Well, the .308 was done but not tightened down ( neither the brake or the bolt knob) and the glass bedded stock has married the action to the stock. No kidding...over a year later and I'm still unable to get the action and the stock apart. As for the AR? He DRILLED holes in the handguard. Instead of a simple phone call telling me there was a issue, he drilled extra holes in a $300 handguard to install a new gas block. Instead of a simple phone call! It's been over a year and I'm still infuriated. Blackjack in the LAST place I would ever recommend to anybody for anything. 'Nuff said. read more
