Working on having my version of a 1903 Griffin and Howe Sporter built. Just picked up the stock and action. Bolt modification is perfect and could not be happier with the new ebony tip on the stock. Brought my Remington 700P to AJ to have the trigger polished, the barrel cut and threaded. Also had him glass bed it, lap the bolt and change the bolt handle. Was promised it in 2 weeks. No problem, I was getting ready to travel to the east coast during that time. 3 days later get a text from AJ, the gun was ready. Finally got back from vacation and picked the gun up just as the hurricane hit Texas. Had to wait a few days to get out and shoot it. AJ took a gun that was at best a 1.5 MOA gun and turned it into one that shoots 0.5 MOA. Saw AJ and crew at the gun show in Round Rock and told him how pleased I was with the gun. I recommend him to everyone I talk to that mentions needing some work done on a gun. I will be back next time I have a project. read more

I have only done transfers with them so far, but while I was in there I noted some of the weapons they had for sale to price check when I got home and found they were quite reasonable. Combine that with their excellent customer service, and I think I'll be coming back for anything else I need. Cash only, but that's a minor inconvenience. read more

I walk in and was immediately greeted with a smile. I had an issue with my new sling adapter and not being able pull my bolt to the rear on my AR 15. One of the gentlemen in the back literally stopped what he was doing to take a look at it. I was in and out in less than 7 mins and on top of that she told me she wasn't charging me. Been going to AJ for a couple of years now and he has always done outstanding work... and I am picky to say the least.

Overall a *great* little shop with friendly, helpful staff. Dropped off a handgun for a basic sight swap and got it back faster than they quoted when I dropped it off. Downside was the front sight wasn't mechanically zeroed when I initially got my handgun back. Had them take it back to recenter the sight and it came back *still* not centered. Gave it back one more time and **still** wasn't centered. Not like I had a ruler out; it was obvious to the naked eye. (Plus, I shouldn't have to ask for sights to be zeroed in the first place!) Got home and saw the rear sight was off too. Frustrating. To top it all off there's scoring on both sides of my brand new (expensive) sights from the tools they used to install/adjust them. Hard to see going back here, even though it's two minutes from my place, but we'll see. I'm sure my experience was rare. read more

AJ is the man! So is his staff, (and one talented young lady), which knows more about firearms than I ever will, at 58. Everything I bring in, AJ always says "I can fix it, just bring it in.) Then in 1-3 days later I get a text from him that reads "Your guns are ready." Amazing! a couple of times they did jobs while I waited, unlike other shops I've had dealings with, but I'm not going to go into the bad experiences (at other shops) here, as much as I want to. I came back the following week to have him build me a custom AR-10 as I couldn't find on ego match my needs. Best in town! Other gunsmiths around here will keep your gun for a month at time for simple jobs. I was shocked when my 1911 was ready for pickup a couple of days after I dropped it off with a broken extractor. In a nutshell, AJ does great work, he does it quickly, and at a great price. read more

I took in a War Sport upper that needed the muzzle brake pinned and welded. AJ did a killer job and knows not to make it so clean that it couldn't be inspected to verify that it was legal since the barrel was a 14.7. He cleaned it up just enough to make it look nice but to where you could still see the weld. I highly recommend Blackjack for this service and I'll be taking in another upper soon for the same service! read more

Terrible customer service! I bought my wife a Benelli 20 Gauge for her birthday and took the gun in to have the stock cut down for her. This was on August 31st and I was told it would take 10 days to two weeks. We were leaving for a hunting trip on the 16th so I called Monday and asked when the gun would be ready. I was told by AJ it would be ready Wednesday afternoon and I could pick it up Thursday. I walked in Thursday and they had not even started on the gun. Since they had no sense of urgency, I took my gun and found another shop to do the work. Do not believe the time frame they give you. I live in the neighborhood and will never return to Blackjack Gunsmithing. read more

They fixed two of my shotguns and refinished one. I had a trigger reset issue shortly afterwards and took it back in. It was a completely different issue from before and they fix it for free. God people to deal with. read more

Did some severe damage to the barrel of my MP5. AJ was able to cut and recrown my barrel, and to my suprise he went above and beyond repairing several other points of damage to the barrel and tri-lug, and even reblued. Thrilled to have a quality gunsmith such a short drive away! read more
