She was great with my wife (a first time pistol shooter) and we tried out 3 different guns. I booked a separate session to try out 2 more and a previous gun to decide on a purchase. I can't say enough positive things about this place and Kelsey. The laser screens and CO2 magazines give a great live shooting simulation and the scenarios allow you to practice situations that you'd never be able to imitate at a static shooting range. While the zombie apocalypse and clown courses are extremely fun and takes you across 3 large screens, I find the video scenarios and walk through with Kelsey are more then worth the price of admission. You learn so much, not only about the technical aspects and being able to practice moving and drawing from the holster, but about the mental applications as well. How fast things can escalate, what verbal cues you need to be mindful of, the importance of moving while returning fire and what is and is not a justified shot. Whether you are an experienced shooter, or are looking to learn, Kelsey is SO patient, and kind. She is able to explain concepts without making you feel stupid or uncomfortable. I highly recommend her to any woman, or anyone wanting to introduce their female companions to shooting. She does a lot within the community and works with Women only groups to make it a welcoming and comfortable environment. Do yourself a favor and sign up for any and all of her courses. What a treat. I don't even know where to begin!! My husband and I recently got our LTC and went to Austin for a quick getaway and stumbled upon this gem. Whether you are seasoned or new to firearms, THIS IS A MUST. Daisy taught my husband and I SO much while we were there (for 2 hours) and we didn't even want to leave. Learning defensive skills the CIA, FBI, etc. train with is invaluable. So life-like and in such a safe environment. If we didn't have another appointment, we could have easily gone another 2 hours. It was fun and eye opening at the same time. Daisy was a fantastic and patient instructor. We loved every minute of it. It was the highlight of our trip!! Had a great experience here today. I'm an experienced shooter but my wife and her sister are not and we all had a great time. We took a basic course and then progressed into some scenario drills to warm up to the zombie apocalypse scenario. The drills were challenging and were all a lot of fun. Daisy did a great job of normalizing for the skill gap so we could all do the same drills together. Safety- wise, she was meticulous about cleaning and taking Covid precautions. We used sanitizer when we walked in, wore masks, and all the gear was wiped down right after use. The range is safe, quiet, and clean since the guns are CO2 powered. This was an amazing experience as an adult bday activity and our group all wants to go back and do it again. The instruction was educational for beginners while challenging enough for more advanced shooters as well. We had fun but also felt like we learned or regained more confidence while not wasting ammo. Fun, unique experience!! I have been to a gun range once before but I was never taught about how to properly handle a pistol (holding, reloading, techniques). This wasn't just target practice like most fun ranges, it was an experience! My friends and I (2 girls, 2 guys) were presented with scenarios that included moving targets, 1v1, 2v2 competitions, video game like zombie shooting and simulated real life experiences! Daisy took us through maybe 14 different scenarios and she was so patient throughout the whole process. She always provided constructive criticism and we could tell she really wanted to help us improve. She has a lot of passion for guns and taught us more than we expected. After 1 hour, we were having so much fun, we extended our session another hour. Definitely worth it!! read more

This was my first time to Valor and they put together a fantastic hour of training including some scenario based work. It was great to work on drawing and reholstering using my own everyday carry holster during the training! My reloads came along a ton during the training as well. This was my first time at a virtual range, and I was very impressed! Kelsey and Steven were great instructors and guided me through all types of different stress shooting scenarios - something not really possible at standard pistol ranges. There are multiple advantages of not using live ammunition at this range. 1) You can fire as many rounds as you want without worrying about the ~50c/shot of real 9mm ammo. 2) You can practice many different techniques without risk of harming yourself or anyone else nearby. Valor Defense Academy is one of my best finds and I'll be highly recommending it to anyone who wants to practice shooting. read more

This place is fantastic!!! We a booked a 2-hour beginner class for two (one of us is an experienced shooter and I am basically a beginner. Kelsey (spelling?) and Jade were our instructors and they kept our entire 2-hour session engaging and fun. They covered all the basics in gun safety, mechanics, technique, lingo, posture, Texas gun laws, etc. and still managed to give us plenty of time to practice and dabble in some scenario-based drills. I would strongly recommend this to all of the women out there looking to sharpen their situational awareness, defense tactics, and overall confidence in handling guns. We went here for my father-in-laws bday. Daisy was so informative and fun! She taught us proper gun safety rules and how to control and aim a gun properly. The guns are real but instead of bullets they use CO2 cartridges. The training simulation set up is realistic and fun! Daisy had us practice and critiqued our control and aim. You have to check this place out! My girlfriend and I visited Valor Defense Academy for the first time a few weeks ago. I have 20 years active duty military experience and my girlfriend has almost no experience with firearms of any kind. This place was an awesome fit for both of us. We were welcomed in by Daisy who offered us a Free Demo. Daisy was able to give my girl friend who up to this point was very afraid of firearms a very effective and safe overview of how to safely handle and accurately fire the pistols. The pistols that they use are real Glock 19 gen 4 I think, that have been modified to fire a CO2 magazine and solid barrel just in case to not allow any live ammo. The recoil and simulation reaction to the shots was very realistic. I have used simulated technology similar to this while on active duty, however I feel that this is more interactive and an overall better experience. She ran us through tons of scenarios, I feel like she has an infinite source. Everyone from beginners to experts with firearms would enjoy this place and be able to sharpen your skills.
