If you read other 1-star reviews, you can see, I am not the only one who have problems with their staff. I approached one of "instructors" seeking to resolve the question - I came with the kid, can't leave her alone, but my friend needed help with a handgun. He didn't even try to understand the issue. Instead he escalated the situation, accused me in "causing problems" and made me leave the range. So I left for good.

Both Lee and Raul are an excellent teachers and very knowledgeable from their respective military and law enforcement experience. The classes are informative and have lots of good detail as well as easy to understand. They brings their respective insights into the classroom and the class time went by very fast. Time on the range was good and both were present to make sure things went smoothly and make suggestions on how we were shooting. They both patiently answered questions in class and on the range. The only negative was the class was rather large (about 16 folks), but by splitting up the rooms when it went time for some hands on learning, it seemed to work just fine. I would definitely recommend Safety Measures.

While filling out the required paperwork for the LTC, I found out you could take classroom portion online! There were quite a few options available, so I looked for a local Austin (well, Leander) based business to support. I signed up for the LTC Austin online course to keep myself busy during the current Stay-at-Home order. The courses were thorough and easy to navigate. I really appreciated being able to do it on my own time, rather than sitting in a classroom for 5 hours like I had to do in Florida. It was a great refresher for a lot of basics and coming from another state, I found the coverage of Texas specific laws incredibly valuable, having seen many of the signs posted around town already. They have a partnership with Shady Oaks Gun Range in Cedar Park that I plan on scheduling my LTC Proficiency Demonstration with as soon as they are able to start booking them again.

We took a basic course and then progressed into some scenario drills to warm up to the zombie apocalypse scenario. The drills were challenging and were all a lot of fun. Daisy did a great job of normalizing for the skill gap so we could all do the same drills together. Safety- wise, she was meticulous about cleaning and taking Covid precautions. We used sanitizer when we walked in, wore masks, and all the gear was wiped down right after use. The range is safe, quiet, and clean since the guns are CO2 powered. I would definitely come back!

I won't even think about going anywhere else for further work on my shooting skills. Even if you are not a new shooter, I HIGHLY recommend taking their course. Their approach to learning is not just how to operate your gun, proper two-hand grip, obtain sight, and pull the trigger. They give you the experience of what it feels like to shoot single handed, how it feels when a gun jams, how to safely clear a gun jam when possible, how it feels to shoot a target close up (like an assailant who is in your personal space), and many other perspectives you may not think of. Again, you can't go wrong with CAPS. You will not find another team like John and Julianna. As for being a woman shooter, you will not find anyone who will teach you how to handle your weapon like Julianna.

He included some suggestions for defense that I had not even considered, believing (mistakenly) that they were illegal. He provided me with resources for materials and services which complemented the training, and made sure I understood how and when to use them. He was patient and answered questions completely. You may have complete confidence that you will understand your rights and responsibilities when you leave. I do think, however, that he was a little surprised that an old, fat guy with one leg in a wheelchair could black out the X ring with a puny little 9mm in less than 20 rounds.
