He also helped my wife find a pistol that better fit her hands. It was my wifes first time shooting a rifle and by the end of class she was able to hit a target at 300 yards. We would recommend this training center to our friends and family, we will be taking classes here again.

Overall, this was an amazing experience which has significantly challenged and enhanced my skills. I can't wait to practice what we learned again at the range, as well progress with additional courses they offer. This is no weekend warrior shit. These guys are seasoned professionals who can coach you if your smart enough to close your mouth, and open your ears. Here is more details... I found Texas tactical Training institute on YELP, and while they had no reviews, their information and photos intrigued me to make a call and have an initial discussion. I spoke with Tim over the phone for more than 20 minutes, explaining what I was looking for and what he could recommend. He explained he was a former police officer who was now focussed on offering firearm training experiences for people of all skill levels, at a price that didn't scare people away. Within minutes you could feel his passion coming through the phone, and i was eager to get something scheduled. I shared the idea with a friend and we signed up for a 4-hour 'Intro to movement - pistol' class for the upcoming weekend. We were excited at the idea of receiving some training to improve our skills, but unsure what two 'seasoned' gun owners would be able to learn in just 4 hours. A few days ahead of the training day, we received instructions by email of where to meet the course instructor, and what to bring with us. On the day itself, it was unusually cold...39 degrees in April cold. This elevated the training to a new level, as we were both not prepared or used to shooting in such cold climate. When our hands were not tucked deep into our pockets in a effort to once again feel our fingers, our hands were a little shaky when shooting (or at least that was my excuse on the day.. he he). We started with a short yet descriptive safety brief, and jumped straight into some dry-fire exercises of turning 90 degrees and firing on the 'threat'. That is the word Instructor Dustin used when telling us to engage the target... "Threat". At that moment you would turn the 90 degrees, or 180 degrees, or start moving and shooting from various positions indicated by black circles of spray paint in the dirt that had just been created by Dustin and his his fellow Instructor Brian. Over the course of 4 hours we were introduced to various shooting exercises involving moving and shooting. My favorite phrase of the day (aside from "threat", which meant you were being told to engage the target), was "Push, Plant, Pull", which described your movements from one position to another. The push and planting refers to your feet, and the pull... well you can guess what that is for. We continued learning and practicing through the bitter 39 degree weather, breaking only for a few minutes here and there to return to the truck in an attempt to warm up and feel our fingers again. Dustin was an exceptional coach. He would watch you follow his instructions and offer specific minor changes to your body position, feet position, pistol grip, the elevation of my hands in relation to my eyes, and other small tweaks. All of which felt a little uncomfortable at first, kind of like I was shooting for the first time. However, this was a strong introduction to a new understanding that all my previous experience shooting was from a static position with no accountability of each round pushed through a paper target. I strongly recommend this training to firearm owners of all ages and skill levels. I also strongly recommend the 'intro to movement - pistol' course to anyone with a LTC, or someone looking to improve their skills.

This training ranch is a hidden gem! Secluded and away from distractions yet close enough to…read moredowntown Marble Falls for a post-training bite and brewski. The country-drive to and from here is beautiful. It's quintessential Texas Hill Country! So when I say hidden, I mean, Jeff or one of his assistants must meet you at the front gate next to FM 1431. From there you'll be escorted up to the training area. You just have to follow Jeff/his assistant up the fire road leading to the grounds. When we met up with him he was driving his UTV. I suggest you drive a vehicle with decent ground clearance on the day of. No need for a 12" suspension lift or anything crazy like that, just ensure you're not driving a low slung vehicle like a sports car during your visit, LOL! Note: The ranch (actually a few ranches) shares a front gate with Hidden Falls Adventure Park. When you arrive at the grounds you'll notice it's next to Jeff's residence. How awesome is that?! Wake up, pour some coffee in a sippy cup, hop on the UTV and shoot a few rounds at some silhouettes or steel before the rooster even sounds the alarm! Wooohoo! I'm not a jealous kind of guy but... Anyhow, yes, Jeff's training was spot on! I won't go into the details. No spoiler alerts here. But like most valuable training you must first learn the basics and fundamentals before the more advanced techniques can be explored. Think of firearms training like a house. If the foundation is less than sturdy, no matter how great the house looks above the foundation, once some rockin' begins, the house will falter. So get the fundamentals mastered to avoid faltering. Besides firearms instruction, he can provide a Texas DPS accredited Texas LTC course. I already had my LTC but my much better half returned to complete the LTC program soon after. BTW: The safety brief and lunch breaks are held in his air conditioned living-room so please be southern-comfort mannered. =) Jeff is a great and patient instructor. That is important especially because folks learn at different paces. Some learn slower than others but that's ok. Heck, I didn't know I was tying my shoelaces incorrectly until I was in my early 30's! No wonder my knots would always come loose, LOL! Have fun y'all but most importantly, be safe!i

He included some suggestions for defense that I had not even considered, believing (mistakenly) that they were illegal. He provided me with resources for materials and services which complemented the training, and made sure I understood how and when to use them. He was patient and answered questions completely. You may have complete confidence that you will understand your rights and responsibilities when you leave. I do think, however, that he was a little surprised that an old, fat guy with one leg in a wheelchair could black out the X ring with a puny little 9mm in less than 20 rounds.

With his advice, I was able to find a handgun with which I'm very comfortable. As a woman, I appreciated that Jorge did not patronize me or sugarcoat real-life issues to consider and prepare for. I highly recommend training at the Citadel, especially for those unfamiliar with guns and the laws of Texas.

I spent around 4 hours training with Mike, and he is legit. I asked a few ex military folks in the community and they all vouched that he is the real deal. Mike also helped me troubleshoot my firearm, as it was not firing reliably. He was patient and very supportive during the troubleshooting process and volunteered to help me research the issue after the training. He also offered to meet me at a gun shop when I decide to pick out a new firearm, to make sure the grip is right for the size of my hand, my current firearm is a no-go because of the narrow grip (wish I would have known that before dropping $1400). I'll be returning to train more with Mike. I feel at ease now with my firearm, and under Mike's wing, I look forward to sharpening my skills so that I can be prepared to protect myself and my family if that day ever comes. Thank you Mike. - Ed in Dripping
