I had a great experience will Bill today. I had zero experience with guns and wanted to finally learn, I was starting from knowing almost nothing. I wasn't raised with them, I never shot one and I was honestly a little afraid to learn. Bill is patient, he went over all the safety stuff in detail (he included my 13 year old daughter for no extra charge). I felt 100% comfortable before I held a loaded gun. I learned how to safely load and unload multiple types of hand guns, how to hold them safely and then how to shoot and with Bill's instruction I was pretty darn good at it . Bill is an excellent instructor who really knows the material, and has a wealth of experience to share. Each question was treated seriously, and he's absolutely committed to finding answers to anything he cannot immediately answer. Bill's experience teaching Boy Scouts and working with Texas Law Shield add a couple more notches on his belt. The range we went to for the certification is rugged, and outdoors - this appealed to me significantly more than an indoor range, and provided, in my opinion, a much more realistic approach to using a firearm. While on the range, Bill's instructions are absolutely clear. Bill is infinitely patient, kind, and provides clear, consistent instruction in an environment that never feels rushed, and feels safe at all times. Safety is #1 on the range. We had a student who needed another chance at certifying, and Bill willingly offered his time to the student. What a great guy - I am entirely pleased with my experience, and would recommend anyone who wants to have instruction that is top of the line and without parallel to seek out Bill and his excellent program. read more

Bill is a great instructor! This class was not only informative, but fun as well. Bill was straight to the point, no beating around the bush, and was quick to answer questions. His communication prior to the class was top notch as well. When weather was getting bad, Bill made sure to communicate to the group that the class was still a go, and that we had contingency plans if it rained on the outdoor range. Speaking of the group, there only 8 of us, allowing for a much more personalized class. I think that everyone in the course had at least one question, and Bill was able to help each one of them/us as if it were a one-on-one course. We shared some laughs, learned a bit and even made a few friends among our classmates. Bill is very professional, engaged in his work, and provides a great class. He's got a website with all the information. You take the class, do a written exam, then go to the range in Manor and do the firearm test. All 8 of us in my class passed, it seems like almost everyone passes. You can either do the DPS paperwork before or after you take the class. He signs a form and gives it to you to mail in. Bill keeps up to date with all the changes in the law. Bill is considerate of all skill levels and knowledge and displays a high level of professionalism. I came with a great deal of experience and observed his patience with a couple of people who brought firearms to the range that they have never fired before. I don't know that I could have done the same. The classroom time when quickly with sufficient breaks and questions were either answered immediately or deferred with a promise that he would get back to us with answers. In some cases there were legal advice questions - don't expect these to be answered. These questions require counsel from a lawyer. Side note: For those of you who have not fired the gun before or are new, please take a beginners course such as his Bill's First Steps class then practice. read more

Great class. I highly recommend Bill's LTC class in north Austin. He knows his stuff and keeps a good pace throughout the course. He covers a lot of ground during the session and questions are encouraged. The range qualification process was very efficient. Bill explained what we would be doing before we left the classroom. The ARC has a dedicated range for LTC qualification, so we were able to complete the qualification process in under 20 minutes. I can't recommend this class enough. Bill is a great guy and instructor. He is very knowledgeable, and the course went smoothly. He provided a Glock 9 MM and 50 rounds for me to shoot, first time shooting a semi-auto and he helped me with proper grip and operation to get me going.
