Unfortunately the fees just keep going up. If you bid $3,000 you better believe you will actually pay $3989.80 that is TOO MUCH " fees to purchase a vehicle at an auction. I see vehicles that get auctioned off over & over & over & over again because once you receive the invoice it's a totally different number than you expected. It used to be around 18% but it's up to around 33% in the last couple months. Also buyer beware. I've purchased vehicles that are in the running vehicle section but they not only didn't run they had the engine partially taken apart and a full back seat of parts. Not kidding. Also they do not tell you if there is something very seriously wrong. They sell " running vehicles " that knock louder than you've ever heard a car knock. I have seen several people broken down within 1000 feet of the exit on the same day lmfao. Seriously do not think it's good deal because you better expect 33% added and also keep in mind that these vehicles are at an auction because NOBODY else wanted to be associated with the sale of the vehicle read more

I've bought a few things from Sierra over the last 18 months or so and the staff have always been great. The staff is busy, but they will help you load up with a forklift or whatever when they get some time. I've noticed a few things in common with a lot of the negative reviews, so here's come advice. 1. Take the time to go down there and inspect the items before bidding. Especially vehicles. This is true for an auction or Craigslist. I can't believe how many reviewers have complained after they couldn't be bothered to show up for the preview. 2. This is an auto auction, not a dealer. Don't expect Toyota Certified cars for $400. Sheesh. 3. Do the math before you bid. All of their pricing is clearly spelled out on the website, so I don't understand why so many people complain that they were blindsided by fees. read more

Twice this has happened to us. We bid online for 70s vintage cars for restoration and while we had valid high bids we lost the first cars and had the second auction closed without the "3-2-1" warning. Both cars went for amounts much less than their value. The first time we had the same bid amount as an onsite bidder. Our bid was placed nearly a week prior to the auction, and we were on the line while the auction was going on. We knew the car was undervalued and expected to have to bid more to win the auction. The car was sold to an onsite bidder for the SAME PRICE as our online bid. Not even an increment above the SAME PRICE. When we complained we were told, too bad. The second time we had placed an online bid and was outbid. We decided that we wanted the car and planned to bid live. We knew we were bidding against an onsite bidder. The auction closed suddenly, no warning, no one-two-three chances to bid again. It just closed nearly as soon as it opened. So we lost another car. My suspicion is that there is someone who works there cherry picking cars and keeping them out of a fair price. I would NEVER place a car there for consignment because I think it's a rigged auction. If I ever decide to bid again, I will only do this onsite. I suspect it's harder to cheat people when they are onsite. read more

They are not what they or advertise the picture looks nothing like the vehicle in person and they only will take a picture of the speedometer where it shows the mileage if there's a check engine light on. They don't tell you that the car hardly drives or if any lights are on the dash if there is they will crop those out so you only see the mileage they have nothing but garbage car DONT waste your time nor money with them it's not worth the disappointment or headache read more

This used to be a great place to win things, now it's been the worst customer service comparatively speaking. Nellis and Auction nation have much better customer service. When you try to zelle them and their zelle shows as "This zellepay@sierraauction.com has been suspended. Call (844) 228-7641 to resolve the issue." They do nothing to assist you. You end up paying their "service" fee alongside their "auction" fee. And if you don't pay, you get blacklisted. read more

Busy Place Bit Good Deals I've been attending sierra auctions for about 10 years, maybe even longer! I've gotten many really good deals here on lots of different things from tools, vehicles, shelves for the garage, and even a bunch of guns! I haven't been to this auction house in quite a while, at least a year! It seems there are a bunch of new people working there now, where are used to know a lot of the original people as I shopped here almost every auction. The girls in the office are always friendly and have a good sense of humor which makes the experience more pleasant. My experience as a buyer here I would say it is 85% positive. The only complaint can be the long lines of people as this auction company does their best to try to get through the horrendous crowds on an auction day. I usually prefer to pick up all my auction goods the day after to avoid the terrible crowds. My experience as a seller only occurred one time. I gave them over $100,000 of jewelry for a high-end jewelry auction they did a decent job and sold about 60 to 70% of what I brought them. My complaint is that well I had the most expensive products in their auction and they made a fortune literally selling my little bit of stuff, they were absolutely unwilling to negotiate on the high commission rate that would be more acceptable if I was selling things that were less expensive and not as worth their while. One of my items they made over $3000 commission alone on which it sort of seems a bit excessive considering my products were the biggest player for quality in that auction. Normally auction houses give you a good deal if you are regular buyer and also bringing in items of value that are sure to sell. All in all this is definitely a worthwhile auction to buy from you just need to make an informed decision as to what you're willing to pay for a commission and then evaluate how well you think they will market your goods to ensure that the premium amount possible is earned from the sale. read more

Motorcycle I bid on showed additional lights. I called and talked to Jared, the lot manager and he confirmed they would be left on bike. When I received it, it had been stripped of 8 of the 10 lights. They refused to reimburse me or replace the lights they took off. I relied on the picture to show "as is, where is" but it really was "not as shown, we take off what we deem necessary after you buy it". UNACCEPTABLE. Overall, very pleased with Sierra's handling of their auctions. I have spent in the tens of thousands at their Auction's this year and they really get some great items through their doors. I personally like their off site auctions at their client's locations. They just are not so congested and are easier to navigate. It can be hit or miss as to how many people are there and bidding on the items you want. I have found historically that at their larger auctions, there is enough to go around so to speak. You will see many of the same people at every auction and I have made some great local and out of state contacts through that. Their auctioneers especially know how to engage the bidders and I appreciate that as it makes the task of spending lots of money fun. I recommend paying in cash to save the 3% Credit Card Fee. Also, read up on their auction terms and types of auctions as I always see someone that got confused and ended up buying more then they should even though the auctioneers called out the terms at the beginning. These things move fast and I found it best when first getting started to watch one whole auction before ever bidding so you understand the flow. The only thing I would really like to see them hone in on is customer service. Occasionally, issues arise and I think it would be great if they had one point of contact or phone number available to assist bidders. This applies more so to their online auctions as there is always plenty of staff available on site. This could be a positive for them as they could follow-up with the larger spenders as well and remind them to get their butts to the next auction. So great experience! Go buy some stuff! read more

This is a horrible auction that list lower miles when knowing it is wrong. I bought a car from them on their on line auction that was listed with 22,000 miles. When I received the car I pulled the vin and it was listed with 221,000 miles. Not worth the dirt it was sitting on. When I called the auction company they just told me that that was my fault for not checking the miles on it. Horrible, bait and switch and fraudulent listing the miles. Contacting my lawyer. Here's the critical detail they think I left out. They have a title with over 200,000 miles on it. Verified on 2/18/21. But at auction it mysteriously has 22,000 miles. Having a box C does not release this company to be able to committing fraud in order to raise the price. The company and owners official stance is to do nothing. Not address the odometer fair or the the consumer fraud. They received the car and title with 221,000 miles Actual, verified. Then while in their possession for less than 30 days the odometer only has 22,000. Then failed to disclose that information at auction so buyer can make an educated decision. The company has sold thousands of vehicles and knows listing the car at 22,000 miles will being a sales in the thousands but a vehicle with 221,000 miles will only bring a few hundred dollars. They did not fix the title nor address or advertise the actual mile verified. There is no offer on the table to resolve this issue. Their stance is for me to take them to court. read more

Reading through other reviews, I felt I needed to comment. I have bought many items and have had issues with a couple. All issues wee handled quickly and professionally. The pictures and descriptions are spot on. They offer a preview day so you can actually inspect and hold the item. There is s lot of fine print and rules but it is an auction. Buyers premium, internet fee pay with credit card fee... bottom line is that as a consumer, do your homework! They do there best to present the product but it is all up to the buyer in regards to the rest. All the employees I have dealt with have been courteous and professional. If you familiarize yourself with the fees and rules, you will have an enjoyable experience. It is not like going to Target and buying something off the shelf. Michael is a scam artist and rude. I purchased a vehicle showing the dash with no engine light and advertised as "super clean". The vehicle was covered in cigarette ash and had the engine light on when I received it. Michael spoke down to me for 30 minutes before charging me 300 plus 150 for towing to take the car back. Save your time and a huge headache and stay away. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!! or it WILL cost you. I made my first and last purchase today at a Sierra Auction. I bid on line and then called to see if I would pay less in fees if I paid cash rather than with my credit card on line. The young lady on the phone had to put me on hold and go ask someone. She came back on line and told me the fee would be 13% instead of 20%. Based on the savings I decided to drive down and pay with cash. MISTAKE! When I got to the cashier window I was told my total $ which included a 13% fee. OK, that is what I expected. I handed her my money. Then all of a sudden she typed in some more info and said she had made a "mistake" and gave me a new total which included a 20% fee PLUS $10! I questioned how she could change the amount AFTER I had handed her my money and she simply said she had made a "mistake". After some discussion, and her having the person standing behind her type in some more things, she changed the total again and it included a 17% fee AND a $10 fee. When I questioned how the amounts kept changing she stayed with her "mistake" excuse. When I questioned the $10 fee she just said that is their "policy". After I insisted, she agreed to get her supervisor. NOT a nice lady. She came to the window with attitude dripping. Customer relations is NOT her forte. After a long go round with her on why the % fees kept changing and why the $10 fee she wanted me to talk to her manager. He was an OK fellow but despite the total obvious lack of knowledge and training of his staff he held company line - and in doing so lost a customer. It should be noted that the gentleman at the cashier window next to me was having a VERY similar problem. I wound up paying the 17% AND the ambiguous $10 fee. BUT NEVER AGAIN! By the way, as I worked my way through their employee and management base I was told the $10 extra fee was 1) "our policy", 2) "a fee we charge because the seller does not pay us to sell guns", 3) "the cost of doing a background check for people purchasing a gun" 4) "a fee that is used to pay employee salaries." Had I talked to another employee, I am certain I would have heard another reason for the fee. By the way, as to the background check that they required. I was purchasing an antique rifle made in 1873 that according to Federal Law does not require a background check. They would not release my antique rifle to me until I submitted to the background check. Vindictive? I would say yes. Did I say NEVER AGAIN. read more

Great selection but their fees make the guns WAY overpriced. They charge 12% on top of the price you win the bid for then you pay taxes on everything. I am not sure why people keep bidding on these guns when you can sometimes buy them new for less. The place here is huge and if you do not come to inspect a day early you can miss your chance to bid since the line to pay the $200 deposit to bid is long....then you have to collect your $200 at the end if you don't buy and I am sure that line is long also. They sell almost everything here and you can bid online also if you don't mind paying 20% fee on top of your bid price....you getting the picture yet? I think Sierra does a great job with what they are dealing with but I would save the trip. read more

I had a horrible experience with Sierra Auction. I bid on 2 black cars and when I went to pick them up one was charcoal grey and the other was navy blue. I did my bidding online through the PROXIBID the vehicles looked black from their pictures and the description stated BLACK. They didn't want to take responsibility for the poor description and blamed me for not bidding in person. The other excuse they gave me was " It's close to black", so I refused to take the vehicles and had to pay the $500.00 cash renege fee for something that was clearly there fault. They kept my cash didn't give me a receipt, so I'm sure the manager pocket my money and voided the transaction. SO BUYERS BEWARE OF THIS SHADY PLACE. They have a horrible reputation with customer service and they are a shady group. I hope my experience helps people stay away from this place. read more

The complaints I have Sierra apply to most of the local auctions, so it is hard to single them out for it: 1) Watch out for fees / buyers premium / taxes. They add up 2) Lines ... its a larger auction and things can go slowly 3) Rules ... not a lot of exceptions to be made, unlike smaller auctions. Don't expect them to treat you too special. With those out of the way, I like Sierra, and I continue to bid and buy there. They have a consistently good selection, and I believe they recently acquired a contract with phoenix police... so I've seen lots of seized goods showing up. This means some interesting and high quality items can filter through Sierra. Along that line, expect all the cellphones and such to be locked... they were probably stolen / seized / shut down. I HIGHLY recommend viewing items before hand. Staff is AWESOME about letting me check out gear / laptops / cell phones... so if gear doesn't work, I really just have myself to blame. Many times I see items going for above what I see as their value - but again most auctions are like that. Only times i've gotten burned here is when: 1) I didn't check out gear before hand ( because I couldn't get to preview ) or 2) I wasn't paying close attention to my fees as the price escalated. Staff on site is very friendly and helpful. I bid entirely online, so not sure what the on-site experience is, or how they are to work with as a "seller". read more

I bought an item from their online auction, which was very easy to navigate and I got a good price on my lot. The best part was when I went to their Grand Ave location to pick it up and pay for it. Every employee I met there was friendly and welcoming. I didn't have enough change at the cashier window and I was going to use my debit card -- the cashier told me not to worry about it and took my cash, even though I was a little short. Other employees helped me find the lot I had purchased and then carried it to my car. I would definitely do business here again! read more

I purchased a pistol from this place and when I picked it up it had a "simunition" barrel, in other words, NOT a 9mm barrel. The description was vague. I asked for a refund and the firearms manger refused. I called other mangers but none returned my call. I got a smart-ass and condescending email from the firearms manger, but that's it. I am very disappointed with this place, but the customer service is TERRIBLE. I do not recommend this place to anyone. read more
