The atmosphere is cool as it's kind of like an industrial storefront in the Dickerson road arts district. Lots of cool arts stuff outside. I was driving by and I was like, yes, this must be the gallery. I visited the group art show to check it out and it all looked great. Didn't make the opening as I'm shy, sober and socially awkward but heard it went well. I hear Reno Art Works has art classes in the space which seems pretty awesome too. The gallery changes and is currently set up with dog and cat pieces to benefit and raise awareness for the SPCA. They host various events like bands and my personal favorite a public "Stich N' B!tch". If you're looking to get a little culture or are an artist looking for a space to create, this is the place for you.

We had such an INCREDIBLE time that I assured the girl I talked to at the end that I'll be coming back year after year that they do this event. I truly hope they continue to host more fun events like this as I would love to sign up for them all. We got to dress up as well as enjoy everyone else's creative costumes. I really enjoyed getting to choose a costume for this event. The decorations around the mansion were spooky and cute. The live music set a perfect mood, as well as the yummy snacks floating around. I didn't try many as they didn't really have any vegetarian options, but my boyfriend let me know they were tasty. I did try the chocolate "bugs" at the end which were creative and yummy. The drink competition was a whole bunch of fun. That was a huge highlight of the night. Four local bars competed for a chance to win best cocktail- we all tried, voted, and celebrated. I really enjoyed that they also had a bartender there for other drinks after the samples. Surprisingly, some events fail to provide casual drinks and it keeps the evening/event flowing much more smoothly when you're not worried about being thirsty or hungry. The sparkling waters in between the wine was also very appreciated, I truly feel more comfortable with my favorite drinks of sparkling water and wine in hand (clearly). We got to do a quick craft downstairs and mod podge some tissue paper onto candle votives which was a fun activity and also let us go home with a memory of the night. It's also something that holds sentimental value but is usable, so again is appreciated. There was also a silent auction with wonderful items. I bid on many things and won a class pass for yoga. I enjoyed this because there were so many great options, and you got to see them all at once with no pressure. This night was so special, I can't say enough great things about it. We had the pleasure of attending a haunted night at the Lake Mansion, and it was such a great time!…read moreI'm a big fan of Halloween, and while my partner isn't quite as into the spooky season as I am, he was excited to dress up and join me for this event. The experience was made even more special by the fancy concoctions offered by several local drink establishments including the Emerson and a silent raffle! We loved moving around the mansion, sampling drinks, and learning bits of Reno's history. The candle votive decorating was also a fun, simple activity that we enjoyed doing together while munching on delicious snacks. Since our visit, I've been exploring other offerings by Arts for All Nevada and am excited to sign my son up for some events this winter.

Location across the street from the Tuckee River, tons of shade, parking in all directions, and not a ton of riff-raff. The inside has a few rooms for use, small restrooms and an awesome patio. Additional charges apply, see website - Alcohol permit, table, chair rentals, etc. Atmosphere - Decent size location. Decent size parking, but NOT during events. Plenty of free street parking. We were in a separate area from the main studio with another pair, but were still able to see the painting example on the TV. First drinks were included with the tickets we bought. We ordered a Margarita and a Paloma. They even let us choose what kind of rim we wanted! They were both yummy and didn't take too long to arrive. The class wasn't too bad. They had people hovering if we had questions. I thought the painting we did would match what was shown online. It was slightly different, but not a biggie. I have to emphasize "inquire" because how he treated me without thinking I would eventually purchase the painting was unintimidating, not judgmental, and even exceptionally cordial. This was all through a phone call and emails. Understand that this painting was fairly in high demand, and he could easily just treat me as a "number". But he took the time to have a conversation about the artist, the artwork, and the expectations of what I was looking for BEFORE even having anything on hand for me to consider. His email replies were always the same day or the day after. With much appreciation and excitement, he was able to pull through with what I was looking for; and I became a lucky customer of Stremmel Gallery. This museum is a hidden gem. They're constantly bringing new and exciting exhibitions to our…read morecommunity, specifically those that are geared towards our elementary aged kiddos, which I sincerely appreciate. Most recently we visited Toytopia. This exhibit offers the chance to explore a hands-on history of toys from the past and into the future. My kids loved the oversized robotic claw, reminiscent of an amped up arcade machine. It was a blast trying to get the individually articulating fingers to close around the ball in order to lift it into the basket for the big reward. We also enjoyed the oversized battleship game. So fun to play and we spent 20-30 min there. Mr Potato Head was old school fun too. We made a competition out of it to see who could make the wackiest example. I think I won... or maybe my kids let me win. But the favorite had to be the mini arcade they had setup with some of the best old school cabinets. Donkey Kong, DK Jr., Dig Dug and so many more are all here as part of the exhibit and you could spend a long time here without realizing it! Oh and there's even a Zoltar fortune teller too! When you're done at toytopia you can go learn the history of Wilbur D May on the other side of the museum. They have pulled it off this year by incorporating many of sculptures and pieces that are 10/10 Yelp and Instagram ready. What I find most amazing each year is the international flair and draw to the event. All venues and events are free or low cost to enjoy.
