I have to emphasize "inquire" because how he treated me without thinking I would eventually purchase the painting was unintimidating, not judgmental, and even exceptionally cordial. This was all through a phone call and emails. Understand that this painting was fairly in high demand, and he could easily just treat me as a "number". But he took the time to have a conversation about the artist, the artwork, and the expectations of what I was looking for BEFORE even having anything on hand for me to consider. His email replies were always the same day or the day after. With much appreciation and excitement, he was able to pull through with what I was looking for; and I became a lucky customer of Stremmel Gallery. I look forward to working with Parker again in the future!

I attended the Grand Opening recently and was amazed at the variety of subjects that this artist paints. From local city scenes to local musicians, lots of great things attract his eye. I and my local multiple award winning group, First Take featuring Rick Metz (www.RickMetz.com), as well as many of the musicians that regularly sit in with us, have been honored to be a subject of his a few times. It's always fun to wind up in a painting by a talented artist. It's a small space packed full of lots of paintings. Everything is available for sale at reasonable prices, so if you'd like something to add to your personal art collection, drop by to browse and see what catches your eye...I'm sure something will... I was surprised I hadn't heard about the Artists Co-Op before today! I learned about it from…read moreanother art group here in Reno and decided to check out the reception they were having for an exhibition entitled, "The Art of Words." When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by a kind lady who told me a bit about the co-op. I learned they have a new exhibition every month but display current members' art all the time. I had the feeling that the members have been a part of this for many years. I headed on back to the exhibition and passed through several rooms on the way there where I saw the members' artworks. When I reached the back room for the exhibition, I spent some time admiring how some artists interpreted "The Art of Words." I was mostly impressed with the pieces that were actually made out of the pages of books like dioramas. When a member and I chatted about portraits (which I enjoy painting), I was a little disappointed to learn they would never hold an exhibition of portraiture because "portraits don't sell." I'll keep an eye out for future exhibitions though, because I enjoy supporting local artists.

The museum itself is manageable in size, I got through the whole thing in a couple of hours which I actually appreciated. Not overwhelming, just right. My only gripe was that there were a lot of loud people while I was there. Conversations echoing through the rooms made it hard to really concentrate and take everything in. Wish the etiquette had been better enforced but that's more of a crowd thing than a museum thing. The gift shops though? Loved them. There's a bookstore, a library, a gift shop, and a cute little shop in the lobby and I could have spent way too much time and money in all of them. Would absolutely go back next time I'm in Reno.

My cousin had put it together on a cardboard backer and the glossy pictures were wrinkled. David said he could remove it, flatten it, and then frame it so it would look great. We picked a red mat and a gold, wood frame that looked very classy. He laid it out on his table and it looked great so I gave him the go ahead. He promised it in two weeks. He called to remind me when it was ready and I went and picked it up. It looked absolutely beautiful and the price was very reasonable for a heavy, wood frame. It's now hanging on my wall and I see mom every time I walk down the hall. I also found a lovely oil painting of the bridge over the Truckee River in downtown Reno. The one with all the flower baskets hanging on it........I know many of you have seen it. I bought that as well and am going to be buying two large pictures from him as well. He offered to come over to my new condo and hang them for me as they are very large and I couldn't do it. Thanks Dave. You're a true gentleman and did a fantastic job on mom's pictures. They have regular exhibits of works by local artists and really makes for an impressive welcome to residents and visitors who come to City Hall. It is located in the large lobby just outside of the City Council Chamber. The space is light and open and is a great venue for a wide variety of artwork. They have regular exhibitions that are on display throughout the year. The City of Reno website has information on current and past exhibits and dates and times for the Artist Receptions. The growing public art venues in Reno are one of the reasons this is a great place to live.

I've recently joined the Sierra Arts Literary Community and have attended two monthly get…read moretogethers. Thoughts on the venue: The art is well placed on the walls and is easy to see and well illuminated. The information about each piece is also on display next to each piece, making it easy for anyone who wants to view/purchase. There is a bookshelf near the south side of the gallery with local authors who are part of SALC. (There is a yearly membership fee, however the meetings I've attended do not require you to be a member). The gallery itself was clean and well maintained. Lynne has always been eager to help and answer questions thoroughly. I look forward to attending future meetings and being an active member of the SALC community.
