Thoughts on the venue: The art is well placed on the walls and is easy to see and well illuminated. The information about each piece is also on display next to each piece, making it easy for anyone who wants to view/purchase. There is a bookshelf near the south side of the gallery with local authors who are part of SALC. (There is a yearly membership fee, however the meetings I've attended do not require you to be a member). The gallery itself was clean and well maintained. Lynne has always been eager to help and answer questions thoroughly. I look forward to attending future meetings and being an active member of the SALC community.

We were in a separate area from the main studio with another pair, but were still able to see the painting example on the TV. First drinks were included with the tickets we bought. We ordered a Margarita and a Paloma. They even let us choose what kind of rim we wanted! They were both yummy and didn't take too long to arrive. The class wasn't too bad. They had people hovering if we had questions. I thought the painting we did would match what was shown online. It was slightly different, but not a biggie. They did provide drinks and snacks but I highly suggest you grab what you want before you begin because once you do your hands will be so muddy with clay there is no way you can touch anything. The instructors gave a quick tutorial for those of us who've never even seen a pottery wheel and then they cut you loose. They stay present walking around answering questions and helping with technique the entire time. They said it takes about 3-4 weeks for our pieces to be ready for pick up. I'm curious to see how they turn out. It was a unique experience, something fun and interactive to go try:)

I took my daughter to Beauty and the Beast Jr at Demonte Ranch High school this weekend and I was…read moreblown away! The performance was as absolutely amazing!! Bell's singing was so beautiful and Geston was hilariously full of himself (how he should be)! All of the performers were so good (and I know a few were High School or younger which is very impressive). Vocals on point, costumes/props perfection, choreography awesome, and we had the best time. I can't imagine how much time it takes to put something like this together... the talent! I'm exited to see what other plays they will be doing down the road. My daughter was dancing around the house when we got home pretending to be one of the performers. (The best compliment is imitation right?!) Well done!!

Recently attended the August 2019 performance of Guys and Dolls performed by the school at Hawkins…read moreAmphitheater in BartleyRanch. The group did an incredible job in their presentation of this 1950's Broadway hit. Gamblers, gangsters, show girls and missionaries all collide in this comedic musical. The entire ensemble seemed perfectly casted. The over 100 costumes propelled you swiftly back to the mobster era of the late 20's. All the voices were strong and on mark. The dance scenes were full of energy. I enjoyed the simple set they created. It allowed for quick scene turnarounds. Performances at the Hawkins Amphitheater are wonderful. Set up on the natural hillside inside Bartley Ranch, you can enjoy outdoor shows in the Nevada evenings. Seating was good, easy line of vision to the stage, as we sat rows 4 and 5 with seats 1,2, & 3. Sound was great through the entire show. Seating was reserved pre sales. I do recommend bringing a cushion. The spacious metal seats can get a hard by the second act. Plenty of on property parking. Bring a flashlight to get back to your car. There are no lot lights. Why don't more residents enjoy our local theater groups. They are so affordable and simply do a fantastic job.

Slime Kitchen is a cool one and done experience for most, but maybe a staple activity for some…read more.. We visited the Slime Kitchen Reno with our two boys on a weekday. It wasn't busy and the two young girls working greeted us quickly and got us started on some slime making. The experience itself is really cool. It lasts quite awhile and there are tons of steps from texture to aroma to colors. Every step involves some level of decision making so if you have a really little one, like I do, it's definitely best to accompany them through the whole thing. A grade school aged kid could mostly do everything on their own. After choosing some texture, color, smells, and mixing, you can play with your slime for as long as you'd like. Then you can do your mix ins and package it up. The cost is the toughest thing to stomach about this place. It's $25 to make a slime, so for my two kids and taxes, it was nearly $60 to make something that will likely eventually have to be thrown away. The prices on the retail slimes that you could buy and make at home seemed much more reasonable- around $15. I loved this for my kids- but just this once. I think it would have to be a special occasion to come back and do it again. I could see myself picking up a retail slime for a gift. If you don't mind the $25 price tag, this could be a staple experience for you! Still 5 stars in my book.
