Been wanting to go back here again and happened to be in the neighborhood so I stopped by and ordered up the Spicy Italian. Everything in the sandwich was pretty standard fair. However, the bread seemed stale and overly dry and hard. Bread is the one thing that really needs to hold up and if it doesn't, well the sandwich can't make the grade. I'd even venture to guess the sandwich maker knew this bread wasn't up to their standard. read more

Ok why is everything closed on Sundays in Gilbert!?!?!! I was looking for sandwiches and finally found this was the only place open!! Whatever, I'm hungry, I don't care. The menu was huge, too many options. Nothing really stood out and sounded amazing. Staff was friendly and patient. Place was clean and fun. Good beer options, but didn't order any. SURVEY: when you see "steak sandwich" what do you think that means? ... I assumed, a thick cut steak... which sounded amazing. It was actually thin cut, shaved like a philly... I was disappointed. But could of been my fault. Flavor was ok, but lacking. But the kicker, bbq, ranch, chicken, jalapeños ... it was amazing. Great combination, wouldn't of thought of putting that all together. Macaroni salad. Honestly, I'm still not sure how I feel about this. Flavor was really good, even had cheese in it, but noodles were long, flat like kraft Mac n cheese... it was weird. Idk why but it bothered me. I think if they used normal elbow pasta it could be the best I've ever had... but pasta shape matters!! I'd come back if I was in the area, probably wouldn't go out of my way just to go here though. read more

This place is pretty good, their subs remind me of Eegee's but better quality and made with more care. We got an Italian sub and a Turkey, and the toppings were fresh, the bread was soft, and the meat was sliced super thin and piled on, really nice. read more

Went for lunch today and this place is BUSY.... which is great for them. Being my first time in I was a bit overwhelmed as I thought I could choose more of my own toppings. I had the veggie sub & got my husband the Italian sub to go. He said it was very good but this is just way to fast paced for me and I didn't get the toppings I wanted as every sub already has them choose so, you choose what you don't want. Hands down the best sub place I've tried. Wide variety of subs and has a very nice deli feel. The staff is also friendly and efficient. My only thing is I am big on comfy seating. I don't like the hard chairs and lack of booths but I'll for sure be back. read more

Amazing gem of an eatery! I had found this place and yelp and there was a 15% off coupon for checking in. I got the seafood sub and my friend had the bbq sub. Mine was delicious! Perfect amount of veggies, sauce, and meat! Can we just take a second to talk about those cookies?! I thought Subways cookies were the ultimate. Today I was proven wrong. These cookies are loaded with thick chocolate chunks and they're heavy! Pretty sure I almost broke the table putting my cookie on it. Overall this place has a fun and busy vibe. Pretty crowded at lunch time, but it cleared out fast. It is a little more on the pricey side. For two subs, two drinks, and a cookie I ended up paying $21. That was with 15% off. Love this sub shop still and visit often. It's still consistently busy producing quality sandwiches with quality ingredients. We have tried so many subs it's hard to pick a favorite. The only bad part is the limited hours of operation so make sure you check hours for the day if you are driving a far distance. Side note: This local family owned business in Gilbert gives back to the community in many ways. I would like to say thank you to them for supporting and feeding our teen athletes at Mesquite High School! We will continue to support you as well :-) read more

Best sub shop in Gilbert and within 20 miles. Not only are they tasty but not scared to put a generous amount of meat on. Prices are fair across the board but you just get a sandwich made with love. I go two times a week and have never been disappointed. GIVE THEM A TRY!!! read more

This was our first time here and boy have we been missing out. You start out with counter service. The line was long even at 1:30 pm but it moved very fast. The food listed is on a chalk board above but there is drinks and chips off to the side that you can get. It seems that the chalk board Menu is smaller then what I saw on line, but there was still plenty of choices. I got the Roast Beef and Turkey and Doug got the Bomb. After we ordered we found a seat which is lucky because this place was full. We only sat for about 10 minutes before our name was called. My sandwich was huge and stuffed. I could only eat half. It was perfect made to order. Doug's Bomb, he said was really good and of course he finished his Sandwich. The bread is delicious, and the meat was plenty. They don't rip you off and give you 2 slices. What I also forgot to mention you can get your sandwich on white or wheat and different sizes too. The only thing I had trouble with is most of the tables are high tops and for me at 5'2" I had a hard time getting on and getting off. Would We go back. Without a doubt.!!!!!!!! The service was really great. I even forgot to add olives to my sons order and when asking the cashier I believe it may have been the owner making the sandwiches replied back don't worry we got it buddy. We are always thrilled to discover another delicious sandwich option in the east valley. Sidewinder Subs did not disappoint and left us wanting to come back for more. The bbq sauce on the Kicker was sweet and tangy. The chicken on The Bomb was thick and we were told that it is baked and cut fresh in house everyday. The bread was thick, fresh and extremely soft, yet stayed together perfectly throughout the entire meal. Both sandwiches were the perfect amount of saucy. The house potato salad and mac salad looked delicious so we'll definitely try that next time. The interior was very clean and there are plenty of tv's for game watching. I was not a fan of Fox News on one of the tv's because it made me lose my appetite a little. I think they should just stick to sports on the TV's. They offer craft beer on tap and have $2 drafts on Fridays. read more

Just tried for the first time, so yummy!! I had the T.W.A which is a deluxe turkey sandwich with bacon, garlic aioli, l,t,o, cheese. It was warm and toasted and the bread is fresh. I loved how all of the ingredients were thin sliced and fresh as well. Ordered a cookie and they are LIFE yall. I love supporting a good local business and this sub shop is delicious!! The owner was even hard at work behind the counter. The only downside was the tea was very watery, so I got a soda instead. Not a big deal. Will be back!! read more

What first drew my eye was the sign that said $3.89 8" Italian Sub... first of all, there is no where in Arizona where you can get a sub that cheap let alone be a 8" sub... so I definitely went in to check it out ...not to mention you get 15% off your complete order for checking in with yelp ...which I only realized when doing this review ... but let's get started on the rating points Atmosphere..... very down to earth get together for quick lunch with friends type vibe ... high bar height tables and over all met the type of restaurant style it that the food complimented Staff.... the staff were friendly and seemed knowledgeable of their menu and food service ... however it seemed to take a while for the food To come up Food... when I went in I did notice the cookie display had a lot of broken crumbled up cookies in it The sand which was very good however it could stand to have had more meat on it ... as you can see from the pic attached ... "where's the beef?" Over all I would say it's a great place to go on a budget .. but keep in mind you get what you pay for ! read more

The subs are so freaking good here! Some of the most freshiest fresh bread you will ever wrap your lips around. I like to jump around the menu and try a little of it all and nothing disappoints. The spicy italian is probably my fav and you have to try Zipps Voodoo chips. Mmmmmm mmmmm. The only reason I rate them four stars is they keep awful hours. I mean, I love this place it's my favorite sun shop. But they hired this new girl and she can't make a sandwich at all. Everytime I get one it's different, I stopped getting the TWA b/c she made those wrong and never toasted them. Now she makes the spicy Italians wrong. Nice place to get a Sub. Their hot Pastrami subs are really good. I just wish they would stay open a little later. Seems like half the time I try to stop in their closed. You can sometimes find a really good deal on Groupon for 2 pints of beer and two subs which is a killer deal. read more

This place is great! I wish they were open on Sundays during Football Season! It can take a little bit to get your sandwich on a weekday during lunch hour, but it's worth it. I usually order ahead for pickup because there is no true waiting area. read more

I was super stoked to check a place with "retro" in the name out, and I gotta be honest here, I left with pretty mixed emotions about a lot of things. The restaurant itself is pretty boring inside, mostly just being black with a few small pictures hanging up. I was kind of expecting big retro movie posters or something hanging around, but I definitely didn't get much of a retro vibe from this place minus a small neon "bar" sign and a claw machine in the corner. The menus were very cool, right by the front door its a record shelf and the records were the menus, so thumbs up for that idea. I thought i was mistaken, but I don't remember seeing sandwich prices on the actual menu, but as I look at other photos on yelp it does appear that the sandwiches don't have prices attached to them, which explains why I was thrown off by the end price. I settled on ordering the "take on me" which was black forest ham, roasted turkey, hickory smoked bacon, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and mayo on a Hawaiian style roll. I also ordered a sprite and a chocolate chip cookie as a side. The chocolate chip cookie was okay, pretty standard cookie though definitely not worth $3.75. The sprite was $2.99, and the sandwich came to $15.58. I was also charged $0.96 for something called the advantage program which I have no idea what that is. I gotta say, spending over $25 on a sandwich, a small cookie, and a drink is not something I would care to do at a place like this. The sandwich itself was very good, I won't deny that. The meat tasted fresh, and when it was all together it was definitely a good sandwich, but when there's not combo option and a basic sandwich, cookie, and drink ends up being $25 it's gonna be a no from me on returning in the future. Overall, I really wanted to love this place for the name, but the lack of much decorations and prices left something to be desired. The food itself was good, but not worth what was spent.

It's not often that I witness Cubanos on the menu and so that was my order served with French fries, extra crispy, please. My Cubano was near perfect let down only by sweet versus dill pickles. That's simply my personal preference and did not get in the way of my sucking down the whole sandwich and most of the fries. When I walked in, there was one employee working the register. I waited patiently while he helped another customer, but when I tried to get his attention afterward, he raised his finger at me in a dismissive way and told me to wait. Instead of helping me with what should have been a quick mobile pickup, he proceeded to take multiple new walk-in orders from a group that had just come up to the counter, without acknowledging me at all. After waiting even longer, I finally asked if I could just be helped. I was told "they were here first," even after I explained I had a mobile order that should have already been ready. At that point, the interaction escalated out of frustration. Once I gave my name, my order was handed to me quickly, which only reinforced that this could have been resolved in seconds with basic awareness and customer service. To make matters worse, when we got home, the sandwiches were made with barely any sauce--even though we paid extra for it. The lack of sauce made the meal dry and disappointing, to the point where we didn't really enjoy dinner. To be fair, the ingredients themselves did seem fresh, and there is potential here from a food quality standpoint. However, that doesn't outweigh the overall experience. Between the poor handling of a simple mobile pickup and the failure to execute the order correctly, this visit fell well below expectations. This felt less like a one-off mistake and more like a breakdown in both service and attention to detail. I would strongly recommend improvements in how mobile orders are prioritized and how customers are acknowledged when they walk in.

The club royal had paper on the cheese. I mean really paper in the sandwich see pic. This is more than careless preparation. The NY Yankee is a 20.00 Sandwich and they made it on marble rye that was stale and hard. It was impossible for them to not know that the bread was stale and hard. The order was at 10:15 AM so it was not a situation where it sat out long enough in the day to get hard. This had to be yesterdays stale bread. I have to ask who does this? Do they think the customer is going to find this acceptable? Paper on the cheese and stale bread on a 20.00 sandwich. There is genuinely no excuse for this and who ever prepared this food needs to be either reprimanded or terminated. You have one job and that is to make a quality product. If things like this are happening it makes me wonder what other corners are cut and if there is actually any manager overseeing quality and safe practices!
