Ate here this evening. It might have been the worst dining experience that I've had in quite awhile. 1. Never received our salads. 2. My fiance got the wrong dish. She ordered a Cajun Chicken, but received an Italian Seasoned Chicken. 3. My water was filled once, fiance didn't receive the water she ordered. 4. I got a side of pasta with my fish. The red sauce tasted awful. 5. Their lobster mac and cheese is not mac and cheese. It is pasta with some lobster in some strange sauce with melted cheese on top. 6. We ordered a peanut butter desert. The waitress never mentioned anything about it being garnished with nuts. When we asked what kind of nuts they were she did not know. She said she didn't think it was a big deal since we ordered a peanut butter dish. News flash, peanuts are legumes. Some people can eat legumes, but not eat tree nuts. It seemed like everyone else in our group enjoyed their meals, but for $150+, I don't think this place was worth it at all. read more

Last week I went to dinner with my friend to Sidel's. We had a 5 pm reservation and she got there first at 5pm. She asked if we could have a different table as she did not like where ours was. A young waitress said sure and led my friend to another table. An older waitress who I will call Mary here, but I think her real name starts with a C or K, got angry with the young girl and told her the table was taken. Again the girl said it was not and again Mary said it was. The girl showed Mary a table list and it was not. My friend sat down. I arrived at 5:05 pm. After a few minutes, Mary came over for our order. I asked for more time. Very soon after the bartender came over for our drink order which we gave him and he returned with the drinks quickly. He had a great personality and smile to match. At 5:15 Mary came back and I asked for a few more minutes. She glared at me and rolled her eyes. I asked if there was a time limit on the table and after checking with the owner said the next seating was at 7pm. At 5:45pm she had not come back to take our order. She had been sitting at a table near us. I walked over and asked if she could take our order. She looked at me with a sneery smile and said "oh I think you're over your time limit now" I asked her if she was being passive aggressive. Suddenly the owner appeared and in a voice that shook the walls yelled "Get out of my restaurant now! You've been rude to my waitress and bartender. Get out or I'll call the cops" I asked if I could talk to him about this. He repeated again in a booming voice "Get out or I'll call the cops ". We left. My friend felt Mary didn't like her the minute she walked in. We are both retired nurses and at age 67 have never ever had an experience like this. As we left the owner yelled "go ahead and put a bad review on Yelp, I don't care" So Ritchie here it is. We are still shaken by this shoddy treatment. We have told many people our story. It's apparent Mary has issues with tolerance and anger. Maybe choosing to ignore this will result in decline of business. Ritchie gave us not 1 second of his time to talk to us in a respectful manner and listen to our side of the story. Maybe he depends on established clientele. But as time goes on I would think all businesses would welcome new customers as the old ones won't be there forever. The one star is for the absolutely wonderful bartender!!! read more

We just ate here last night for the first time. My in-laws go here all the time so we thought we'd give it a shot. Outside is kind of blah but the inside is a nice, cozy restaurant. Quiet, relaxed kind of vibe. Our dinners were really good. Big portions. We had so much left over we ended up getting a second meal out of it the next day. Overall a good dinner experience except that our waitress couldn't seem less interested in waiting on us(the other waitresses seemed to be very attentive to their customers. Just our luck. We always get stuck with the shitty waitress). Not necessarily a kid friendly restaurant either but that's ok, that's not really what they're going for. Wouldve given 4 stars if not for our waitress but we will go back again(we'll make sure we get a different waitress. Then maybe I'll give them the 4th star). read more

This place has become our "go to" place for Ryon family dinners when relatives are in town to visit. The service is always amazing. You get alot of food for a reasonable price. The seafood au gratin is tremendous. Because I didn't order an appetizer, I had room for desser- the Coconut cream pie was light and not over filling - very good ending to our dinner. read more

Food is fantastic. I recommend the veal chop, when available, with garlic butter sauce. Great quality ingredients in everything. I've had pasta dishes, other steaks, and seafood here. We eat at Sidel's often. The food is consistantly delicious. Rich makes his specials very interesting so you have a new offering all the time. We bring our out of town company there all the time. Great food! I had the Cajun Salmon, bake potato & a salad. It was so good. We were with friends who had the Eggplant & Chicken Parmigiana; shrimp in puff pastry & Salmon with glazed pears. I cannot speak highly enough about Sidels. Their food is so delicious. You honestly can't go wrong with anything on their menu. It's my favorite Italian restaurant in the area. Cozy, friendly staff and absolutely delicious food. I visit family and work in Scranton. Every time I have the opportunity I eat at Sidel's. I live outside of Boston and this is one of the few restaurants that I will order seafood. Last time it was swordfish. I am very picky about the way it needs to be cooked and it was perfect. The owner/chief is a professional and keeps the needs of his customers in mind. I'll start with the good but unfortunately it doesn't outweigh the bad: The good : calamari appetizer was tasty. My rack of lamb and side order of angel hair pasta with alfredo sauce was tasty and a decent size The bad: service was AWFUL, RUDE, SLOW and INSULTING. I'll try to keep this brief. My wife order the penne a la vodka - the waitress said just so you know ours has meat in the sauce. My wife said oh ok no problem. Her meal came out. It was a dark sauce. Not a pink cream sauce as expected. Just did not resemble penne ala vodka at all - we wouldn't have minded meat if It was a vodka sauce. When my wife said to the waitress you know it doesn't taste bad but this isn't really at all like Penn a la vodka. The waitress immediately got defensive and said " well where do you usually eat penne ala vodka?! We make ours the authentic way!" My wife ordered something else and the waitress quickly took her meal and as she was walking away said " I'll wrap this for you" we sat 3 different times with empty drinks with out being asked if we wanted refills. We finished our meals while my wife waited for her replacement ( my moms chicken was dry and bland but not terrible). We asked for the bill and for my wife's replacement meal just to be wrapped to go. 20 mins later the bill came out with both of the meals on the bill we explained that we were not happy with the meal and didn't expect to pay for both ( no manager had come to apologize about this and the waitress never said I'm sorry you were unhappy with the meal) so then the waitress says " there was nothing wrong with the meal and I ASKED YOU if you wanted it wrapped " wrong she never asked. My mom and I ordered our sides of pasta with Alfredo and one wth meat sauce - they charged $4.95 each - that's a steep "up charge " ( $1.50 added for blue cheese for the salad my meal came with! ) Then the waitress says we make our foods fresh not like at chains you might eat at. ( I'm 100% Italian and raised on Long Island. Please don't try to tell me what Italian food is). Then " you know I might be charged out of my check for this and I work hard". We were always polite and said we weren't trying to make her pay for the meal. To try to cut this long story a little shorter. She basically left to look into the check more and never came back. Sent another waitress to talk to us Twice who basically said " I don't know what she did to the bill but she told me to give it to you". We were there for over 2 hours. We're very disappointed and insulted. We were very excited to try this place as it was our first time. Unfortunately We will never be back. read more

My husband and I stopped in for the first time... Great warm atmosphere and delicious food.. The service was very very good as well. The owner/chef was very accomodating. I'm a vegetarian and it's hard to find that in most restaurants unless you are simply into eggplant parm or pasta.. so he made me a wonderful dinner. I was visiting a relative in the hospital in Scranton and three of use went to Sidel's Restaurant on Oct. 21, 2011 for dinner after searching various web sites for reviews and Sidel's had good reviews. We were not disappointed in our choice. Two of us had the veal cutlet special rolled with crab meat with a wonderful garlic sauce while the other had a stuffed shrimp dish. Everyone was very pleased with their choices and our server, Judy gave us excellent service and she was very personable. After our meal, the chef came out to get our opinion on his cooking and we all gave him high reviews. Prices are reasonable and the quality of the food is very good with very creative dishes. Parking is avaivable behind the restaurant. Don't judge this restaurant from the outside as the inside is very nicely decorated with two dining rooms. I also enjoyed the mild recorded music with our meal. read more

The restaurant is in the bottom of a renovated house. The room is nice without being too formal. The service was excellent and the food very good. They had a nicely varied menus with some very imaginative and delicious sounding dishes, especially the daily specials. Some sounded so good, I was tempted to try them and I don't eat seafood. We have been there once before and I would have given it a higher rating that night. Tonight we had reservations for 6:15 and we got our meal at 7:40. We had to ask twice for bread, and my tuna was supposed to be medium rare and it was very well done.
