Bathrooms were clean. The food was subpar. Ahi slider was fishy and underwhelming. Fried chicken slider tasted like a frozen patty slapped on a bun with a pickle. Thank God for the garlic hot sauce. Tots were room temp but crispy. Server disappeared on us after food was dropped at our table, never checked in and never offered refills. Stood up at our table for over 5 mins to locate our server. I've been back a couple times and I must say--everything has been substantially better since my first visit. No more are the complaints on soggy pierogis, brussel sprouts that taste like marijuana, or undrinkable drinks. All of these initial downfalls have been remedied since I've returned. The balsamic was a glaze or reduction barely drizzled on the top while the rest of the sprouts were not flavored or seasoned with anything. Food was average. Server was nice but you can tell that the place is not managed well. Very few tables were full (7 tables) and the one next to us walked out after 2 hours. I've enjoyed the space and how SideCar was built out. Having a spot in the Grosse Pointes that serves food late is something this area desperately needed. After having gone many times, the service has had ups and downs which was likely due to a learning curve. Even when things are hectic, the staff is always very pleasant and helpful. My family has tried the sliders, chicken, pizza (full pizza and slices) and a number of sides and have been happy with them all. The only issue is that some days the music is exceptionally loud. After three attempts to eat here, not likely going to try a fourth time. The first time we put our name in and were quoted a 20 minute wait, I walked around shopping with my 3 year old while my husband and 1 year old waited, after about 30 minutes with no call/text, we walked back asking for an update and we told 10 more minutes, after 15 minutes I walked up again and was told our name wasn't on the list, then that they tried calling or texting with no answer - which also never happened, and was told it'd be 20 more minutes until we could get a table at which point we left and went to Whisey 6. Second attempt just too long of a wait, and last night was our third attempt at 5pm we were quoted a 4 hour wait with 1 table ahead of us (we were a party of 8) - it's clear the staff doesn't understand how to seat/plan for larger parties. Yesterday we went to Shift next door and it was amazing, from the food, drinks, service and kind/attentive staff I'll be going back to Shift instead of Sidecar, even with kids in tow! read more

I'm only giving them five stars because the app won't let me give them six. This restaurant was excellent. Lowbrow food at the highest quality (what a winning combo!), and well crafted cocktails. The ambiance was comfortable and pleasing, and the service left nothing to be desired. We don't make our way out to Grosse Pointe more than a few times a year, but we may need to plan more visits because of this community staple. Keep up the excellent work. read more

Some of the worst bar service in Grosse Pointe. A bar with three people took 10 minutes to even notice me, and another 5 minutes to clear the glassware that was left from the previous customers, it took this long because the barbacks where stuck watching the game. My drink was made in a good amount of time but I didn't even dare stay for a second. Not to mention someone needs to teach their barback that they had on service rail on January 8th, how to pour a beer. I havent felt so embarrassed for someone in a long time, not knowing how to pour a beer as a barback is truly one of the most embarrassing things in the service industry. So all in all lazy bar workers with no hustle and little to no skill. The floor staff is probably a different story seeing that I didn't deal with any. The host however was very nice and welcoming, literally the only good part about my visit. read more

On a recent Saturday night, a friend and I went to Sidecar Slider Bar to watch a Lions' playoff game and have some food. We arrived at about 8 p.m. and grabbed two seats at the bar. The place was about half full, lively, but not overly crowded. We sat at the bar for about 5-10 minutes and the bartender walked over, said nothing and stared at us. We asked for menus; he left and brought menus and left again. It was another 10 minutes at least before he returned and stared at us again. We assumed he was ready to take our drink order and ordered a couple drinks. About five minutes later, we got the drinks. We waited about a half hour before a female bartender took our food order. Almost 30 minutes after arriving. My buddy got sliders, which he said were decent but nothing special and just ordered prezel bites, which were okay. Overall, this place seems okay for bar food and watching games or hanging out. The service left a lot to be desired and was unfriendly to say the least. Bartenders had no personality and were even a little dismissive from the start, and they were not overly busy. We had to beg to get plates removed from in front of us and to get our drinks refilled. Restaurant staff really should be a little more people-oriented. read more

Greasssyyyy. I got takeout for our group of 5 and sadly no one liked what they ordered. Heavy and greasy food overall. We tried several different sliders, Brussels sprouts, fries, and the fried pickles. Sad to say no one wanted to keep the leftovers. Placed a carry-out order at 7:40pm through Google/Otter, estimated pick up time from Google was 8:06pm. At 8:06 we had yet to receive a confirmation email from the restaurant. I decided to call and inquire about the order once we got in the car and were on our way to Sidecar. On the phone, the host checked on our order and informed me that the order had not been "pushed through" but had been received and it would be ready when we got there. Upon arrival, I let the host know the name for our order and she went to the back to check. I was informed that it would be a few minutes. So I waited... While I was waiting, I observed 2 separate tables walk up to the host stand and request their bills because they had yet to be served by their waiter. We all made eye contact in a "yeah I'm here with ya buddy" sort of way and I knew I was not alone in being disappointed in their service. Fast forward to 8:40pm when I finally received our food, we ordered the caesar salad, garlic parm fries, pulled pork sliders, and 6pc chicken tenders. About 2 minutes into our car ride back home we realized the chicken tenders were missing. We turned around and I entered once again. I let the host know we were missing the tenders to which she replied "We're all out of tenders. I figured online would have shown you that". It didn't, and we were charged for the full order. I promptly requested to speak to a manager. After explaining all of the above to him, he offered to make me something else, I refused as I was not about to wait another hour. I asked for a refund and was told that I'd have to contact Google since that's who we placed the order through. The lack of customer service from the host was one thing, the manager's lack of resolution skills is entirely different. I am frustrated, disappointed, and in awe at the way my first and last experience at SideCar went. We will not be returning. read more

I went Saturday February 17 at 5pm to have a special date with my grandson. I told the hostess and waiter this and everyone treated us great, very excited! I was given menus and we made our choices quickly since my 6 year old grandson was hungry. He wanted chicken tenders and Mac & cheese. I ordered 2 sliders and the waffle fry appetizer. The place was busy but we were seated immediately and I never anticipated a problem. The waiter brought us water and we waited patiently for the appetizer and our food. My grandson drank all his water, the waiter brought us a new glass of water. At this time I asked about the food. He said he would check. He came back a while later and said he would be out soon. He was nice, came back again and was surprised we were not served. At this time I said my grandson is hungry. Can you bring him something, a cracker or bread? I gave up on appetizer. He left and never returned. I saw more food come out and at 6:30 we put our coats on, never saw the waiter again, informed the hostess we were leaving. She was shocked we had no food. My grandson was crying and I informed her I would write the review, and I was furious. My special time with my grandson was an absolute disaster. An hour and a half with only water at dinner time?? I am not sure how the food taste I never got to try it. My husband and I sat there for 20 minutes without any acknowledgment whatsoever! The manager was standing in the back looking at us but when we told him we had not gotten any service he acted like he didn't know what table we were sitting at. I've been here at least 15 times since they opened and this is the first negative experience I've had. I live 2 blocks away and really want them to succeed in Grosse Pointe. After order was placed our waitress needed to be flagged down in order to get another beer and cocktail. She never checked in with us after our order was placed. Every time I looked for her she was chatting with another employee, either at the front desk or in the rear of the restaurant. Food took much longer to receive than in the past, not her fault, at least 45 minutes from placement of order. Food arrived and was hot. It simply was overall a negative experience. Very disappointed. Ordered pulled pork sliders and tater tots to go. The sliders were very dry. I asked the to employee how many their large tater tot order served she said 2 so I got 2 orders. It was way too much. The price to quality ration was not good. When ordering to go the pay interface comes up with 3 tip options 15 20 and 25 percent. There is a custom option but not sure if they allow no tip. Tipping should be for waiter service. To go orders are a much more straight forward process so I don't care for this sort of in your face give a tip scenario. read more
