A 10 out of 10, every time. I can't get enough of Sidecar. The donuts are divine, and worth every penny. I've enjoyed them on the spot or else the next day - keep them in the fridge to ensure freshness. Also, I so appreciate the samples! There's usually a few options left out for nibbling. The one negative is that they close at 7pm, and my craving always hits hardest around 7:15pm. Sigh!! Sidecar is in a popular plaza near BOA, Sushi Roku, a smash burger, and Bank of America. Plenty of free parking available all around.
I visited Sidecar Donuts & Coffee in Manhattan Beach and the location felt clean, bright, and aesthetically pleasing. It's situated on a corner in a shopping area that made it easy to spot. I really appreciated the variety of donuts they offered. From classic glaze, fruit-forward flavors and themed varieties (Somoa is inspired by a Girl Scout cookie), the selection was impressive. I also liked that they offered weekly vegan and gluten-free options; very inclusive. You could tell the donuts were being made fresh, as trays were quickly restocked whenever an option started running low. We ordered a half dozen, including the glazed, French toast, huckleberry, strawberry, and classic glazed. The standout for me was the huckleberry and strawberry; both were 10/10. The server also was very helpful tailoring our picks to our needs. The flavors were vibrant without being overpowering sweet. I also ordered a green tea and their featured banana bread latte. I appreciated that they asked about toppings and clearly stated the presence of walnuts, which is important for anyone with allergies. The latte itself was decent (about a 7/10 for me); I was expecting a slightly sweeter, more pronounced banana flavor, but it was still enjoyable. Overall, a solid spot if you're in the Manhattan Beach area and looking for fresh, creative coffee spot with a sweet treat!
This fancy Manhattan Beach donut shop never disappoints. They consistently deliver both in quality and service and everything always tastes fresh and thoughtfully made. You can tell they care about what they're putting out. Their pints program is also a great bonus and definitely worth trying. Solid flavors, great consistency, and an easy go-to when you're craving something sweet. Highly recommend.
Stopped by this location for the first time and was impressed! This donut shop claims to have the world's freshest donuts and they meant just that! This shop is known to have fresh ingredients, unique flavors...with some flavors offered weekly or just once a week. I ordered their coconut cloud donut which was a collab they conducted with Summer Fridays and I also ordered the French toast donut. These donuts were super soft and on the more dense side than airy. The staff were super friendly and helpful, the space doesn't have indoor seating but there are a few tables located outside, but it's limited so it's best to order to go. Plenty of free parking as well. I'll definitely return to try other flavors, and the Vietnamese coffee!
The Baseline: For a donut shop the flavor of donuts must out-weigh the taste of pure sugar, the yeastiness/cake-ness of the donut must be a good consistency, there must be unique/rare offerings that drive me to go there, and the value of the desert must be balanced with the fact I probably just finished a meal. Food: Sidecar donuts are really sweet delicious donuts that are mostly cake donuts. The flavor profiles are varied and they carry a limited vegan selection. When the cookie dough donuts is available it is my favorite. I also love the Black Onyx Coffee for my go-to coffee. Also you need to try the Eggs Benedict donut for a savory treat. Service: Great service from staff every time I come here. I suggest the app for earning freebies and specials. Ambiance: Very clean store with a well laid out service queue.
Is there anything better than a cake, I mean donut from Sidecar on a lazy Sunday morning? Definitely not! Came here around 10:30am and was glad to see there wasn't a tremendously long line. The worker that helped me was so kind and patient and helped me with my matcha latte order. I was glad to hear they don't charge extra for oat milk! But, they do charge an extra $1 if you add special sweetener in there (tried something new today with their banana syrup flavoring). Definitely don't need my matcha sweetened next time though because the sweetness from my Biscoff donut did the trick! Yes Biscoff donut - basically cake. It was perfectly crunch at the top and so soft and moist all around! Wow. The location is small but just enough for a line inside and some seats outside as well. They also have a window where you can pick up your drinks outside so that it doesn't get too crowded. The store was clean, the counter with some utensils and napkins was well kept, and it smelled delicious in there (of course!) This is by far my most favorite donut shop and this location did not disappoint. The staff was friendly, kind, and they got my order to me very quickly! Will definitely be back! Oh and parking was not a problem one bit. It's in a shopping center so lots of parking all around. Win in my book! Woohoo!
I had a friend introduce me to Sidecar Doughnuts last summer, so when I saw we were going to be near one, I had to make a point to stop here so my kids could try it! We were in town for the weekend and after a late night out, followed by an early morning call time, Sidecar to the rescue! I got here right before they opened. I was greeted immediately upon entering by Jesse who ended up helping me throughout my visit. He was super personable and we chatted a bit while he completed my order. I bought a box of 6 donuts and got: Cookies n cream, Huckleberry, Choco Lot, Chocolate chunk cookie, Strawberry buttermilk and Saigon cinnamon crumb. To complete my order, I also ordered a hot banana bread latte with the walnut topping. The strawberry buttermilk reminded me of a mild jelly filled doughnut and the cinnamon crumb complimented my latte perfectly. The latte itself was insanely delicious. I didn't try the doughnuts purchased for my kids, but they demolished theirs, so I think it's safe to say they loved their choices as well. It's a very nice location, small inside but laid out perfectly so it flows well. I'd imagine it probably gets a little chaotic when they're extremely busy. The parking lot was laid out kind of odd, so I was glad it was early and there were only 3 other cars there, no added confusion then. Their menu changes daily and they have seasonal offerings as well. Highly recommend giving Sidecar a try! Love this place!
First timer at Sidecar and I'm impressed. Now, not all of the doughnuts I tried were amazing, but I love that they were all so fresh and not too sweet. MATCHA, STRAWBERRIES, & CREME (limited time): Matcha whipped cream and chopped strawberries were piled on top of this raised doughnut but unfortunately, matcha flavor was lacking big time. The doughnut was tinted green, but no matcha taste. So basically it was a glazed green donut with a hint of matcha from the dusting on the whipped cream and some glazed strawberry pieces. Darn. SAIGON CINNAMON CRUMB: I figured how different could this doughnut be from a regular cinnamon cake doughnut elsewhere and I was glad to be wrong. The cinnamon was surprisingly much more potent and fragrant than I've had in a doughnut so it was very pleasant. I'm not a big fan of cake doughnuts, but this was soft and palatable. CHOC-A-LOT: Holy smokes this delivered on the chocolate. It's a raised chocolate doughnut with a chocolate glaze. I'm not sure if they used semi-sweet chocolate but it was not cloyingly sweet, which was great. CITRUS OLIVE OIL: Lemony cake doughnut so it was a nice change from the other ones I ordered. A good choice for those who love lemon! MATCHA LATTE: I got a sweetened matcha latte with regular milk and it was fine. I don't think it compares to matcha teahouses, but it'll do. They have savory doughnuts too, but I didn't get a chance to try those. They continue to make doughnuts throughout the day so just inquire with the staff if you want to know when the next batch of a certain type will come out. Hands down my favorite donut place in Cali. I moved from La to Miami and have to swing by whenever im in town. I usually go to the location by the grove but this was perfect enroute from lax to PV. We tried the seasonal olive oil with citrus and one of my favorites butter and salt which did not disappoint!
The donuts here are delicious! They have so many unique options which I love! On Mother's Day, ordered over 2 dozen donuts (about $130). Not busy at all on a Friday afternoon! Was able to find parking, walk, order and receive my order all in about 10 minutes. Got an apple fritter (only available on Fridays) and a Vietnamese iced coffee! The person who helped me was kind and quick. They informed me that if you download their app you get a free donut and coffee on your next visit! Inside is quite cramped and there is only 2 tables outside for seating so keep that in mind if you plan to stay here to enjoy your doughnuts. Apple Fritter was great! Not as crispy as I normally like but the inside was very fluffy and warm, not too sweet. 9/10 Vietnamese Iced Coffee was okay, stronger than I personally like but it's still good. 7/10 Would happily come back to try other donuts and drinks :) read more
So after a whirlwind of a day 1 on my 36 hr foodie trip to SoCal with my mother and 2 siblings-we decided to start Day 2 at a donut shop my brother had been telling me for weeks about this spot that was the best donut shop he has ever been-to which I always just rolled my eyes thinking "yeah right".Ive been to places-I've visited some of the best donuts shops in America-I always make it a point to find the best donut shops when I go to various cities within my travels-so yeah I didn't take his claim too seriously but I was definitely open to check it out-we headed to Sidecar Doughnuts in Manhattan Beach as soon as we woke up. This shop is located in a multi tenant shopping mall on N Sepulveda Blvd-so parking is plentiful-a true breeze. When we got in the shop I could tell this was not your everyday small town donut shop-there was a certain elegance to the design,the menu,the presentation and the donuts themselves. I also liked that they had a sampler donut out so a newbie customer like myself could try out their treats before deciding what to go with. These donuts aren't cheap by any means-they are going to cost you anywhere from $4.50 to $6.00 each-but this is one of those occasions where you truly get what you pay for-higher quality donuts come with higher prices and they are worth every penny. After a quick look at their impressive unique offerings we decided to go with the following donuts. Huckleberry-This donut was served warm and had a clean authentic flavor of huckleberry glaze with little bits of huckleberry infused-nothing artificial here-a true standout of a donut-9.3/10.0 item Butter and Salt-This may be their flagship donut,though huckleberry may give it a run for its money-This is a must try-great twist between sweet and salt with a light crisp exterior and super soft inside-this one surprised me-truly addictive with it's simplicity -8.9/10.0 item Magic Charm-This truly was Lucky Charms in donut form-talk about nostalgia in a donut-the glaze offers the milk flavor and the cereal toppings come in hard with the Lucky Charms topping-awesome trip down memory lane with this donut-8.7/10.0 item This trip these were the 3 I tried-others in the family tried others but I didn't get a chance to try em-so will leave rating those for next time. My absolutely favorite doughnuts.. EVER. Highly recommend the Huckleberry. I try new flavors but always come back to that one! The "cake" doughnuts are the best. A bit pricey for a doughnut and sometimes a wait in the morning, but worth it!! Only two small tables outside - best to order and take it elsewhere! read more

I love Sidecar and have been to plenty of locations, but the Manhattan Beach spot consistently misses the mark. Every single time I order the maple bacon donut, it's undercooked in the middle. It's beyond frustrating to drive 20 minutes for a donut, get to work, and realize half of it is gooey and basically inedible. This has happened more than once, so it doesn't feel like a fluke -- just disappointing. read more

I'm always a sucker for fancy-looking donuts and unique flavors so I was very excited to try Sidecar Doughnuts for the first time. My friends and I ordered the six donut box so we could sample lots of flavors! One of my favorite ones was definitely the Maple Bacon flavor. Such a classic flavor and mix of sweet and salty. I figured out that I'm a bigger fan of yeast donuts versus cake donuts, as I was a bit disappointed with some of the cake donuts due to flavor or texture. I will say Sidecar is in a nice location as there's a lot you can see around the area, so it's a great spot to get a quick bite and then exploring shops and other food places. read more
A must stop if you're in the area looking for something sweet. I went with one of the employees recommendation on a seasonal doughnut and it did not disappoint! She was describing all the wonderful taste and textures with it and what her experience was tasting it and it was like she had the same taste palette as mine so I trusted her word. My favorite donut shop in LA fr! The donuts are freshly made, flavors are unique and not overly sweet, and the savory flavored doughnuts are bursts of flavor in your mouth. My usuals are the Basil Egg Benedict, Glaze donut, cinnamon and sugar, Meyer lemon and now the Pizza Puff, a collab with Prince Pizza. Must try! They start serving at 11 am so get there a little early for the first batch. So happy I got to go today and it's fantastic! Service is always friendly and helpful. Ambiance is cute but the smell is the best. They also serve drinks. I usually get black coffee, or Vietnamese coffee here. Don't forget to download the Sidecar app to earn points for free donuts. The staff here is always fast and friendly. Lots of selections to choose. The problem is my issue with having a lot of favorites. I've tried so many and I love them all so I typically just buy one doughnut every time I visit. Buying any more would result in uncontrolled weight gain lol. This time I decided to try one of their top sellers, the Old Fashion. It's a cake doughnut with a simple glaze on top. A classic. Warm, soft, and sweet. The ambiance is nice too, its like any Sidecar doughnut location you go to. So if you like cake doughnuts then come check out this place. If you're not into the heaviness of these doughnuts then rest assured knowing they have the lighter yeast options but it's not as plentiful. Either way, I've never had a bad experience :) read more

It begins with the sights of delicious unique donuts! It's worth the drive coming from Simi Valley. The teasing aroma will make you buy everything! Grabbed a half dozen and the cravings subsided. Each donut was unique on their own fabulous way. We could tell top tier ingredients smoothly landed on our taste buds. It was fresh, buttery, creamy, salty, sweet, chocolaty, and velvety. Something heavenly is happening. Warm friendly service funneled down to a wonderful experience. Inside was small, simple and modern. It's like a donut boutique shop! When I used to live in LA, Sidecar immediately made my foodie list upon learning about in on some media platform back in the day (maybe Food Network?). I don't know what it is about LA and doughnut culture, but I always find myself craving doughnuts in LA, more than anywhere else. Maybe because the whole genre of "boutique doughnut shops" started here? Anyways, I digress... After my Saturday long run along the coast, Sidecar in Manhattan Beach was in a convenient enough location for me to make it be my finish for the long run. Since the weather was bouncing back and forth between cool and hot, I ended up going with an iced coffee (requested vanilla flavor) topped with vanilla cold foam. For my doughnut, I stayed with the tried and true classic Huckleberry flavor. The doughnut itself has the texture more like a cake that a battered and fried doughnut. The icing was generously layered, which is what I prefer. I wasn't a fan of the iced coffee + cold foam combo, and could barely detect any vanilla flavor. Sidecar is definitely a must if you are a doughnut fan and are in LA. They also have a location in Santa Monica, so you are covered regardless of where you are along the coast. read more

I got a dozen donuts today and a couple more donuts .. my issue was they have no paper bags , despite of me telling the person in the counter I can't juggle all the boxes together with my bag . I was carrying 2 medium boxes and 2 small ones .. just as I feared before I reach my work place one of the boxes fell .. and the worst part is , the lady in the counter who gave me my donuts didn't put tape on the boxes .. so my beautiful donut roll over the floor!!! With the price I paid you would think they will be better, Krispy Kreme always taped the boxes -- not going to back to this branch --- sooo mad at that girl for being irresponsible ... read more

Went in to try some seasonal flavors, along with the BS & Huckleberry. I mean, I am not surprised at how delicious the seasonal flavors are. First time at this location, service and cleanliness was exactly what I'd expect from SC. I am not a coffee person, but the banana bread latte was fantastic. read more

Donuts are delicious no doubt about it! And there's nothing like a fancy donut to make you feel like a fancy American ;) This tiny outpost of fresh-made donuts has some real pluses to it. I have been to this Sidecar multiple times at multiple days and different hours including the unlikely afternoon hour and the super busy morning hour on the weekend, where you can expect to wait in line. Suggest preordering on the app if you can in that situation. You also get bonuses for having their loyalty Of course, there are the delicious donuts ... + Stars amazing and not greasy donuts, including seasonal flavors, like Samosa, and Thin Mint during Girl Scout cookie season + Stars really kind and lovely front staff + Stars free coffee with Yelp checkin Things that take a star off this experience: - Stars while there is parking nearby there's not a safe crosswalk from the closest parking to the store. It's too bad this wasn't considered when they planned the parking area that's just south of the store. - Stars there is no restroom here so if you need to go to the bathroom you're out of luck. Closest public loo is either CVS or inside the mall. - Stars very little seating. They only have two tables with two chairs each, and all outside. the first few times at this location , all of the items were first day made fresh. delivered warm and hot. the last few times , they were extremely stale. the vanilla bean glazed is stale and chewy. no bueno. the white chocolate banana walnut was also chewy and seemed semi stale. maybe it's been a slow week. no wonder the promotion was 40% off. no bueno. no more from this location. chuck the deucez paz read more

Our favorite doughnuts in Los Angeles and there are a sprinkling of them every where now. I like the positive friendly greeting from every store I have been to. I love that some store have different doughnuts being offered from others in a 2 day span! I love that I can get an excellent cold brew and chai latte with oat milk - with my order! (Don't need to seek out a Coffee stop) We love: Huckleberry Strawberry buttermilk Salt & butter But that passion fruit pavlova thing being offered is haunting me for not trying it. Looks weird but when explained sounds amazing. Each store is very tidy, modern and crisp aesthetics, with outdoor seating. Download their app and get a free doughnut and drink!
