It was pure luck that I discovered Lucky's Donuts in downtown El Segundo :). I was waiting for a local lunch spot to open up and was on Yelp checking out what other places were nearby when I spotted a picture of a yummy looking cinnamon donut. This led me to discovering Lucky's Donuts. I ended up visiting Lucky's Donuts after lunch and got the following: Bavarian cream donut holes ($1.75 for 6) Tigers Tail donut ($1.80) Butterfly Cinnamon ($2.50). The Bavarian cream donuts were melt in your mouth perfection. They were so soft and fluffy and were definitely quite the treat! I also enjoyed the Tigers Tail donut. It was also very soft. The sweetness was just right. Last but not least was the Butterfly Cinnamon. It was the photo of this delightful donut that got me here in the first place. The yummy picture definitely did not lie because this was such a yummy donut. I loved the hint of cinnamon and was pleasantly surprised to find some apple bits inside. The worst donuts I've had. The customer service from the two owners was so rude as well. They were both snappy and acted like they wanted every customer gone. The environment is very unwelcoming and the place looks outdated. The food is far far below average. The apple fritter tasted like it was frozen and days old. It had a weird after taste like cinnamon, plastic, freezer burn. The regular donuts were bland and felt like they were also a day old and not fresh. Lastly, the prices are really high for no reason. The donuts are stale and the customer service is even staler. The lady that works here needs to learn how to smile and greet people. She looked angry for no reason. I was the only customer there so it wasn't like she was busy. But instead of being welcoming, she was rude and had a sour puss face the entire time. There is nothing Lucky at Lucky's Donuts. In-fact you will find out how unlucky you are when you eat one of their donuts. The only reason I went there was because they were the only one in town. Now there's Dough Boy Donuts right next door. Less than a length of a football field you can walk next door and purchase a donut that is 10 times better than the crap Lucky Donuts offer. In addition you don't have to count your change every time you go to Dough Boy because they won't steal your money. Finally, why are Lucky's Donuts So Small. They realize business is bad so instead of being nicer to customers or improving on the taste their solution is to offer smaller donuts to make up for the lost margin. I was expecting one or two to be all stars and the rest to be average but every single one was so perfectly balanced. I have been coming to this place a few years now and it is the only place I know that carries not only just glazed donut holes but jelly-filled, Bavarian cream and sprinkled. I placed my order 2 weeks ago in person and I have to admit, the owner was taken back. She was going to refuse my order b/c 44 dozen (12x44= 528) donut holes. But her partner donut baker in the back was confident that they could fulfill our order in time. I picked up my donuts at 8:15am and they were ready. Had to pick up someone from the airport this early morning. They were flying Frontier Airlines (terrible airlines). I needed a place to grab something to snack on and coffee and found Lucky's Donuts. It's a tiny corner spot in a mini strip mall. Walked in to decently neat and clean place. The place was well stocked with donuts for 1:20 am. I ordered a cinnamon roll and a glazed twist with a large coffee. The cinnamon roll was on point! Especially at 1:20 am! Moist and soft and airy! The only thing that would've made it taste more fresh is if it was warm and straight outta the kitchen. Very impressed! The coffee wasn't bad either. A little on the light side, but hey... this isn't a coffee joint where one can request a dark or medium roast. I'd definitely recommend! Bravo to the owner. Nice guy too! read more

I was so eager to try this place as I have often passed by it while going into & out of El Segundo; and it is practically the only 24 hour coffee & donut shop in town; besides possibly the nearby gas station. They were practically out of every single donut besides some stale pastries; & I came around 8 pm on a busy Thursday night! How can you not be functioning during such a busy time? I love how they have low sugar options for their cake and old-fashioned donuts (simply ask for them since I don't think they're usually labeled), so I can enjoy them covered in chocolate without having something overly sweet.
