Came for the Coffee, Left Wondering Why I Haven't Been Here Sooner First time stopping by Philz Coffee in El Segundo, and I'll be honest--I wasn't expecting to be this impressed. But apparently Philz decided to prove a point. They had a few specials going, and naturally I saw Pecan Pie Iced Latte and immediately understood that I was no longer in control of my decision-making. I ordered it, and it was exactly the kind of sweet, smooth coffee I was looking for. Basically, dessert put on a business-casual outfit and became coffee. Of course, I couldn't just enjoy my coffee in peace, so I had to make sure the wife was taken care of too. I got her the Sea Salt Caramel Matcha, and she gave it the official approval--which, for anyone married, you know is basically a five-star inspection from the FDA. The service was fast and friendly, which is always appreciated when you're looking for that caffeine-induced personality upgrade. Everyone was pleasant, and we didn't have to stand around wondering if our drinks were going to arrive sometime next Tuesday. The location itself is another major plus. It's conveniently situated near several other places to grab food, so it's an easy stop for a post-meal coffee, afternoon pick-me-up, or "I said I wasn't getting coffee today but here we are" situation. And this place is BIG. There's plenty of seating with tables, chairs, and benches, making it easy to come here to work, catch up with friends, hang out, or just sit there pretending you're being productive while scrolling through your phone. Overall, I was very, very pleasantly surprised by Philz. Good drinks, friendly service, plenty of space, and a convenient location. Whenever I am in this area, I usually grab a donut next door at Randy's. Wanted some coffee and a donut this morning after I landed at LAX, and decided to drop into Philz before grabbing my donut from next door. Nice upbeat coffee shop and very busy which is a good thing. Celebrating summer early by having their summer special Peanut Butter Cup, which I surprisingly was quite impressed by. It's not too heavily peanutty, more like a hint of flavor in it. More on the sweeter side surely so you might wanna adjust the sweetness level, depending on your preference. Highly recommending online pre-order since this outlet was almost always busy with quite a line. Online order even took sometime to be ready. I had their Philtered Soul here, smooth texture but a bit more bitter than usual, not consistent quality compared to other Philz locations. This was my first time trying the peanut butter cup, and it hit the spot! It's made with Philtered Soul cold brew, a PB swirl, cream, and cocoa. There is enough parking with the other restaurants in this little square but I noticed most of the patrons order online. I usually order the hot Tiramisu small sweetened to balance out the bold flavor. Be patient with your order there is a method to this style of drip coffee because the coffee is straight from flavor town! They have the standard pastries and staff recommended coffee flavors and pastries. There is a shared outdoor seating in the shade that has enough real estate for small and medium sized groups. I used to frequent this location before another one was opened closer to me. Nothing, but good things to say about this Philz! Parking is a bit cramped, but I've always managed to secure a spot for my quick morning pick ups. Given the size of the shop, it can get crowded - but the service is top-tier. Quick, efficient, and friendly (but not overly friendly) workers that get the line moving fast, emptying the shop at an equally fast rate. You can't go wrong with their signature sweet, creamy Iced Mint Mojito or the Silken Splendor Cold Brew. But be sure to try any employee recs/concoctions occasionally posted on the chalkboards. Ordering in store vs on app makes no difference. I ordered for a specific time and waited 15 extra minutes past. What's the point of online ordering for a time if it isn't ready? Ever since I discovered this Philz location, I've been coming here exclusively because they always make my drinks the best. That being said, I've had my fair share of Mint Mojitos in my life, but in my girlfriend's words, "I didn't know a Mint Mojito could taste like that." It was bland, watery, lacked any real mint flavor, and tasted like no cream or sugar had been added. This was the first time I went out of my way to ask for a drink to be remade, and somehow it tasted even worse the second time (made by the same barista that made the first one named Andrea). My daughter asked me to try this coffee place after buying our donuts next door. This store is busy and yes, my first time although I have seen it everywhere. The welcoming voice of one of the baristas was a nice gesture for customers. My daughter is very picky and the lady made sure she will get the right amount of the ingredients to meet her choices. Staff were very friendly, they took orders quickly & I didn't have to wait super long for my drink, even though there were a lot of people in front of me in line. I tried a new drink this time (the Tiramisu) which was pretty good, though I think I'll stick with my usual favorite (the Mint Mojito) in the future. Not spectacular. For the price of a cup of coffee, this is what I expected. I came in to try it out. I bought a Churro drink for my wife and the oatmeal cookie coffee for myself. I asked if they could make it without sugar, and they said yes, which surprised me. However, I was extremely disappointed to find that it was just the other ingredients, minus any sweetener. It tasted like dry cinnamon and nutmeg were added. Was definitely not worth the $8 or what ever I paid for the drink, not to mention that it took 20+ minutes for two coffees, they ended up getting one of the drinks wrong and had to remake it and I had to listen to the manager or whatever chastise three employees for not putting the nutmeg in the right place. read more

I came to this Philz location solely because my usual Philz (Del Amo) was out of Winter Bliss Cold Brew. This drink is SO good. I wish that they would keep it year round because it might be one of my favorite coffees I get anywhere!! Trust me, it's worth the wait here. Every cup is made to order, brewed with freshly ground coffee beans. Whenever we visit from Las Vegas, we always bring home bags of beans cause they're just that good. Their iced gingersnap and iced mint mojito are my usual go to's, less sweet but extra creamy! I miss it already. This location is not too big but they do have a nice outdoor seating area that's peaceful and quiet. I fully expect a long wait at Philz--nobody comes here for a quick caffeine fix, and I'm totally fine with that. That's not the issue. The issue is that the outdoor patio area is downright disgusting. The cushioned seats are deeply stained, the tables are sticky, and during my visit, a family spread out a box of Randy's Donuts, leaving behind crumbs and spilled coffee all over the lounge area. In the two hours I sat there working on my MacBook, not a single employee came out to wipe down tables, sweep, or do any basic upkeep. By the end of my visit, gnats were swarming everywhere--so badly that I finally snapped, packed up, and walked out muttering, "F*ck this place," in total frustration. It's a real shame because I live within walking distance and actually want to like this location--but I can't deal with the filth or lack of attention to cleanliness. And for what it's worth, the whole Rosecrans Corridor scene sucks bad. It's overrun with 'taller-than-thou square-jawed, self-important business bros' in loud conversations about their salaries and startup deals. The whole area feels sterile and soulless--a corporate bubble with zero culture. Unless you fit neatly into that mold (which, thank God for society most of us do not!) don't bother wasting your time or energy here! read more

Not even once. If i order for pick up at 9:10, i wait an additional 20 mins. I totally understand how busy it gets. But theres a reason why ppl order on the app ahead of time. They do not have enough workers for the morning rush and its so annoying. I waste my time waiting when i place an order so I do not have to wait. The irony. Theres parking, another structure if the main parking lot is full. The coffee is whatever but it helps when u want some caffeine. Waiting for an order is annoying.
