We had a great breakfast at Side Pierce yesterday. We had biscuits and sausage gravy, a biscuit and a latke between us, along w horchata, orange juice and coffee. The table next to us had biscuits sandwiches and they were so big the couple spent a few minutes just figuring out how to tackle them! The short line moved quickly. The majority of orders were take out so there was nearly always one table empty or about to be empty. And of course there is lots of outside seating. Very eclectic restaurant. We got there around 10am. There was a waiting line out the door. Beau didn't want to wait as he doesn't believe anything that has a line is worth waiting for. I convinced him to wait because I have only heard rave reviews about this place. So we waited...and waited...and waited. Mid wait the owner/cashier announces that they only have 2 dozen biscuits left. Keep in mind, they are also out of a few things on the menu such as the cheddar bae biscuit. We anxiously pray that they don't sell out as we inch our way to the front. I ordered the Stoner SOS and chose the mushroom gravy. That may have been my bad. Who orders mushroom based gravy? Gravy tastes good because of the pork fat. The owner assured me it was one of her "favorites". I also ordered a slice of strawberry churro cheesecake to go. My beau ordered the Sizzurup and a Bloody Mary. He got the Bloody Mary first and it was delicious. Best Bloody Mary I have had. Super cute pineapple glasses. There was no seating when we got the bloody mary but the high top table did open when were waiting so we snagged that quick. Food didn't take long at all. Stoner SOS wasn't anything to rave about. It was ok. There wasn't much flavor to the gravy and the biscuit wasn't anything special. Before I took a bite into it, I thought the jalapeños would have a lot of zing to them as they look homemade. Didn't have much flavor. My beau thought his sandwich was good. He's not a biscuit person so that says a lot. Although he said he wouldn't wait in line again. Neither would I. The cheesecake was unique. It had a strawberry iced like topping on it which was very sweet. The cool whip wasn't homemade because it tasted like Cool Whip from Walmart. That was disappointing. Came here on a Sunday. Arrived 15 minutes after they opened and there was already a line so for first timers, expectations were high & they definitely delivered! Service was great, they tend to the customers that are dining in. Decor was cute, music was upbeat and definitely turns up the retro 90s vibe. Food was good. We Got the baca sandwiches and the homemade biscuits were perfect. Not dry, flavorful and would totally try by itself next time. Only thing id said is that for a sandwich, I wish there was less biscuit. Like it definitely overtook the whole sandwich but not in a bad way. It all depends on preference. I'm so glad we have another place that specializes in cheesecake in Tacoma besides Cheesecake factory. Nothing against cheesecake from Cheesecake factory, but if you've tried Side Piece Kitchen's cheesecakes then you'll understand. Their cheesecakes were decedent yet not overly sweet and not too dense/our thick where you get that stuffed icky feeling after eating something that was super heavy in cream and cheese you know what I mean...Also, the slices are freaking HUGE for about $6-$7 each, yeah get it! The biscuits were also good. I'm usually not a biscuit person because of the dry texture, but these biscuits were nothing like that. They were packed with flavor and warm/buttery on the inside. Did I have to mention again that their biscuit is also HUGE! I recommend trying their biscuit with one of their homemade jam/jellys. It's the perfect combo. read more

We've been wanting to try out side piece kitchen for some time now & we finally had a day off together to go check it out it was worth the hype & the wait. The biscuit flavor was so buttery melt in your mouth, the bacon was THICC & delicious. The maple syrup compliments the sausage/biscuit SO well. The inside was so cute I loved the Christmas decorations. Staff was nice & quick service too! We only had to wait about 10-15 for our food once the order was placed. Listen if the name doesn't get you, take a look at the menu. The names of the items are hilarious. The owner has been in every time and is so amazing and friendly. The drinks are strong, they even have an MD2020 drink. I loveeeeee their gravy. This place is a must go to whenever I'm in tacoma. I've also definitely driven here in the morning from Everett because it's just that amazing. The Bloody Mary comes with the cutest mini biscuit. They also give you the option between regular and cheddar bay biscuit. I just wish one of these existed in the north end where I live. The inside can be challenging to find a spot but it's worth the wait and typically you can squeeze in somewhere or go outside, but it's definitely getting a little too cold for that. I am ashamed to say this is my first, extremely belated visit to SPK. I've been following them on Instagram since they were takeout-only from a little popup til now, where they boast a full-blown brick-and-mortar establishment. Parking is tight in the strip mall. They're perched on the corner with a cute front patio for extra seating. Line can get out the door. You order first at the counter then find a seat. I got takeout since all the tables were taken. Food is great. I am normally not a fan of biscuits BUT THESE ARE THE EXCEPTION. I got the avocado biscuit toast, which is a whole meal and a half. Plenty of avocado, tomatoes, and a large buttermilk biscuit sliced in half and toasted. And it is served Benedict style with two poached eggs. Quality ingredients and freshly made! So good! I also got the churro cheesecake, which was one of their special "Taco Bell" themed desserts. A little steep at $12/slice, but also this was delicious. Heard that this was a must go spot. Headed there pretty early, or so I thought and there was already a line out the door. But the place is pretty small. They did advise they are working on expanding the restaurant but no ETA at this time. You'll find once you get inside, you're in a time warp. There's a few tables inside and outside. But you know how our weather is, so be prepared if you have to eat outside. Now the food. Got a few different items. The biscuits and gracy are Def on the savory side, but for me personally a bit too rich. Turns out , I just like the old school black pepper gravy. But since it is different, I'd recommend getting it with the cheddar bae biscuits (There is slight upcharge for this.) Get half mushroom gravy and half sausage so you can taste both. Also got the Baca which you can pick a regular or cheddar bae biscuits, which I was advised was pretty tasty. This sandwich has bacon, avocado, sharp cheddar, and a hard friend egg (you can't change the way the egg comes). Also got a Pineapple Upside Cake, which was actually a cheesecake too. The staff is super friendly and the vibes is chill. One thing to keep in mind, if you have an AMEX card, the charge may show up as a women's day spa. I asked the restaurant themselves if they knew it does that and they are aware. Seen a lot of posting on social media about this business and decided to give it a try. What I can say is the athmosphere is a on a whole blast from the past for sure, nostalgic child hood memories came protruding as I stepped in from the pictures and decor. The menu is pretty creative and interesting. I tried the stoners SOS and my sister got the Sizzurup. All was super tasty! The SOS was generously served in a big portion and took the rest home. Horchatas was nice and refreshing! Oreo was great for chocolatey lovers. The latke was like a hashbrown and was served with like an apple jelly that was fiiiire! Service was great! Everyone seemed to be in good energy! From observing while waiting for food, cooks were happy and chatty and the energy was great! Side Piece Kitchen has been a place I wanted to try for a while now. I strongly recommend getting here right when they open. There may be a line but it will be nothing compared how it would grow as the morning goes on. The food here is excellent! So the line is definitely warranted. I got the Hot Hitter Biscuit Sandwich and loved it! The Tomato Jam and the jalapeños really made this biscuit sandwich great! The biscuits are made perfectly and would be awesome with just with butter but the sandwiches are definitely something to try out! We got a side to share, Steve and me and got a Latke to share. Yes, thus type of hashbrown was good by itself but add some sour cream to it and it's another winning hit! Not only is Side Piece Kitchen is known for their buscuits but they are also known for their cheesecake which is truly phenomenal and out of this world! We got a nice, big slice of a pistachio cheesecake and it was absolutely fantastic! Some of the best cheesecake I've had in a very long time. It's so cute and welcoming inside. It gives off 70s style vibes, and they were playing great music. Everything we ordered was so good - having the option to get both mushroom and sausage gravy mixed was awesome. I will say it's a little small in there so getting a seat inside might be difficult, but you can get items to go! Service: kind and helpful people working behind the scenes. Giving great recommendations with patience for a new timer. Ambiance: the vibes were definitely there. Just a chill set up with a decent amount of seating. Food: First our drinks were pretty good. My girlfriend got the mad dog which was like a stouter version of a mimosa. I got the Bloody Mary which was amazing. On to the food, I got the hot hitter and it was incredible. The tomato jam the pickled jalapeños was a great pairing. My girl got the sizzurup with the vegan meat sausage option and that hit the spot too. I think what tied it all together was the side of mushroom gravy we got on the side. Their portion sizes are out of control too so come hungry or be prepared to save some for leftovers. Their location is Tacoma is easy to find and is a cozy little whole in the wall that gives off a friendly down to earth vibe. Food is ordered at the counter and seating is self serve. We saw this restaurant on Instagram and I could not resist it because of his name and because how good the biscuits looks online so we went and I have to say that the biscuits were dry and the biscuit to meat/cheese/egg ratio was not balance. It was a lot of biscuit and not a lot of other things so I didn't really enjoy it as much as I thought I would. Inside the store was very sexualized photos of women so would I take my kid here? No and that was disappointing. The bathroom access was outside the building outside - even though that the bathroom itself was inside the building .Service was super pleasant. My friend loved The Loud Pack Sando (the orange aoili sauce especially). The cheesecake was the highlight for me. $12/slice. This place is so adorable!! Found them randomly on Instagram and had to try them out. The decor is so fun and cute, small and cozy feeling. I had to get my food Togo because seating is very limited but I didn't mind. I got the vegetarian biscuit with arugula and fig jam, it was so yummy!! The restaurant was busy, with people scattered at small tables and a steady stream of customers at the counter, so I expected a lively yet comfortable dining experience. I ordered the special to eat inside, paid for it, but was then asked to leave after what felt like a minor misstep-- even though I was not disruptive in any way. This incident felt abrupt and uncomfortable. The food was just okay at best; the special didn't hit right, and I barely finished it, walking away still hungry. My wife got the Sizzurup biscuit sandwich--maple sausage, white cheddar, fried eggs, maple syrup, and chives on their buttery biscuit--and even that didn't wow us. The front cashier was genuinely awesome and helpful, though; he was the only real highlight and deserves way more than 5 stars. I have been to sidepiece about 6 or 7 times. I would go more often but the only day I have time for breakfast out is the weekends and they are packed. The biscuits and their breakfast entrees are delicious and the cheesecake is legendary. I decided to have a lowkey bday last year and got a bunch of slices of different flavors to celebrate with my friends. The owner, Haley, is a hoot and I love her social media presence. Finally getting to try this place out! Love the retro vibe the staff members interacted with were very friendly. Was sad the specials were sold out but gives me a good excuse to come back. It was a long line, but I got to it in a reasonable time. I had anticipated spending at least an hour there. As far as dining, the lack of chairs was understandable given the small size of the establishment. I would have preferred to have sat down and dined, but perhaps I will reconsider next time. However, the food was amazing. The biscuit was fluffy, flavorful, and massive. Big-backed people should come here; you would love it. The vegan patties were amazing, and the fig sauce that came on the fig poppa was perfect. I added an egg to boost the protein content, and it cooked to perfection. My partner and I decided to go early and I'm glad we did cause there were ppl waiting before they opened.
