Very small spot ... after we were there for 10 minutes they started turning people away because they were busy so get there before noon for a good lunch spot! Everything we got was super tasty and very affordable. I will warn though, a spice level of 4/10 here is like a 4/5 or 5/5 at most Pittsburgh Thai places. Use caution!

Tucked away on 1st Avenue, Siam Thai is easy to overlook. I came here shortly after 11 on a Monday so not busy yet. The first item they brought was the mini Tom Yum soup with mushroom. You can taste the tangy-ness, the sour and spice all at once. Next were the spring rolls, which I did enjoy the sauce and the crisp exterior (insides I wish the filling had some more texture, but the flavor was still good). The main entree was the cashew chicken, with spiciness on a scale of 6 out of 10 (they were accurate with the spice; I've known places that calibrate down depending on who orders it but they were fair). The dish was sweet and heat and spicy all at once, and everything well cooked. Finally, the Thai iced tea - definitely sweet and had the spice flavor, but just a little more of the condensed milk would have been perfect. Service was good, but then again, it just opened and I was the only one there (not many tables so might be a good idea to get in early). Really enjoyed my visit here and would be happy to go back soon. Solid four stars.

Siam Thai restaurant's menu lists dozens of appetizers, soups, curries, main courses, noodles, rices, and beverages. Prices are very reasonable. I ordered several foods for delivery. Here are my ratings for these foods: Samosas - 4 stars - Fried pastries were stuffed with potatoes, carrots, and green peas, and they tasted good. On the side was a sweet-and-sour sauce. Crab Angel Rangoon - 4 stars - Several wontons were filled with cream cheese, some crab meat, and green onions, and I liked them. On the side was sweet-and-sour sauce. Thai Spring Rolls - 4 stars - Several rolls were filled with carrots, vermicelli, and cabbage. On the side was sweet-and-sour sauce. My husband said that he enjoyed the taste of these spring rolls. Green Curry Lunch - 4 stars - I ordered a protein of shrimp. Other ingredients included broccoli, green beans, peas, bell peppers, basil leaves, coconut milk, and green curry paste. I had requested a spiciness level of 5/10, and it was still pretty spicy. Pad Thai - 4 stars - This stir fry contained rice noodles, egg, scallions, peanuts, and bean sprouts. My husband ordered a protein of chicken. He said that he liked this entree. Pad See Ew - 4 stars - This stir fry contained rice noodles, egg, broccoli, and soy sauce. My husband chose a protein of duck. Yes, duck! He felt happy to see duck on the menu.

The food was very delightful! I had never tried real pad thai before so i'm happy to say my first time was a good one. The place was able to accommodate for all 5 of us. We went during lunchtime and the service was very good. I would definitely come back here. The thai tea was also great. The inside of the restaurant is very cute.

Hands down, my new favorite Thai restaurant in the city. We ordered takeout for lunch today and I am so happy we switched it up and tried Siam. The food was prepared super quick, and each one of us had giant portions! The flavor and quality were both awesome, and I will say they're spicy scale runs 1-10, and 2 was enough for me! Some of my coworkers tried a four pad Thai, which they said was super spicy; and the chicken Basil with an eight, where my coworker played it cool and I thought he quite possibly may have already burned all of his tastes buds off, but I know he was feeling it the rest of the afternoon!

Delicious Thai food downtown with a pretty great location. They offer many of the classic Thai dishes with great portions and very fair prices. Tonight, I ordered the pad Thai with chicken (level 1 spice), spring rolls, and Thai iced tea. I thought the pad Thai was delicious but had a slightly strange red hue to it. The portion size is more than enough for a meal and they are generous with their meat portions as well. The chicken seems to be high quality; not too chewy. The pad Thai is not too dry nor too saucy (although I would have liked a tad more sauce). It's flavorful and definitely quite good for the price. Usually the redness means it's going to be too sweet, but I found this to have a great balance of sweetness. They have a significant amount of peanuts sprinkled around on the top. Their Thai iced tea is also quite good. Many places make their tea overly sweet, but I found this to be a bit creamier and less sweet than other Thai restaurants. Again, the price was very good for the portion (just $3) and it was still flavorful and tasty. They make some decent spring rolls, too. I wouldn't say there is anything special about them other than you are given a great portion for the price. I believe I got 5-6 for just $5.50. The inside is stuffed with primarily cabbage, some carrot, glass nooodle, and other vegetables as well. They were pretty crispy and overall decent. Served with a small container of sweet chili sauce which I enjoyed. All in all, this is a solid choice for Thai food downtown. They make a great Pad Thai and Thai iced coffee, especially for the price. The food didn't blow me away, but it was still good and I'd recommend the place.

    Green Curry Lunch w/ Tofu

Standard Thai place, but pretty good! The spice levels are nice so def get a lower spice level if you are sensitive! They have a really cheap lunch special too, like $10 (as of Sep 2024).

I was so excited to try this place but unfortunately, it's the worst Thai I've had in the Pittsburgh area.

Both delicious. The 17 ingredient salad is highly recommended and we could tell why. So refreshing and flavorful. It was fun finding all of the 17 ingredients. For our entrees I got the crispy shrimp and my boyfriend got the khao soi. Both left us craving more the whole drive home. Staff were so pleasant and happy to answer any questions. Beautiful restaurant, indoor and outdoor. I think next time we visit, we will have a later reservation outside to enjoy the greenery. Make a reservation at least a month in advance!! If not, there are some bar seats available but make sure to get there early.

Finally, I was determined and I booked out probably 2 1/2 months in advance.... And ended up going in the dead of winter. I know that I would've enjoyed my experience much more if we could've sat in the garden, that's probably an excellent vibe. I'm a spicy marg lover so I tried-new person same old mistakes-it didn't really strike me as spicy but more so smoky and I wanted spicy. We did the khao yum-it was unique, I think I would really have loved this. If it was hot out it seems like it would be very refreshing and light and more ideal for the spring and summer and like I said we went in the dead of winter. I did the beef tenderloin as my main and it was good, it wasn't too spicy, had a nice flavor, but I don't know that I would order it again. If it wasn't so hard to get a reservation, I would definitely come here more. I really liked the vibe and the aesthetic.

It is really good but quite expensive. I got to try their chicken satay, Tom kha soup, pad see ew with tofu, and Thai custard. Now, the Tom kha soup I didn't have very much of, but it was decent. Lots of coconut milk to balance the spice (not too spicy at all), but I'm just not really used to this flavor. The chicken satay, though, was really good. Very lean chicken grilled perfectly with a nice sauce. Definitely recommend. As for the mains, the pad see ew was also very tasty. Quite noodle heavy here, which I don't mind. The vegetables are fresh, and the tofu was nicely cooked. Definitely recommend as well. Finally, the Thai custard. It was also excellent. Interestingly, there's a hint of chocolate as well or something of the sort besides just coconut milk. But still, very good, very creamy, and just a nice dessert. All in all, I really like this spot. They have awesome outdoor seating if you are able to catch it (indoors is great too with all the nice paintings and such but more crowded). Portions are big, but the prices are pretty high as well. Still, I'd recommend.
