The food here is great. The food will be in small portions, but it can be surprisingly filling if you order a good amount. We had octopus with potatoes, pork with chocolate sauce, baby shark, toasted bread with toppings, sautéed chicken in beer, and blood sausage. Every choice was delicious and I didn't have a problem with any of them. My favorite was the pork in chocolate sauce. The pork was cooked well and the chocolate sauce paired up nicely to my surprise. To top it all off, we had dessert. We tried the chocolate mousse and the Catalan crema. They were both sweet and had good flavor. The mousse is really filling since it comes in a pretty big jar. Can't go wrong with either one (but I would pick the mousse). This is a great place with tasty tapas and a nice atmosphere. It's a cozy little house with a good vibe for lunch or dinner. I haven't hopped on here in a long while but I was so disappointed in this restaurant after seeing all the positive reviews, that I had to. The best part about my experience was the amazing bottle of wine we got (10/10) Other than that we ordered the patatas bravas, octopus, lamb chops, tuna, and carne cruda. The presentation for each dish was very unimpressive which I knew going into it from other reviews but I had a hunch that the food was gonna blow my mind The potato's were literally nothing special at all (not bad not good). We didn't eat them all if that says anything. The lamb chops were delicious but a more expensive item on the menu for only 3 lamb chops (ours were small and cold). I would recommend though just because it's the best thing we had next to the wine. The carne cruda and octopus were overpowered by seasoning. The octopus was the worst dish I have ever been served at a restaurant. The seasoning was overdone, and the octopus was half warm and half freezing cold (we were concerned because we had no idea what it was even supposed to be). Regardless, it was disgusting and disappointing for two people that absolutely love octopus. Next, the tuna. I was excited because this is a top rated item in reviews but I truly don't know why. The tuna has no flavor and is just covered in pepper and oil/butter. Better than the octopus because I would rather have no flavor than too much paprika exploding in my mouth. We decided to still get dessert after all of this to give it a chance. We got the cream brûlée! I will say it was good but it was really a bowl of cold liquid pudding. That dish is supposed to have a warm top but it did not at all. It just made me think that none of the food is made fresh and is just sitting on ready to go plates as needed. Lastly, I just want to touch on the service and experience. We sat outside which was very nice but when we sat down we noticed the terribly low quality tables and chairs they have for their customers. They are so uncomfortable and the last thing I expected to be sitting in on date night. I know that's very picky but it added in top of our miserable experience. Our waitress was the most dull and inattentive I've had in my time in Dallas. She never came to ask us how our meal was (probably because she knew it was bad) and she was so slow to follow up with us regarding ordering more food/just checking in. She was unfriendly to say the least and I will never be going back. She needs to work immensely on her customer service skills because she works in the restaurant industry or she needs to get out of it. The only thing I thought could be better were maybe the fried herrings (boquerones fritos) which has a little too much of a fishy taste and also the string beans (judias verdes) which I felt were a bit undercooked. But for happy hour, I highly recommend the open-faced toast bites (montaditos), Spanish potato frittata (tortilla española), and garlic shrimp (gambillas al ajillo). During happy hour, each of these things cost $3. Sangria during happy hour is also a good deal at $4. There are also more special items in the menu, such as the ones with chorizo con gulas (Spanish sausage with baby eels - delish!) but they're served under regular menu prices. Most everything was excellent - shrimp in garlic with a great hint of wine, croquettes with Serrano ham were perfectly fried, potatas bravas had some crisp and perfect heat with the sauce. The cauliflower gratin was divine and some of the best albondigas we've ever had. Pork with carmelized onion n blu cheese were perfectly balanced. The only food miss was the chicken in saffron - good flavor but the chicken was really over cooked and tough. The service was efficient. The food is good here sometimes, I've been eating here for years. The last time I ate here they gave me over cooked and chewy octopus. I asked for them to take it off the check because it tasted bad. The owner/chef came up to my table and yelled at me for returning the octopus and scolded me telling me I knew nothing about food. Our waitress was also upright rude to us throughout our meal. Came here on a Saturday night around 7 pm.. it was about a 20 min wait for a table for two but we were able to get drinks at the bar. First of all, their sangria is so delicious. I've been in Dallas for over a year now and gave up on getting good sangria until this place! For dinner we ordered 4 dishes to share. The chicken in saffron sauce, calamari, cheese plate, and mussels. The mussels were so-so but I'm not a big sea food person, my friend liked them a lot though. I loved the calamari and the aioli it comes with. The chicken was flavorful as well. For desserts we got the chocolate mousse (which is veeeeery cocoa-y) and their version of an apple pie which was delicious. Finally the atmosphere of this place is just great! We were in town for the H20 Tour with Mana and everyone else that shwed up. Staying at the Sheraton we found this on yelp and decided to stop by. We didnt know that you HAD to park Valet and drove around looking for parking. That loses one start already. We arrived and their place was just plain disorganized. I haven't seen that much grass in uptown.... Ever?! Our table ordered the following: fried calamari, the Spanish potato omelette, garlic shrimp, olives, chicken in garlic (nom nom), and fried okra (we ARE in the South). And that was just the first round :) after sampling the above, we recorded okra, chicken and shrimp. Why not? They were $3/plate! We also ordered three pitchers of Echegaray ($12/each). To be honest had no idea this was a nicely romantically lit venue. That being said, I would say this is the perfect place to have a date. We got the house wine bottle and it paired so well with the cheese plate that we got. We selected the manchego, Zamorano, and Murcia goat cheese, with one of the cold cuts that I don't remember. Extremely poor customer service and completely cheating the customer. The Si Tapas restaurant was my favorite Spanish restaurant with amazing food and wonderful customer service. Today we went and our server was ALEX. Please please avoid ALEX. They bill was not very large and we paid 18% tips to ALEX. But, on closer scrutiny, the bill looked strange. ALL ITEMS were charged 4% more. That was never explained when the bill was given. So, if you are not careful, this restaurant WILL charge you 4% more without informing you before hand. One solution, give lesser tips to the SERVER. By law ( and we checked with VISA and MC ) the establishments in TEXAS is supposed to give you prior notice before charging you a CREDIT CARD 4% extra charge. They have NO notice of that sort. Not written and the server will NOT tell you. They think that people will not notice. Hey, I love the restaurant, but this is very very poor customer service. My advice, please take care or AVOID this restaurant. The food is good, but it will leave you with a pit in your stomach. One really fine restaurant is not being honest with its customers. I think that they must have fallen on hard times, but cheating customers is NOT GOOD. Please check with VISA or MC or BBB, and you would see the rules of eating establishments in our fair state. We invited friends to this restaurant due to a great experience we had in the past, but when we got there the service was not good not realizing that our waiter was the manager and he provided horrible service & the young waitress couldn't help us due to being afraid of getting in trouble. We ordered the baby shark, mushrooms, okra, and paella, and the best part was the rice in the paella. Such a great little hidden gem in Uptown! It is so great to see long-term businesses still remaining, when the tear down and build big craze seems to be taking over the city. My Dad was in town and wanted some interesting and unique food, so we settled on here. I remembered seeing pictures of their patio, which is relaxing and secluded. The 3 of us shared sangria, as well as several tapas dishes. The table bread they bring is also amazing! We had the cauliflower which was creamy and delicious.
