I was actually an employee at Shorty'z. I was punctual, hard working, and enjoyed my job very much. I even expressed to Chris how much the job meant to me because of how expensive this state can be. When his mom fell on the ground while working, I helped carry her to the bathroom and then to the car. I even cried at home because I was worried for her. Chris bonded with me and the customers gave me a lot of compliments. Then one morning, Chris came in angry. He found the opportunity to look through the cameras and fired me on the spot for having my phone out at work. He was very aggressive about it and wanted me out of his restaurant even after explaining to him that I had a very important payment I needed to take care of and I told him it wouldn't happen again. He did not want to give me my check until I called him and told him that I would report him. He told me to come back and had two police officers present for that. One police officer asked Chris if I should be trespassed as if I was a homeless guy off the street. I've never been so humiliated. Then I had to call again for the rest of the money he owed me because he didn't include any tips that were owed prior to me getting fired. When I came back for the second check he made a scene in the middle of his restaurant and started recording my face because he wanted to pay me less on the check he had already given me earlier because of a mistake he claimed he made. Very unprofessional and heartless. No warning. He even said I have a lack of character. I've never been disrespected like that before. Keep in mind his employees all use their phones. We also get a free meal during each shift. He didn't even give me my burrito or let me finish my shift so I left hungry. How sad is it that I would take my wife here for years and now we don't even feel comfortable walking in that place. He also made me and the customers uncomfortable with how rude he is with his own mother. I've heard customers tell Chris that he should respect his mother more and that was the day she fell. It's up to you to support someone like this. His parents built a beautiful environment and he is ruining it with his attitude. I'm not sure what made him fire me to this day but the way he handled it was extremely disrespectful and disappointing. read more

Fabulous family owned restaurant for breakfast and lunch. We usually go for breakfast, but lunch is great too. Staff checked on us and refilled our coffee. Restaurant so clean inside and outside Tables serviced immediately after someone leaves to make room for the customers coming in. read more

I love this place. This place first caught my attention by all the raving reviews. I figured, why not give it a try! As you pull up to the spot, there's nothing spectacular from the exterior. Standard corner spot in a business center. But I remember mamma said never judge a book by its cover! As you walk in, I was instantly greeted by the staff, everyone very friendly. I ordered a cheese burger combo with fries and a drink. Reasonable prices. As I sat and waited for my food I noticed the old school burger joint vibe but with charm. There's lots of fun little pictures and sayings along the walls. Definitely good vibes. The food was delivered to me quickly. The portions to my amaze were very generous and boy did it look gooooood! And it was! What I like about this place is they use a garlic mayo. It makes all the difference and adds a uniqueness to the burger without compromising the burger from its classic taste. Finally got to try and maybe I had it over hyped in my head, but the bacon breakfast burrito was just ok. If I need to get a quick breakfast to go, then I love coming to Shortyz. Always call in advance so that way your food is ready by the time you arrive to pick it up. Came around 11AM on a Saturday and it was not busy at all. We got the meaty breakfast burrito and it was so good!! There was a perfect balance between the softness of the egg, the crispness of the bacon, the texture of the hash browns, and the surprising pieces of ham and sausage. Most breakfast burritos are on the drier side, but this one was not dry at all. It's either due to how they make their eggs or some special secret, but it is such an enjoyable experience. At most other places, I would need the salsa to give it some more depth, but this burrito didn't need it. Got their BLT and let me tell ya...they do not short change you in the bacon department! I like The fact that they use green leaf lettuce instead of the cheaper iceberg lettuce like many places do. And they give you a decent amount of it as you can see in the pictures. They grill the bread with a little bit of butter along with serving the BLT with freshly sliced tomatoes. For $7.00, I highly recommend. The service there was exceptional, all the girls were sociable and absolutely kind. Whoever does the hiring does a great job! They practice social distancing guidelines very carefully and while I was there all I could see were multiple employees wiping down and cleaning the windows, the doorhandles, and all surfaces potentially touched by anyone. There was just an order out from the governor to stop all indoor dining and I noticed that this restaurant had all the chairs on top of their tables so that no one can sit down and eat. They are definitely compliant and very responsible. There's been some places that I've been to that I decided not to make my purchase because the workers there we're either unmasked or I would see that they weren't up-to-date on their guidelines . I would definitely say this is a very very Covid safe place to get your food. They also have outdoor seating next to Placentia street. I wish some people would just put on a mask and stop trying to harass that 20 year old who works at Costco over your civil liberties. Found Shorty'z on yelp when wife wanted to go Original Pancake House again, and I said why not try something new?! It's a great find for me with good quantity and tasty choices like country fried steak. Sprinkle some tabasco on the country fried steak with the sausage gravy and made for a great brunch! Enjoyed the great wheat toast, 3 overeasy eggs, and crisped hash. Will def come back to try their corned beef or maybe their burgers. Saw pastrami burger on the menu, I'm already looking forward to trying that... Good food, good price, nice folks. Winner in my book. P.S. For pancakes, probably still have to go Original Pancake House. Tried a bite of toddler's choco chip pancakes and the batter probably tasted generic. I've been here twice and am very happy. The first time I ate there. I had the Chorizo burrito and biscuits and gravy. The gravy was thick with big chunks of sausage. The burrito was good size and I loved the Chorizo. They came several times asking if I wanted more coffee. My second time I ordered a ham breakfast burrito and a sausage breakfast burrito to go. My lady friend couldn't finish hers and it made a second meal. I scarfed mine down like a pig. It's to bad they are only open for breakfast and lunch. When you're done, someone asks if they can take your plate, with a smile. You get the idea. As for the food, maybe not as good as it gets but it's pretty food, made to order. I had an awesome ABC (you take a guess what it stands for) burger today. If you order the combo, you can choose fries or zucchini. I chose the zucchini and thought it was too much batter. We've tried the breakfast here and they are good. There is a patio area which is surprisingly pleasant despite being along a busy street.
