Parking: ample parking spots right in front of the store Service: came in on a Wednesday AM. Short line and it moved rather fast. They're very considerate of their dine in guest. The BLT you may choose your bread of choice: white,wheat, or sourdough. I give it 3/5. The bacon was overcooked and bread was very toasted. There's nothing fancy about it. It is pretty basic. Will I try again? Yes, I am giving them benefit of the doubt that mine..happen just happened to be over cooked. The zucchini fries I would give it 4/5. It was a perfect size. Need a good cozy place to eat? You HAVE to stop by Shorty'z! The food is always freshly made with good portion sizes! I always intend of taking a picture for review sake but it's so tasty I end up inhaling my meal haha. Definitely recommend the breakfast platter, chili dog was great and so was the hamburger! I recommend to get here early to sit inside as it does get a little packed later in the day. Parking lot is wide and has enough spaces all around. Service is fantastic and you always feel like you're being taken care of here. You're not just an another number. Called in to place an order which was ready in about 15 minutes. Sausage Breakfast Burrito ($8.99): Good breakfast burrito with a side of salsa - not heavy on the potatoes which was great. GREAT breakfast burritos. This is our early morning craving and exploring and trying new places paid off this time. Locally owned and the proprietor is from a restaurant family, they've been feeding hungry locals since 2014 and I'm sure the proximity to CSUF has helped with countless hangovers from rough nights. All breakfast burritos come with eggs, hashbrowns, and cheese and I love how the protein is cut up into nice bite sized pieces. The burritos are also served all day. Bacon + Avocado burrito: Loved the avocado that came with it to lighten some of the heaviness. Super tasty and huge, I could only eat half of it. I read that Shorty'z got some good breakfast burritos, but it was just okay--nothing over the top except for the runs after a couple of hours passed by. Meaty breakfast burrito: no ham, add avocado 2/5 The flavor was disappointing and bland; there was not enough sausage, and the salsa was weak. I should just gone to Angelos, but I want to try their competition now I know. Zucchini 4/5 is not bad; portions are huge, but the ranch can be much better. French Fries: 3/5, nothing special, no Hienz but they got Hunts. Service 4/5 The service was fast and attentive. They've got a couple of male and female Shorty's working here too; I'm not sure if they're related to the owner or just helping out during the weekend. Drink selections: 3/5 Unlike most burger joints, they have Stubborn fountain sodas, and they have "natural lemonade." I don't think it's natural when it tastes like powdered country time lemonade. Finally back since the pandemic and brought the whole family this time. Got the solid steak and eggs for myself and chocolate chip pancakes and bacon breakfast plate for the kiddos. The chocolate chip pancakes were a big hit with the kids. You order at the front counter and then find a seat. I need to remember to bring cash next time to tip the awesome friendly staff! We both ordered the french toast combos and I got my eggs sunny side up and it came out fairly quickly in about 10 minutes after we sat down at our table! You get 4 big slices of french toast with a side of hash browns, eggs, & protein for which I choose bacon since I am bacon fan. Everything tasted delicious with the french toast being cooked perfectly with all the other sides and I do like the fact that you can get hot sauces from the servers! I was able to get tapatio but you can also get cholula as well. You will find options at a great price here if you are hungry and want some delicious food. Service here is fantastic with the staff being very cheerful and happy to help if you have any questions! Parking is also easy as well since Shorty'z is located in a big plaza off the freeway! I'm just leaving Shorty'z and I have to tell you, I've never been treated with such kindness. Chris greeted me with a smile and took my order. I just wanted a coffee. He said no charge and gave me the cup and showed me where to get the coffee. I tried again to pay but he insisted that it was on the house. This act of kindness has gained them a new customer. We visited Shorty'z for the first time today. I have to say when I walked in, it wasn't what I expected. It was smaller than I had thought it would be. There were a few booths and tables to sit at inside and a small outside seating area as well. The atmosphere was calm and the staff were friendly, however I think the location could use some modern upgrades. The food was really good, it came out very quickly and was very tasty. The pricing was reasonable for the amount of food we had. Some might think the price is a bit steep, but the portions were large. I had the veggie omelette, which included hash browns, and toast. I had a side of pancakes as well. The choices of drinks were limited-juice, tea, water, and fountain drinks. The fountain drinks did not have proper carbonation and tasted flat. I wanted herbal tea, but they only had green and black teas. I feel they should expand their drink menu options. I must say the place was very clean. The kitchen was very tidy including the floors. I noted that the cooks did wash their hands if they handled anything outside of cooking. Kudos to them. Unlike some restaurants I have visited. That's excellent! The bathrooms were very clean. They had toilet seat covers, adequate, "firm" toilet paper. Not like the cheap kind you find at the movies. I also observed how engaging and friendly staff were to their regular customers. Everyone seemed happy to be there. This is a great breakfast place. I would definitely return to this establishment. Location is a 6 minute drive or 1. 2 miles from the Cal State Fullerton campus. It's off the 57 freeway. If it were not for the lack of drink selection and need for remodeling, I would give it a 5 star rating. read more

Sure enough, when I arrived I asked if the two were related. The nice lady confirmed that the two are related. In addition, both serve good hearty food at a fair price, along with friendly service. I ate light and ordered the biscuits & gravy and a sunny side egg. The portions are big here, and I was stuffed. The biscuits were moist, and the gravy was nicely seasoned & had lots of sausage. Regarding the ambiance, its diner casual. You order at the counter, seat yourself, and the food is brought to you. Despite the turnover of customers, the place is clean inc the restroom. Likewise, the service was fast, friendly and warm. The person doing coffee refills was super cool. If you are looking for good, hearty food that is not hard on the wallet in the CSUF area, Shorty'z fits the bill. I am impressed at how identical it is to its sister restaurant in all aspects. Walking in, it seemed like it would be a long wait because it was busy, but we were quick to get our order in and get our drinks. There is seating inside and outside on the patio. When walking into the restaurant it feels like your classic local diner. On the walls are multiple pictures of multiple sports teams across all ages, with some being the local kids leagues. The service was pretty quick and the servers all had smiles on their faces. The food was pretty good, I definitely recommend the BLAHT (their blt with avocado and ham) Or the Your Burger (I get mine with Swiss cheese, bacon, and mushroom). Both were priced at a good price with the amount that you get and although the food was technically something you could make yourself, the amount of food, the price, and the fact that they make each component just the way I like it (crunchy and well toasted bread and buns, crunchy bacon, well seasoned patties, crunchy lettuce) makes it so that I can confidently give this place a 8.6 (points off for no innovative flavors, but the flavors they have are good) read more

I was actually an employee at Shorty'z. I was punctual, hard working, and enjoyed my job very much. I even expressed to Chris how much the job meant to me because of how expensive this state can be. When his mom fell on the ground while working, I helped carry her to the bathroom and then to the car. I even cried at home because I was worried for her. Chris bonded with me and the customers gave me a lot of compliments. Then one morning, Chris came in angry. He found the opportunity to look through the cameras and fired me on the spot for having my phone out at work. He was very aggressive about it and wanted me out of his restaurant even after explaining to him that I had a very important payment I needed to take care of and I told him it wouldn't happen again. He did not want to give me my check until I called him and told him that I would report him. He told me to come back and had two police officers present for that. One police officer asked Chris if I should be trespassed as if I was a homeless guy off the street. I've never been so humiliated. Then I had to call again for the rest of the money he owed me because he didn't include any tips that were owed prior to me getting fired. When I came back for the second check he made a scene in the middle of his restaurant and started recording my face because he wanted to pay me less on the check he had already given me earlier because of a mistake he claimed he made. Very unprofessional and heartless. No warning. He even said I have a lack of character. I've never been disrespected like that before. Keep in mind his employees all use their phones. We also get a free meal during each shift. He didn't even give me my burrito or let me finish my shift so I left hungry. How sad is it that I would take my wife here for years and now we don't even feel comfortable walking in that place. He also made me and the customers uncomfortable with how rude he is with his own mother. I've heard customers tell Chris that he should respect his mother more and that was the day she fell. It's up to you to support someone like this. His parents built a beautiful environment and he is ruining it with his attitude. I'm not sure what made him fire me to this day but the way he handled it was extremely disrespectful and disappointing. read more
