Breakfast sandwich
Theresa A.

Went here on a weekday morning for breakfast and it was crowded! We did not have to wait and they sat us right away. We ordered off the kids menu as well as the regular breakfast menu. The food was delicious and it came quickly. I ordered the breakfast sandwich and it did not disappoint. They came around regularly for coffee and beverage refills. The décor was so cool. They had a retro dinner feel with Hess cars as décor. You do not want to miss Shortys when you are in town!

Love this place for lunch or breakfast. This is my 2nd time here. Service is stellar. Ambiance is cafe.

Biscuits are big!

It's been a while since we had eaten here and everything was still great from food, to service to the decor! This time around I tried the grilled cheese and it was yummy! The only thing is that the bathroom was a little unkept and I feel like the whole place could use a good scrub down.

Who wants Shortys??

Tried the hotel breakfast ... wait was too long/food poor/service 'overworked' NOT AT shortys! We searched out a local diner place close to Williamsburg with ez parking! The staff was really nice and professional , super varied menu in this olde tyme diner. I love a Cubano sandwich so why not a cubano omelet! It was a hit The choco pancake was gigantic and tasty (we travel with our own real maple syrup) ... my side of grits and fluffy biscuit topped it off. Fun place quick kitchen nice staff Very glad to have abandoned the hotel fare for this local place

Meat lovers omelet with French toast and biscuit

Everything was fast and fresh and they dont play about their meat omelets! Oh also they have the best waiters EVER!!

Cuban Sandwich

Friends took us here for brunch. This is a casual place with good service (by Shaniqua). I ordered the tuna melt, which was delicious. The tuna salad was quite creamy. It was served on Texas toast. My husband had the Cuban sandwich, which was also delicious, although it wasn't served on true Cuban bread but a sub roll. The sides were good too. I'm giving this only 4 stars, as the women's bathroom was pretty nasty.

Solid diner with ambitious menu. The large space has a noticeable retro checkerboard floor and is decorated with vintage type stuff, has a kitchy feel about it. An Elvis Presley statue presides over the main room. The sammies are large and well made. Am impressed by the fried catfish sammie , a real winner. The potato salad and coleslaw are both excellent. The Italian sub comes heated--and that threw me. Never had that done before, prefer it room temp. Portions are generous. Requested a booth (with many available) but seated at a table instead; annoyed me a bit. Overall, good food is found here.

Unbelievable breakfast!! Beware you will hit a wall and wont be able to finish it all. So good!!!!

Fish sandwich with fries

I came here for lunch after seeing it on tv and it exceeded my expectations in every way. I ordered the fried fish sandwich which tasted fresh, well seasoned and delicious! The portions are generous. I requested the fries to be extra crispy and they were so perfect! The server, Jocelyn made our experience worth the five stars and more. She is a friendly, kind and professional. I highly recommend!

My receipt

The egg sandwich I got was very good. However, I did not get my complete order. I did not get the fruit cup, the 2nd order of grits, or the bread to go with it. I think this is due to the way the ordering system is designed. I would have been happy to pay for the extras.

Kids breakfast pancake, bacon, and eggs. Adult breakfast sandwich on English muffin.

Ask the Community - Shorty’s Diner - Williamsburg

I eat lunch here several times a year, and I ALWAYS GET the half pound burger. Think I'm ready to venture out and try something else. I'm leaning towards the Italian sub or the Philly, but what would be your recommendation?

If you like the Burger, then your next step is the Philly. It's close enough that it sets you up. I love the Philly.

I'm planning to go here with my family this Saturday. But why is there no take home for the kids menu??? My son is two, I highly doubt he'll eat half of the food all in one sitting...

I go there a lot. Just ask your server. I am sure they will pack up anything you want to take hone 😉. Great place!

Come to find out there is a new owner since September and so the menus etc are different. My husband ordered this banana nut waffle and he loved it. We ordered the Big Southern breakfast which came with pancakes, scrambled eggs (our choice) bacon, sausage, Virginia ham, biscuits (it was supposed to be one but since we split it, they gave us two) and fried apples which were awesome on the pancakes. I'm not sure how one person would eat all that, but hubby and I split it and had some fresh coffee that was served in individual containers with options for flavored or regular creamers. For traditional food establishment, they were high tech. Jennifer was able to put in our order at the table and we paid right there too. We had ordered the meal with the waffle, but I think it went to the table next to us. They offered to bring one out but what we had was already plenty, plus we got extra biscuits, so all good. Quick and delicious meal.

We started with homemade chips for the table and we got down to ordering. I had the Waygu burger and my wife had the salmon burger. Both were overly generous in size, quite filling, and reasonably priced. I really didn't see what the rest of the family had due to my place at the end of the table, but everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. We ended with each couple sharing a large warm fresh baked cookie. I'm looking forward to them opening a location closer to St. Louis!

Meatloaf was good and the flatbread was quite delicious. Kids enjoyed their food as well. Onion rings as well, can't go wrong. All in all a great meal at a nice looking restaurant and will definitely recommend it to others!

Starting with the service, the staff were attentive and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food was underwhelming. While portion sizes were reasonable, several dishes lacked the creativity and seasoning needed to stand out. The mussels and French onion soup were highlights, but the escargot and rotisserie chicken were only average. For dessert, the Gateau Breton is fantastic and a standout! However, I would skip the beignets if you are expecting the traditional version. These are smaller with the consistency of a donut hole, and lack the light, pillowy texture typically associated with classic beignets.

Both days I had the OG Bacon Egg Cheese sando on an ET bagel that was a decent accompaniment to my seasonal lattes which were clearly the stars of the show.
